Stopped by hoping to visit, but they were closed for vacation through July 20. The selection visible in the window looked nice. Good for them for taking some time off. We'll try again next time we're in the area. read more

The employees are very helpful. I was able to purchase a gift certificate for a coworker friend as a retirement gift. A lot of great finds.

Best chill camera shop in Michigan, film and some digital. But not being open on weekends as a photographer is egregious. I think they know how good or burnt out their business would be if they were open on the weekends or something idk. But still 5/5 read more

Always a friendly experience. I have bought several camera bodies and multiple lens from Westborn Camera over the past 8 years or so. My latest purchase was a mint condition Nikon D810 with less than 4600 shots. Staff are knowledgeable and no high pressure sales. Camera shops are getting rare so it is nice to have a relativity local, ( within 35 miles ), store. Give Westborn Camera a shot, you will not be sorry. Jim Glenn - Monroe, Michigan USA read more

Very nice owner. I went to buy a lens for my camera that only he had. I had called many other camera stores. He threw in a small camera for my girlfriend that she wanted for only $10. Also has a photography studio. Highly recommend the store read more

One of the few great camera shops left! The guys are very knowledgeable and friendly. There is a great and ever changing selection of fine used gear. From the latest digital cameras and lenses to antique large format and everything in between. A great place, Highly recommended. read more

I can't believe no one has written anything about these guys yet! I am a fairly experienced non-professional photography hobbyist. I do shoot some digital, but I am at my heart a film user and antique camera enthusiast. Unlike many camera stores these days, Westborn Camera Co. does a good job of offering modern digital camera equipment without sacrificing analogue options. They have an excellent selection of both digital and film cameras, and their prices, while not rock bottom, are fair - and they stand behind the items they sell. My friends and I have all been very happy with the items we've purchased from them. Their goods aside, the real reason I'm writing this review is because of the stellar staff working at the store. I've been to my share of camera shops with curmudgeonly owners pushing products or ignoring your needs, but EVERY person I've spoken with at this shop is friendly, helpful, and passionate about what they do. Whatever you need, be it a camera, lenses, tripods, gear, or even parts, they'll likely have a lead for you. I stopped in once on a whim hoping to find some basic parts, and after helping me find several useful items, they actually stayed after closing time just because we were having such a nice talk about photography. How many businesses can you say that about? In short, these people are great -- stop by and see them! read more

Drove from pretty good distance and they were closed at 10:00 am on a Friday. They won't be in business long.

I had been looking for some Mamiya repair parts for some time. Don helped me out and with a nice price too. Thanks!

I walked into here a few weeks ago looking to treat myself on my birthday, I felt it was finally time to purchase a Leica. I told John what I was looking for and he showed me a Leica M3 that I fell in love with immediately. He was very helpful and took the time to tell me all about the camera as well as some of the differences between the various Leicas. I never felt rushed or like I was just another customer. I also traded some things in and got really good value for them to use toward the purchase. They have a great staff, an amazing selection, and a generous return policy. A great group of guys to work with. read more

My go-to camera shop for used equipment and more. I picked up a sweet deal on a tripod and camera bag.

I ran across this gem via some of their craigslist listings. I went in to check it out and have been back several times since. They have a great selection of used gear that is constantly changing and being updated. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I have had so many questions answered and found quite a few things here to purchase. This is my new favorite toy store. Joel is who I usually work with and he is great. To say the least I'm a fan :-) read more

