I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and compliment several staff members from West Sunrise Dentistry. For many years I was petrified of having dental work done. The anticipation was so overwhelming I stayed away. Unfortunately my decision to ignore my dental hygiene has caused severe consequences. Prior to becoming a patient at West Sunrise Dentistry I was embarrassed and ashamed of my smile until I met Dr. Joshua Golden and his staff. Dr. Golden has excellent people skills he is professional, knowledgeable, gentle and kind. I felt relaxed and un afraid; at times I looked forward to my next visit. Let me begin with the manager Ms. Jhalisson at the front desk. She always greeted me and others with a warm welcome. She took everyone's temperature and made sure the necessary consent forms were signed. She also provided a questioner regarding Covid-19 to make sure we were all safe. Ms. Wila'yan spent a lot of time making adjustments to my dentures. She was eager to make sure they were comfortable and I was satisfied. I like spending time with her; she is a very kind person. Ms. Christa whenever she was busy with other patients, she took the time to say hello and help out anyway she could. Even when she wore a mask I could see a smile in her eyes and for that I am grateful. I felt like a part of the family. Mr. Cartier is a young man full of potential he too was available to make sure my dentures fit comfortable and I was okay. I enjoyed our conversations sometimes I forgot why I was there. I also like the music he played throughout the office it made me dance in the dentist chair lol...He is a pleasant person with a big heart. Finally I would like to mention an unexpected visit on September 09, 2020. Ms. Gina went above and beyond to provide detailed information in order to resolve a claim discrepancy I have with another dental facility. If I could give West Sunrise Dental zero stars, I would. What happened to me here was unethical, manipulative, and deeply disturbing. Please, for your own sanity and financial safety, read my experience before you even consider this office. My wife found them listed as an in network provider through our dental insurance. That was the only reason I chose them. I am a single income father of five. Staying in network is not a preference for us. It is a necessity. I came with recent X rays. They refused to use them and insisted on taking their own. The dentist immediately pushed the most expensive option. Extraction followed by an implant. Their billing coordinator, Dorlene, quoted me around eight hundred thirty dollars out of pocket and swore this was the insurance negotiated rate. I had no reason to suspect they were misleading me, so I trusted them. They also demanded a one hundred dollar upfront payment just to schedule the extraction. On the day of the extraction they suddenly demanded the entire eight hundred thirty plus dollars upfront and claimed my previous payment went toward something else. This should have been a giant red flag, but I allowed the procedure anyway. Six months later I returned for the implant appointment, and this is when the truth hit like a brick. Dorlene tried to get me to sign documents without even letting me read them. She literally turned the monitor away and asked for my signature blind. When I refused and insisted on reading the paperwork, she reluctantly turned the screen around. What I saw was not a consent form. It was a document designed to trick me into waiving my insurance coverage entirely. The exact wording included: * I have been presented choices/options and fees in regard to my treatment alternatives, including covered benefit(s), where applicable. * I have chosen to go outside the coverage of my Insurance/Plan and proceed with the accepted/planned treatment at the estimated fees listed above. * By choosing the accepted/planned treatment listed above, I understand that I have an additional expense than if I choose the covered benefit under my Insurance/Plan. * I understand that this treatment will be considered optional/alternate/not covered/cosmetic by my Insurance/Plan. * I have chosen to go outside the covered benefit(s) of my Insurance/Plan and proceed with the accepted/planned treatment at the fees listed above. Had I signed blindly, I would have unknowingly forfeited my insurance rights. When I refused to sign this trap and asked to speak with the dentist, I was bounced around until they placed me in a dim room with the oral surgeon, Victor Celis. His behavior was unprofessional and hostile from the moment he walked in. He talked over me, interrupted every attempt I made to explain my concerns, and repeatedly told me to calm down even though I was not raising my voice or using foul language. When I clearly stated that I refused to sign away my insurance coverage, he delivered the most alarming line I have ever heard in healthcare: "You are not my customer. The insurance is." Then he refused to treat me. While waiting for paperwork they reluctantly agreed to print, I called my insurance company. After reviewing the dental codes, they told me exactly what I feared. For the original in network extraction, I should not have owed anything out of pocket. West Sunrise Dental overcharged me. They misled me. They tried to use hidden paperwork to pressure me into waiving my benefits and paying far more than required. I left the office upset, shaken, and disgusted by the entire ordeal. A dental office should never feel like a trap, but that is exactly what this place felt like. I will be filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and my insurance provider. Please protect yourself and stay far away from West Sunrise Dental. No patient deserves what I went through here. read more

However the billing department is terrible They have charged both myself and the Medicare insurer and refuse to refund me as promised. They are do not return phone calls to myself, the better business Bureau or the insurer or the credit card company. Do they even realize they are committing Medicare fraud by double charging? *DISCLAIMER* The dentist gives me major anxiety! I blame the military. So I'm not just giving rave reviews for s*ts and giggles. Now for the review: Hands down the beat dentist that I have been to in my adult life. From setting up my appointment to today everything was very smooth. The appointment setters that I spoke to was very accommodating with my schedule of needing to come late afternoon/evening. Luckily Dr. Golden has two days that he stays late. Yay me! When I arrived, check in was smooth. From checking in to signing the new patient forms to my behind in the seat for x-rays took all of maybe 20mins at the most. From there everything seemed to just flow. I knew it was going to be a good visit because of the music selection. I couldn't concentrate because I was too busy jamming. Lol. I loved that Dr. Golden sat me down and explained everything to me, gave me his recommendations and allowed me to pick my treatment plan. Versus another