My entire experience with Brian Peck was very disappointing. We booked our senior photo shoot at…read moreour daughter's high school. I provided example photos of the style we were interested in upon first speaking with Brian. The photos we recieved were nothing like what we requested or what was depicted regarding examples of his work on Yelp. In his defense, it was a gloomy autumn day but he did not anticipate the poor lighting nor did he bring any specialty equipment such as using a light reflector or flash boxes to improve lighting. After reaching out to see if the photos could be improved with editing, he became very defensive and unwilling to help. He arrived 20 minutes late, and complained about being ill the entire shoot. My daughter's face was partly obstructed in one of the photos which was the only photo sent of that style. I wanted to try and find a way, through editing, to improve the photos but again, the photographer was unwilling to help. I don't recommend his services for senior photos.

Genevieve did our newborn session in our house which made it super easy and convenient being new…read moreparents because if you know leaving the house at first can be an event in itself! She brought everything that was needed and made the experience so enjoyable! We laughed together the whole time and it felt like a old friend walked through our door even though it was the first time meeting! We received the photos back in less than two weeks and they were more perfect then we could have even imagined! The mini session was quick, about 15 minutes, which is exactly the amount of time my young children could focus. It was a very organic shoot. We didn't feel pressured or rushed, nor did we feel "cheesy" like in other photo shoots. She took a lot of candid photos that were not staged. My kids sort of took the lead and she followed suit, playing with them while taking photos. It was a great experience and we were so pleased with our photos!

We used Katie as our wedding photographer. The referral path to get to her will bore you and won't…read moreadd much to this review, but let it be known that we are forever grateful! Katie was beyond our expectations! We were told that she is starting her photography career, so we weren't quite sure what to expect. We saw some of her work with family photography and immediately saw the potential. She arrived the day before the wedding and what a breath of fresh air. There was no pretentiousness, no "Well, I wouldn't do it that way" attitude. Instead, she listened to what we were looking for in a photographer, asked some questions to dig deeper in some areas (i.e. important family / friend photos, dancing photos, etc.), and then got a feel for the flow of the event (as it was really an all-day affair). The next day, she showed up early and was ready to rock. She did a phenomenal job of meandering throughout the crowd to get shots that we'll cherish for a lifetime. The wedding was at a lake-side resort in Northern Michigan (Chimney Corners, Frankfort) and Katie used her expertise to incorporate the lake and rustic surroundings. One minute she'd be taking a photo of our family, the next she'd be laying flat on the ground to get the perfect shot of our friends. At one point, she was laying in the middle of M-22 (a lovely road that winds through Northwest Michigan) to get a priceless shot of us walking down the road. We escaped the party and did a more private photo shoot with the bride/groom, leveraging the rustic exploits of the resort. She was never pushy. She knew where the good shots would be. She was always asking us for any feedback. It was reassuring to know we had a budding photography wizard at the helm. Wedding photography really comes down to one thing - the end product! It was delivered to us in LESS THAN THREE WEEKS! We plugged the thumb drive into our computer upon receipt and were immediately whisked back to our wedding day. The quality was immaculate. The photos looked like they were ready to be printed. She already touched them up, picked out the best photos, and provided them to us for immediate use. She even gave us good advice on what companies to use for printing photos for us and our families. If you are planning on having a wedding in Northern Michigan, or any other event where a professional photographer is needed, do yourself a favor and contact Katie Wind Photography.