if i could give it a lower rating, I would. Bought camera from them on e bay, it was advertised as belonging to a local known photographer. I purchased and asked that they provide something to prove it belonged to said photographer......I sent my camera right away, it got there on a saturday and they were closed....later they told me they were late opening up that day. I sent NUMEROUS messages to them, maybe 5 or 6 before they responded at all....THE worse communication i have EVER had with a seller. They took forever to eventually mail the camera i purchased....the only excuse they would come up with is....im sorry. Spoke with someone who claimed to be owner...John, and he assured me that he would get the documentation to me right away....well, that NEVER happened. He tried to tell me that because he was a member of LHSA that they would vouch for him. How can you advertise something for sale and have no documentation to prove it? I sent him a message that the camera i sent as partial trade, Abraham Lincoln took photos with it. Of course, that is not true.....cant he just take my word? This place is as unprofessional, sneaky, bait and switch, not as described, could care less, and a complete rip off. Oh, and come to find out they did have the box camera came in, first they said they did, then they did not, and now they do have. They had told me they would send everything they have and proof of some sort that it did belong to the photographer. The last message John sent me was the photographers sons phone number...really? I would have sent it back, but then I would have to put up with more of the way they do business. Do yourself a favor and keep shopping when you see something they have for sale.......This is the first time i have ever left a negative feedback on ebay, and first time to write a review on YELP, but I think i should warn others before they make the same mistake i did. Pathetic....that is what they are.....i am surprised they are still in business. I have NEVER dealt with a business like this. I knew I should have gone to Samy's Camera instead. This was not a low priced item, i traded my Leica mp film camera and $500, so more like over $3600.00. I would not buy a lens cap from them! Oh, and hey RIPBORN, save your comment that i should have contacted you first...post what you want...you're a ripoff well today i got a black box, and a book about Bill Rauhauser, from owner I guess......btw.....i should have sent him a book on Abraham Lincoln, you know..Abraham shot with my Leica mp film camera....yeah, sure! read more

These guys are AWESOME!!!!! Westborn Camera is by far the best camera shop I have been to where the people there actually help you, are honest, fair and extremely friendly. Joel and Cory were very patient with me and gave me tips and showed me a few things about my camera and how to improve my technique. Don't let the store front fool you. It might not look like all the other camera store's, being fancy and all. As they say, looks are not everything. I have gone to Woodward Camera a few times and got fed up with their attitudes and high prices. Check out Westborn, its worth the drive and time. read more

Place is fantastic. Joel helped us out tremendously. They're a very honest group and didnt try to steer us into buying something from them when what we really needed they didnt have. We were able to try out various cameras and received a lot of instruction on the different types of lenses. Joel also does private lessons on the side and we're definitely looking forward to starting ours next week after we get acquainted with our new camera. Thanks for being an honest business with good customer service. Definitely a rarity now a days. read more

Was quoted a price to buy my used gear minus the one camera body that was not functioning properly. Told me it might be easy fix. I took it and had it repaired at little cost. Then when I came back 3 days later with it working, they still said "pass" and offered me a lot less on the same gear from 3 says ago. When I reminded him if his offer he said he never told me that. Either get it writing from this place or avoid them. Better luck, and money, selling on ebay! read more

Found them through an ad on craigslist - they sell online also. Came in that day. The people are knowledgable and really helpful, and the prices can't be beat. I got a new camera case, a battery and charger for my DSLR, and a lens cap for my lens, all for 60 bucks. A great little shop. I hope they thrive. read more

I gave an overall rating of 5 based on over 20 transactions with Westborn Camera. These days It's difficult to trust in any retail establishment but I can say in most cases I trust the employees of this store. I believe they try to present an honest picture of used items. When buying used photo equipment it helps to be somewhat educated prior to your purchase from any store. Joel, Don, John and George are very knowledgeable about new and used equipment and I would, and have recommended Westborn Camera to others. Enjoy your visit. read more

I visited this store today with two Nikon lenses in mint condition that I wanted to sell. I did not want to be bothered with Ebay or selling them to a store online after some bad experiences. I talked to Joel who tested them both and gave me a price that was close to my asking price. I sold them without hesitation, and Joel cut me a check after examining my drivers license. The whole transaction took no more than 10-15 minutes, and I thought his prices were completely reasonable. I was extremely impressed by the professional way in which Joel handled the transaction. Afterwards we even spent some time talking about some aspects of photography and discovered that he knew a professional photographer friend of mine in the Detroit area. I will definitely be back to Westborn Camera. read more

Very rarely do I come across a business with extreme customer services. It was a few days before Civil War Remembrance at Greenfield Village that my battery charger was ruined,. I went to Westborn Camera and explained my situation. All though a charger was not in stock and would have to be ordered I was given a good price on a charged battery. I attended the event and took over a thousand pictures. I was surprised the battery charger was available a few days later at a reasonable price I would recommend Westborn Camera to any one wanting exceptional services read more
