We loved this park! The park itself has a large playground area (seen in photo) for bigger kids to run around. There is also a side, smaller area for toddlers with smaller slides, swings, climbing tubes, etc. Along the perimeter there is a traditional zip line and one with a chair. We found this park because it was next to our Air BnB and we had to drive back down for a day trip with our little niece. We made a day of it for the winter holiday. She loved running around to each of the monkey bars and rings. Playing on the fireman pole, pretending to be on a boat and an airplane and going up and down the mazes. She loved the ziplines and found friends to play with as they ran all over the park playing tag and hide and seek. I loved that it had a ton of cameras for security and seating on all sides for tired adults. I will definitely be bringing her back. read more

Awesome park. I ride my bike practically everyday there. The park road and the bike path together make a 1.66 mile, giving you wind and small hill elements always a fun ride. I want to mention the workers are great. I ride a road bike so rocks, sand and other debris is not out friend. Riding that route you think nothing of it and just stay aware of might-be hazards. Alright. I'm not going to lie and say we don't frequent this park or that we won't return... we will. I like that Yuma has this big, free, fun attraction for the kids to enjoy! But I have a few complaints as of late... There is so much trash on the playground. Not the castle area, the sandy playground. Toddlers are constantly picking up nasty things and trying to shove them in their mouths and it is just gross. And what happened to the shade that used to cover the playground area? One of the recent times I was here, I saw a man in the parking lot next to the lake area changing his clothes as he stood next to his Jeep. I was in my car in the parking lot trying to calm down my fussy toddler that didn't want to leave the park just yet and looked into my mirror to see a stark naked adult butt. Like, what? This is a park. It was lunchtime, mid day. I looked around and thankfully no kids seemed to be nearby but REALLY?! Parents, be aware. He had a bike on the back of his jeep and was apparently changing into or out of exercise clothes... but why not do it in your car? I used the restroom here for the first time today and it was absolutely disgusting. The toilet paper was full and it was good quality so that's a bonus. But the facilities could really use a cleaning, stat. The castle area has a few minor areas that could use some repair. Lots of spaces on the squishy mat that a toddler could trip on. Nothing too crazy. And for the most part, this park has been really great for us to visit, and we will continue to. I just have had some disappointing things happen and wanted to update my review from before. read more

This event Spruce Up Your Park was held by the City of Yuma. The Parks and Recreation had a big donation of trees from Reforestation (onetreeplanted.org) to beautify various places in Yuma. So in this spot not only were trees planted, but also walking trails were repaired, trash was picked up, etc etc. They supplied us volunteers with needed tools. It was great because not only did we help with the beautification process but also took in fresh air, a chance to meet others and some cardio checked off the list too! The event only lasted 2 hours though because more volunteers showed up than expected. Worth the time and effort! read more

Great place to spent with your family! There is so many activities for you do their not to mention a lot of ancient history too, my son absolutely loved the castle playground and taking a swim in the lake, he didn't want to leave highly recommend the only downside is that the park needs deep cleaning especially the playground carpet and minor repairs right here and their, I forgot to mention the restrooms their are horrible and smelly, and messy so don't recommend using the restrooms their I would wait to get home but other than that it's a nice place to visit. read more

This is one of those hidden parks off the beaten path. There are awesome lawned areas, covered picnic areas, an awesome playground, boat ramp into the Colorado River and hiking trails. Plenty of birding opportunities await the birders; Golden Eagles have been spotted in the area. Plenty of wildlife viewing experience await, including burrowing owls, water fowl, coyotes and fox. The park and become very busy during the weekends all your long so be prepared to arrive early if you want a covered picnic area. read more

Wow, what an awesome play area for the kids. Children can definitely play here and be creative and have an imagination. This toy area is huge! The ground is padded so kids will not get hurt. The space is spread out so you are not running into other kids. Plus there are benches for the parents to sit and watch. There are swings, and plenty of tunnels to climb around. For the little kids (2-3) there is a play area also. This is a awesome playground that I recommend if you are visiting Yuma. read more

I've been coming to West Wetlands Park once a year for about 4 years now (we are from out-of-town) to host a charity walk. Each year, the park has been clean, well-maintained and bathrooms stocked. The park is truly a beautiful site when the sun rises over the lake. Kudos to the city staff who come out each year to help with trash and assist with the event. I was not expecting much coming to this park because we are in Yuma. I LOVE this place! Today was my sons and my first time coming here. It's about 7 minutes away from our place. It is BEAUTIFUL! The park is HUGE! The toddler place is fantastic! Very fun to climb around in all the tunnels! They have a tire swing which is awesome!!!!! The lake is very neat! It's a big place! Lots of families! I would have given it 5 stars but I do wish they had some sort of vending machines for water! It is really hot, and my son drank all his water rather quickly. Other than that, it is a fantastic place for kids . We will definitely be returning. Another plus side is that the playgrounds are built very well, so no need to worry about splinters! Just make sure your child wears sneakers because there is lots of sand! read more

We just moved here and my son wanted to go check some parks out. Our neighbor said we will enjoy this park. Well we love this place. The park for the kids is awesome and has tons of walking/bike paths AND a mini fishing pond. Wetlands Park is a wonderful addition to the city. It makes me either a.) wish I had a kid to see enjoy the park or b.) wish I was a kid again. The park boasts a small man-made lake that is stocked for fishing, outdoor areas to BBQ, and some amazing playground structures that are designed as castles. Even if you are passing through Yuma on the 8, it'd probably be a great idea to make a quick pit-stop for your kid to have some fun. Further, this is a great pick-up point for tubing down the river. If you start at Gateway Park, it takes about 45-60 minutes to get to Wetlands Park. Go tubing with some friends and drop a car off here and drive the other to Gateway Park and you are off for a great time for next to nothing. read more

Wow, this park is amazing! We live 3 hours away from here, and we stopped during a road trip to get our kids' energy out. Months later, they keep asking to go to the "Castle Park." It made a big impression. There is so much for kids, adults, and dogs. Pack a lunch and stay for hours! read more

Castle park over at West wetlands is normally a really great place to bring my daughter but God help us if there is a school here! They don't know how to follow the age rules of the different parts of the park and how I wish the parents and teachers were helping but they just stand and watch! The school-age kids take over the climbing area and monopolize the slide in the 2-5 year area making it really hard to enjoy it here! So be prepared if you see buses in the parking lot avoid this park if you have young children! read more

I love this park! It has so many great features to explore. Initially I thought it was just the Castle Park and pond area that were the only places to visit. Thankfully I was wrong! There are many trails that offer run ins with many birds, rabbits, insects, and maybe even a bobcat. Some trails are paved and are in open areas, but there are also dirt trails that go into the trees and foliage. And, of course along the river. The trails also have info stations that provide facts about the area and the wildlife. I was also impressed with the sitting areas which offer great viewpoints of the river and other landscape. A real disappointment when castle park was closed on a Sunday morning at 9 am, I could not find any information as to what the hours are. Website very deceiving stating park was open but failing to mention the castle area was not. There are also ko signs stating what the castle park hours are except this one which tells e it should be open. read more

West Wetlands Park is a beautiful park... very peaceful. Nothing, but kind people come to this park to get either exercise, play with their pets, spend time with friends/family, or fish. I'd give it 5 stars, however, I absolutely HATE that red dirt! If you have sandals on, it'll make your feet red, and if you have shoes, it will turn your shoes red! And it's a hassle to get it out! Yes, it makes the park visually appealing, but it's a pain! Anyway, other than that, it's a nice little oasis in this drab desert. read more
