This is a gorgeous naturally beautiful piece of land. To our shock they were already charging $22 for out of state fees. Normally the season starts July 4th. We were unaware of the change in policy. Then, as we walked along the beach, we talked to life guards- all teenagers. They said they were asked to come out & stay on the beach even on Saturday although it was raining all day. Who are the ppl in charge of the park? Who makes these unilateral decisions? We the ppl are charged to walk on the edge of the ocean that belongs to the human race, so they can pay life guards on a rainy day with no ppl on the beach. Clearly, the CT govmt is in trouble.

The tide goes out really far, and leaves plenty of things to explore such as tide pools, and long sand bars that go out again very far. It does cost money to get in, but I think it's free after like 6pm. Only thing I wasn't a fan of is the swimming area. There are big patches of grasses growing right where you'd swim during high tide, and it makes the swimming area very small, and a few big rocks that should be moved and are dangerous. Very clean beach. Haven't seen really any trash or plastic. There are crabs to catch, and shells to find. They even let us drop off for free. It is considered one of the best beaches in Ct.

4 stars, nice (for ct!)…read more thats the way it is these days, when you summer in RI, you expect certain things, harvey beach is very different than what i typically experience. the flats! this is one of the neatest part of the beach, low tide you can walk out into the bay real far out, its surreal! high tide has a lot of grassy areas, again, kinda weird to me for a beach, but its still nice sand and clean water. there is also a lobster truck in the lot and bathrooms too. 15$ to park, which stung, but way better than say 16$! cost of doing business, this is a public beach, so if you can walk, save the moneys. sandy (danny?)

I wouldn't say close enough to walk, especially if you are bringing chairs, coolers, food, etc. You are within minutes drive to restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, etc for all your shopping needs. Beech Tree also has a little shop that have some drinks, trinkets, clothes, decor, etc. that my fiance says is adorable, cute, etc. If you love going to the beach and want to stay at a place owned by some nice people rather than some big corporately owned motel/hotel with no personality or character, check this place out! You won't be disappointed. We haven't, we're planning our 4th trip back here hopefully sooner than later!

So nice to visit a small animal Nature Center and watch live a bird nest. The sand isn't combed and there's many broken shells in the water. Okay I get it, it's nature. One of the 5 year olds got a shard of shell in his heel playing/running on the sand to give you perspective. We were there for a party at the small pavilion so thankfully we didn't have to pay. Beautiful scenery and gentle waves. Splash pad was out of service. They have 3 playscapes that are pretty nice.

My first kayak trip was eventful and enjoyable because of Indian River. I've rafted and canoed…read morerapids so kayaking was naturally the next in line. I had the ambitions plan to fish and have a nice lunch on the water. That plan went under water literally. Not even 100 ft from the launch I capsized. The staff were extremely helpful especially Sara who helped me pinpoint my mistake got me another kayak and I was off with no further issues. Started off rocky ended with an awesome day on water. When I return to Connecticut I will definitely make Indian River one of my stops.

Despite the weather not being the best, May 2025, the islands were not crowded which is why it was arranged to go at this time! Greek cuisine deserves its own spotlight. Whether dining at a seaside taverna or exploring bustling markets, I was treated to flavors that celebrated freshness and tradition. Imagine biting into tomatoes so sweet they taste like candy, or savoring seafood caught hours before it landed on your plate. I will always savor the Feta cheese and the Ouzo! Joy recommended several high quality restaurants and we weren't disappointed! Joy did her very best to give us many options of activities or to go it alone!
