This office was the worst I have ever been to in my entire life. I went there with my cousin, and she was treated so rude! I'm not sure if it was a race thing, or they were just disrespectful, unprofessional people. It was so bad, I told her she needs to call a lawyer for sure. They not only talked to her like a child, but they also rolled their eyes and got an attitude every time she asked a question. They even ask another couple in the lobby if they were done, and when they said no, sighed really loud and got an attitude with them as well! How do they hire the staff at this place? Review for Dr. Shang at Westcare Clinic, Renton, WA I came to Westcare Clinic as a pain management patient and was placed under the care of Dr. Shang. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing and, ultimately, harmful. At my first visit, Dr. Shang did not ask any meaningful questions about the quality of my pain or its impact on my daily life--despite this being a pain management appointment. I have a documented history of a brain aneurysm, which has affected my memory and processing. Because of this, I have a care provider who attends important medical visits to help me understand and retain information. However, I was told I could not have my care provider present. This is not a preference--it's a medical necessity. During my second visit, I shared a prepared statement (recommended by my therapist) to help communicate the impact of my pain and clarify my needs. Dr. Shang appeared visibly irritated by my effort to participate in my own care. When I asked about a referral he previously mentioned, he told me to contact my insurance company--a response that surprised me, as referrals are typically managed by the provider's office. When I asked for the referred doctor's name, his tone became sharp and confrontational. Throughout the appointment, I was met with frustration and resistance for simply asking questions about medications and treatment options. My intent was to be an informed, collaborative patient--not to challenge authority. Yet I felt belittled and dismissed. When I again brought up the need for my care provider to attend visits due to my cognitive disability, Dr. Shang became increasingly agitated. I asked whether this was clinic policy or a personal decision, and whether he would consider making a reasonable accommodation for my disability. Rather than respond professionally, he told me I would be seeing a different physician (Dr. Lin) going forward and abruptly left the room. After the appointment, I was so rattled I left my glasses behind. When my care provider returned to retrieve them, she was informed I had been discharged from care without notice or discussion. This is especially alarming, as I am opioid-dependent and rely on continuity of care for my prescriptions. To be dismissed without a transition plan is medically irresponsible and emotionally distressing. I do not recommend this provider to anyone seeking compassionate, patient-centered care--especially those managing complex or chronic conditions, or those who require accommodations for cognitive or neurological disabilities. read more

Everytime they called 1 of my meds it would not go through and I'd have to call my primary. So they got all new staff for the 3-4th time and they discharged me from the clinic because I told the MA I wouldn't need to have someone out of my contract call meds in but they need to get their shit together. So after 5 years the discharged me for being rude to the MA. It wasn't personal to her. Shayns the office manager id had got into it with her prior because somehow she couldn't get the rx correct!!! It was her who discharged me along with several other patients. Are you getting rid of Medicaid patients? I think legally you have to give me time to find opioid medication and a Dr. see you in court!!! read more

I went there in aug. They decided to do a drug test but I couldn't pee. They can canceled my appt and would not make another one. I finally got them to make another and they told me they weren't going to cuz that's why I couldnt pee cuz I knew it was a drug test. No, I couldn't pee cuz my bladders the size of a walnut. Dr chang said he was gonna make an appt with a back Dr. I never got a call with the info so I called them. Finally got in for back specialist. Went back to Dr Chang. Asked if a got to the neurologist. No didn't know I was supposed to. I told them call me as soon as you get the appt made. It's been 3 weeks and no call. I just called them. They said it looks like someone was supposed to make an appt with the neurologist, but no one has done it yet. He was gonna call the person that should have called, and call me back. I told him that was unacceptable. He said thanks and hung up. I have no idea whether or not he is making the call. This is the absolute worse group of medical professionals I have ever been referred to. Oh, and Dr Chang lowered my pain medication with no info on me at all. And I've been on it for 14 years. I have been under the care of Dr. Correa for the last year. He was the best doctor I have ever had. He has left this clinic now and Dr. Chen is the providing doctor. She is the rudest, most disrespectful and demeaning doctor I have ever had. And 16 surgeries later, I know a bad doctor. She changed my dosage for pain medication and when I asked her why she was doing this she stated "I don't have to explain what I do to you, I can make any changes I want". I had never had any issues with this office or medication before. Dealing with constant pain and heart conditions, changing my medication is a huge ordeal. The anxiety and high blood pressure alone is unbearable. And that isn't including the daily excessive pain I am dealing with. Dr. Chen should not be allowed control of anything she is not able to handle the power she has. read more

