My eldest daughter has been a dance student at Creative Dance for the past three years. My…read moreyoungest just started taking her first one this fall. To provide a fair review, I attempted to interview the girls and get their feedback. Ummm, I didn't get far with them because they were quickly distracted by a squirrel pooping on our porch. With that, I would have to go with my opinion as a parent. We love it. Lorrie, the owner and teacher, is organized, methodical and fun. She's appropriately strict and the kids learn confidence and discipline (but not like the kind you learn in a Shaolin KungFu temple). The highlight is the annual dance recital that's held in a large theater. I was pleasantly surprised by the high production level, especially since the performers are mostly still wearing diapers. The dance studio is in the Junction and it's quite clean and comfortable. The classroom is large and appropriately padded. The waiting room for the parents has comfy chairs but could use some more current magazines. There's a change room and two washrooms. The bonus is there are a ton of things to do around the studio while your kid is in class. You can shop for organic food at The Sweet Potato, grab the best cup of coffee at Crema or indulge with a yummy Bronto Burger. We love it.

My daughter has been attending classes at Laurie's studio since she was 2 1/2 and absolutely loves…read moreit (she's now 10 1/2). She has taken creative movers, tap, jazz, modern and musical theatre - but her favorites are definitely modern and jazz. She loves that each instructor she has had has given her plenty of opportunity to shine and she always leaves class energized. Creative Children's Dance Centre has not only enhanced her love of dance, but given her the opportunity to explore movement and gain confidence she carries beyond the studio. There are a good mix of boys and girls attending and the performances are truly spectacular to watch. Obviously I'm biased to love my daughters performances the most, the the tap and hip hop always get the audience excited and the ballet goes from adorable (the tiny performers) to inspiring as the more experienced intensive training or pre professional dancers grace the stage. As the previous reviewer said, the studio is clean and comfortable. The location is ideally situated among many distractions for parents (coffee shops, gyms, shopping) as well. The instructors are all lovely and the owner, Laurie is one of my daughters personal favorites.

Incident Jan 27th: My daughter completes her dance class and is getting dressed to go home... but wait...her running shoes are missing!!! I go into that change room looked in the lost and found... cubbies...corners... other girls bags..NOTHING. At this point I am disgusted!! Now my daughter is leaving barefoot to get to the car?? Are you serious?? My husband calls a dance teacher who is the owners Barry's daughter..as useful as a brick wall! I expressed my frustration and include it is ridiculous that you pay hundreds of dollars and now how to worry about petty theft.... seriously! ! I also included this is why I prefer my child to bring her personals with her to class so they are safe. She wanted to know why am I getting mad at her...does she want me to give my daughter her shoes so she can get home?? Matter of fact..YES!!! The owner Barry could care less..until I posted on their site a review outlining our experience and suggesting whom ever took the shoes bring them back and teach their daughter about stealing. Low and behold my husband gets a call after my post 3 hrs later indicating they found my daughters shoes in the corner?!?! The same corner I looked in myself?!?! What a miracle... and that my daughter can leave their school !!! This place has no integrity. Come to find out through other parents who also have children that go their that theft is a regular thing and they don't do much about it! So I guess it must be very annoying for someone like me to speak up about the principal of things. Barry did refund my husband for costume fees..However I will be pursuing the rest of my fees via small claims court.

I am really glad we found this studio (we saw a couple of dancers competing at the CNE, and found out they were in Scarborough which was perfect for us!). We began our competitive journey last year, and my daughter absolutely loves it! Monika, the director is amazing! I highly recommend this studio, they have expanded the Tap programme now to the really young kiddos now too. Don't be afraid to chat with other parents there, we are all friendly! The studio has a great reputation, anytime we mention which studio we are with, people always say how amazing they are and how respect the dancers are...how we clap for everyone at competitions and congratulate other dancers. Anyways, wanted to leave this review because I noticed a negative one. Socialize with other parents, talk to the teachers etc....The cutest thing happened after my daughter did her first solo ever and in competition in March of this year, her entire team had run to watch her and then they came out and gave her a huge group hug when she finished!! Anyways, both recreational and competitive streams are fantastic!

Her assistant helper is super sweet, such a great kid. All the staff are so welcoming and friendly. The place itself is great with a lounge, lunch room, free wifi etc. Hoping to enjoy many years at this dance school. I would also like to comment on the other reviews here which I read and which made me a little weary before I joined as I was coming from another dance school. They have never advised me I can ONLY buy items needed (uniforms etc) at their "partner shop". I also think the lady who makes the rounds is quite nice and fair. I haven't had any issues at all with anyone.
