My daughter has been with TDI for 6+ years, they have always been fantastic! Warm and welcoming, amazing teachers and families. I am really glad we found this studio (we saw a couple of dancers competing at the CNE, and found out they were in Scarborough which was perfect for us!). We began our competitive journey last year, and my daughter absolutely loves it! Monika, the director is amazing! I highly recommend this studio, they have expanded the Tap programme now to the really young kiddos now too. Don't be afraid to chat with other parents there, we are all friendly! The studio has a great reputation, anytime we mention which studio we are with, people always say how amazing they are and how respect the dancers are...how we clap for everyone at competitions and congratulate other dancers. Anyways, wanted to leave this review because I noticed a negative one. Socialize with other parents, talk to the teachers etc....The cutest thing happened after my daughter did her first solo ever and in competition in March of this year, her entire team had run to watch her and then they came out and gave her a huge group hug when she finished!! My daughter loves this dance school! She's enrolled in two classes and enjoys them both. Her teacher is so lovely and amazing with the kids. Her assistant helper is super sweet, such a great kid. All the staff are so welcoming and friendly. The place itself is great with a lounge, lunch room, free wifi etc. Hoping to enjoy many years at this dance school. I would also like to comment on the other reviews here which I read and which made me a little weary before I joined as I was coming from another dance school. They have never advised me I can ONLY buy items needed (uniforms etc) at their "partner shop". I also think the lady who makes the rounds is quite nice and fair. Toronto Dance Industry has been my second home for over a decade now. I have spent countless late nights and early mornings within the four walls of this amazing establishment. This studio has everything! From six spacious and correctly equipped studios, to a huge waiting room with monitors for parents to watch inside the class, everyone is happy. In addition to all the necessities of a dance studio, like clean change-rooms and washrooms, they have a lunch room, a workout room and a quiet study room! They offer dance lessons to toddlers, adults and everyone in between in every style of dance at a reasonable price. All policies and prices are clearly outlined on the registration form and in the Studio Handbook, that you know exactly what you're signing up for and what is expected of you. With class size limits in place, all students are given the attention needed to retain the most from their classes. I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else except T.D.I! read more

There aren't enough words for me to describe how fabulous TDI is. When you walk into the studio, you see hundreds of medals, plaques, trophies, and awards won. The teachers are top notch, the competitive team is filled with talented dancers, and together, they work(ed) extremely hard for them. But that's not what sets TDI apart from everyone else. Monika, her family, and her team all work incredibly hard to cultivate an environment where dancers are not just having fun, but learning skills that will transfer to all aspects of their lives. Hard Work. Determination. A good attitude. Confidence. How to present yourself. And 13 million more. It's a balancing act that they have down pat - knowing exactly how far to push the dancers, while still making sure they're enjoying themselves. They often put the needs of their own children on the backburner to make sure another child or family is having a good experience. I wasn't kidding when I said there aren't enough words for me to describe how fabulous TDI is, so I'll just leave you with this: There is no other dance studio like TDI. You will get amazing instructors, you or your kids will grow up loving dance, and they'll become incredibly talented dancers who love the stage and win lots of awards. But more importantly, you'll watch them grow up to be good people. I could not be more thankful for TDI. When I first started there my technique wasn't the best and it didn't come all that easily, but Monika took a chance on me and let me join the competitive team, pushed me to work hard, and helped me achieve my goals. Pros: socially friendly parents, wifi available, multiple waiting areas Cons: For the 2 months we attended, the kids did nearly the same thing every class. I suppose they could claim they were preparing them for the big recital, but it seemed repetitive, with little to no emphasis on learning fundamentals. Main waiting area and shoe closets are overly congested. Definitely a "factory" designed to pump up their profits. Lots of nickel and diming, and hidden costs. You need to buy all kinds of "necessary" equipment, uniforms, etc. (which you can only buy at their partner store). Watch out for the automatic deduction for the next session...of course if you didn't read the fine print, there's a $25 dollar "fee". Reception seems over worked. Answers are terse and pretty cold. Our kids participate in lots of clubs and activities similar to this one. I would say this is the only one that would make me feel like posting a review like this. read more