I've been a patient at Westcare Renton for 2 years. First, Dr. Correa and then Dr. Chen when Dr. Correa left. Both wonderful, compassionate and caring doctors. I saw the new doctor, Dr. Lin two weeks ago. Rude, abusive, uninformed, did not do any kind of assessment, evaluation or questioning of my pain levels, location, severity, duration and my diagnoses. Instead, he was unintelligible, smirking, yelling so that "maybe if I talk louder you can understand me better ". Threatened to call my pharmacist and my primary if I kept pushing against his force taper to tell them my dose is dangerous". I've been on that dose for 15 months -a curated and informed clinical decision by the previous two (amazing) doctors- I had to call the MA in when the doctor stormed out, but not before announcing he had to go to the bathroom. We thought he wasn't coming back now to MAs are in with me looking horrified. When he returned over 5 minutes later, i said we didn't think he was coming back now. He said "nature calls, what do you want me to do." Finally, I said what is my treatment plan??? He literally said "Well, I have other patients, but you come first". Complete and total attempt to imply that I'm privileged for asking for another minute of his time. I asked for my final dose, said I'm not coming back. Left sobbing during the 2 hour drive back home in rush hour traffic. I called my pharmacist on the way home to tell him what happened. From what he could get out of my sobs, he kindly said that if he calls he'll talk to him. I reported him to hr@westcareclinic.co (HR). This is how patients end up with medical PTSD. "Dr" Chen is a terrible human, and an even worse doctor. She embodies all of the negative traits and attributes that contribute to patients who fear medical treatments and doctors in general. She gaslights, she's dismissive, she's a liar, she has no compassion, and unfortunately, she replaced doctor Correa, who was the exact opposite of Chen, in all regards, and is probably the only reason that this clinic ever rated above 1 star previously (and you can judge by the steadily declining comments since he left the clinic and she replaced him). She cares nothing about her patients and their pain issues, she'd rather prescribe a host of weird medications with long lists of side effects, that have no positive result for treatment, than deal with addressing the actual cause of pain. It's hard enough living with chronic pain without being treated less than human by the very people who are supposed to help you. I would strongly recommend finding pretty much any other doctor unless you don't mind being demeaned, degraded, and disregarded. She shouldn't be allowed to continue working with any humans, in any way, let alone trusted as a care provider, but unfortunately it seems like she's one of many doctors that get into this profession for the wrong reasons, because clearly it wasn't to actually improve patient's quality of life, which should be her main goal, but is something which she isn't capable of doing in any meaningful way. She's really just quite awful, maybe borderline evil (she does seem to especially enjoy the act of mistreating others, and judging from the comments here, I'm not alone in my experience), and I hope more people speak up about their negative experiences with her, because she's dangerous and she should be held accountable, and inevitably stopped, if that's still even a thing in the medical field these days. I'm going to be reporting her, and if she harmed you or someone you care about, I suggest you join me in revealing who she is and the abuse of power she wields. This is not a woman who should be treating anyone, let alone those of us living with unbearable pain, searching for relief, and most of all - care, because Chen just couldn't care any less, and that's not someone you want in charge of your well-being. I was recommended to this clinic after my severe car accident only seen them a couple times through out the few months due to their lack of communication and answering the phone I still have two more procedures to do and I'm not sure when they are going to get done because no one ever answers the phone or returns calls if you can find another clinic I highly recommend finding someone more professional in their craft read more

I will give the dr 2 stars for knowing how tonhelp my husband's chronic pain problem and ZERO stars for follow through! This office had completely screwed around for more than 6 months and keeps telling him different information as to why they haven't gotten the information needed from the insurance company. We have called the insurance company ourselves and told the clinic as much. He has given the clinic the number and still they are not calling. This is a delay and lack of care in the provider, clinic and ALL staff involved. read more