If I could give no stars, I would. I am totally speechless. If it weren't for the 2 warm parents I met last season, I would not even glance at this place. I wrote a review the first time and Yelp deleted it, although the business owner saved it...and I''m writing this second review because I'm absolutely tired of businesses committing murder and getting away with it. TDI needs to at least try to conceal their nepotism. The special treatment and nepotism is abundant in this place. The lady who makes the rounds to ensure no one is wearing outdoor shoes, was harassing; She would get bored and would keep herself busy by always making sure to be around me and would linger at the door when she knew I was expected to come. I peacefully refused to put my shoes in their dirty/smelly shoe closet, and instead opted to keep my family shoes in our personal bag. The lady would go A-wall at seeing my shoes hanging in our bag, upset that I was "bypassing her in some way" and exchanged words with me that was totally inappropriate. Shortly after, I even walked in on her gossiping about me to the receptionist in front of the owner, Monika, who did nothing. The shoe woman even sent her daughter into the change-room a couple of times to see if I was there...which I was...!?!?!. And the Owner, Monika, completely condones her staff's behaviour as she refused to acknowledge what I was saying and didn't even err-on-the-side-of-caution with an apology. She didn't even apologize and instead defiantly told me what I was saying was lies??? Well this liar has the pictures to prove it! And I believe the pictures happened deliberately! In fact, when I went to speak to the owner (I, the customer took the initiative to find out what was happening as I was paying for a service) and Monika saw me and rolled her eyes then turned and walked away?!?! To receive this treatment is crazy! I never even interacted with the Owner prior to asking her to retake my daughters photos as makeup was smeared all over their faces and the pictures should not have occurred with the kids looking like that. (to continue)...!?!?!? My daughter's costume pictures are a joke! Even when I asked the extremely cold and uninviting Owner to retake the photos at the time of the photo shoot, the attitude and bitter coldness spewing from her was cringe-inducing. She was beyond rude and completely dismissive. The facility is old, the carpet they force you to walk on is old, and in need of updating, the smell from stinky feet is overwhelming, and the lady making the rounds can become annoying if she takes notice of you. It's not okay, to have some people wear shoes, and others not just because they are coup-de-la. It's not okay, to make fun of, and gossip about your patrons in front of other unknowing patrons -and it just so happens that I walked-in on your employees gossiping about me -which I asked since when was it okay to do such a thing and she huffed-and-puffed and said added more insult to injury before puffing away!! And it's not okay to treat parents like the cash cows they are and to ignore their valid complaints, and act as though their experience appeared out of thin air, and are untrue! I was told to my face by the Owner that what I was saying was untrue!?????? Since when has the customer been wrong!!!!!!!?????? The only positive I can say about this situation is: at least the carpets look like they've been cleaned. That's the one obvious thing TDI cannot cover up.. I really, really, wanted to like TDI, and for a while I did, until I started to interact with the staff and saw the place for what it is, and I know others will too. Reviews speak for themselves. This was the incredibly short version of my experience, and I've left out a lot simply because I don't have the time to relive the horrors experienced. This was my experience at TDI and I strongly doubt I will encounter another like this because my money is just as green as anyone else's.. but my fearlessness to speak out when something is wrong, shines brighter than the rest. TDI is unapologetic for what has happened, so let my honest review stand, instead of trying to get it removed. And the instructor we had, Vicky was nice with the girls, but what exactly are the credentials of the staff??? Why charge so much for recreational programs??? In hindsight, I can see the gossip must have been crazy because at one point, the instructors were nice and approachable and so were the 'helpers' in the class, and when things started to go bad, I recall making a mental note to the sudden, detached change in behaviours? It's sad because my girls love to dance and they obviously did not even consider them in all of this...things need to change, and I'm not supporting heartless businesses. Sorry, not sorry. When I first looked for a dance studio for my then 3 yrs. old girl, I looked for a place where my princess will feel like one, where she will be part of a team, and will enjoy the time spent there while gaining a new skill. I found Toronto Dance Industry on line, and went to check the place in person. Now, she is in her 10th year of dancing at Toronto Dance Industry, and she couldn't be happier - she is part of a team, her team. She is talented and still my princess. And above all, she gained many skills. The teachers are trained and very helpful. They ensure all kids are involved, no matter the age or skill level. All recreation students qualify for Performer of the Month, which give kids who do not compete, a chance to earn a trophy. At end of year recital all kids receive a medal - that puts a proud smile on each boy and girl from the youngest to the oldest, who doesn't want a medal?! I have always felt welcomed at the studio. I enjoy the family atmosphere, the Halloween contests, Christmas party and everything in between. I fully recommend Toronto Dance Industry to anyone looking to enhance their kid's life. My daughter dances at Toronto Dance Industry, and to this day, every time she goes on stage, she takes my breath away! read more

I highly recommend Toronto Dance Industry. My daughter has attended this school for one year now and she absolutely loves her dance classes. She looks forward to going every week. I really love that this school is a family-friendly, multi-cultural environment. The staff are kind and helpful and the instructors are incredibly talented. I really like that you can watch the classes on monitors from their spacious lounge, as well as from a large window at each studio. Fees are also paid every few months instead of all upfront. Whether you plan to take recreational or competitive classes, Toronto Dance Industry is the best school in Toronto. After being part of this team for 2 years I can honestly say that I have had nothing but positive experiences. Great facility with large waiting areas + wifi. The establishment is kept clean and in order. Staff and director are friendly and professional. As for the dance education, the faculty is wonderful, very welcoming and teach with passion. The whole studio has a sense of team work/family environment. I would highly suggest Toronto Dance Industry for both recreational and competitive dancers.