dentist (I won't name any names but I reviewed him if you're interested) who simply performed work that I honestly didn't think I needed and told me after the fact. Everybody in the office can't be having the same issue Otis (not his name, just a reference) every time I visit. *side eye* Dr. Golden made sure that I was comfortable and wasn't experiencing any discomfort or pain. The young lady that took my x-rays and stayed with the doctor the whole time, eased my nerves as well. She just doesn't know how much I needed those laughs. was extremely happy with my visit. Scheduling an appointment was very very easy. The office called me to make sure and confirm my appointment which I was very grateful for that and they even got me an earlier appointment. Once I arrived they took me right away. And explain to me everything as they were doing it. The dental assistant were so nice and very gentle and the dental hygienist was super sweet and gentle with me but yet very effective. And Dr Golden was phenomenal and he was very firm with me and he was very honest and made my visit extremely comfortable and so much better than when I came in. What initially started as a potentially good experience turned in the opposite direction. I had a consultation with Dr. Golden and proceeded with treatment. I had to have a crown installed and they dropped the ball. They created a temporary one and installed it. I waited months to get the permanent call and it was only after many calls they even realized I was to have the crown installed. When I went in, they had to redo the impressions for the permanent crown. and I had to wait again to get it done. I went back to get the permanent crown installed and Dr. Golden had his assistant install the crown!! Never have I ever had that done!! So, let's now talk about the lack of professionalism. The assistant and other employees displayed no respect for me as a patient. They had private conversations and laughter over my open mouth. I asked what was being done and was told she was installing my crown. I asked for the Dentist and waited almost half an hour and he never came. At that point I walked out. The crown was obviously not properly installed(of course it was the assistant that installed it and pretty sure was billed as the Dr.) I was so disgusted with the lack of professionalism and disregard that I didn't want to put my foot back in that office! I decided to have them rectify the shoddy job.. I went back and Dr. Golding did not pay the courtesy of looking at the crown that had fallen out. He again sent an assistant who said I had to do an xray and could not explain why. I refused the xray and asked to talk to Dr. Golding. They stated I had to do the xray first and had another staff member come to tell me the same. I again refused under the reason that the dentist should look at my crown and speak to me first. Dr Golden then came visibly annoyed and told me I had to do the xray. At that point he offered a lecture about me walking out the first time but no apologies for the staffs' behaviors. Nothing wrong with sales but when you make people feel like they have to do something they don't want to do it's a major turn off. I chose this dentist because of the love they have for their patience and the very first time someone referred them to me it is because the Owner and Dentist he's a black man which being black myself really made me feel good and comfortable. I was referred to Dr. Golden by several of his patients, and I am so glad thay I gave him a try. What an AMAZING experience! I don't even know where to start. First, I am absolutely terrified of the dentist, but I felt so comfortable here. From the moment you book your appointment you are treated so kind and the team here truly goes above and beyond. You have the option of beginning your check in online which is VERY convenient. When you arrive, the ladies at the front are aware of who you are and make your process very smooth. Now...about the appointment. Dr. Golden is like a cousin I never knew I had. He is so normal lol! Very friendly, warm and makes you feel as if you have known him for years. He sensed my fear and took a moment to show me around the office, which somehow really calmed my nerves. When I went to get my xrays, he basically walked me over and handed me off. This is such a nice touch! The xray tech also handed me off to the next person. This really makes you feel better, almost as if they are holding your hand through the process. Dr. Golden took his time, explained my results and then laid out his plan. He allowed me to ask questions and didn't pressure me to get everything done at once. He spoke to me like I would imagine he would a close friend who needed dental advice. I ended up getting some teeth pulled and this experience was also great. And I have to go back for 2 root canal hoping it will be painless as well. Love the West sunrise team! From the time i walked in i was acknowledged and treated with respect. The entire team is very great, JoJo took her time and was very attentive during my X-rays. I appreciate how Dr. Golden explained the treatment plan thoroughly and allowed me to ask questions. In terms of billing, i appreciate being able to see the information on the screen while it is explained to me. I asked several questions as i was a little confused, but she took her time and explained everything in detail. For the actual procedure Dr. Golden was very gentle and tried to make the experience as great as possible. I have horrible anxiety at times, but the office staff works very well together and they do everything possible to relax you. I came here for a routine check-up and also to get my top wisdom teeth removed. Dr. Golden is awesome. My only gripe is wait time even with an appointment on two occasions :-( I left work with a 2 hr window to make it there, be seen and make it back. I was a little late for my follow-up appointment after the dental surgery(about 10 mins)and was waiting for 45 mins. I couldn't wait any longer and risk being late back to work so I left and I haven't been back. But its not because of the wait time I moved to North Miami and their location is in Sunrise. I filed the grievance with my insurance company and I was advised, in the beginning of June, that the office manager was going to credit my debit card with the $355 for which they overbilled services to me. I was told to allow 10 business days that the credit would appear at my bank. The 10-day period ended June 17. I called the insurance company again to let them know I have not received the refund yet and today is July 9. The CSR at the insurance company called the office mgr and was told the refund was issued July 2 and to allow 10 business days. So again, they lied, and I am still owed for their billing fraud. So now I am attempting to reach the office manager and have been on hold for 20 minutes so far. Nothing. Finally, after a half hour, the office manager got on the phone with me. She stated refunds are out of her hands that she submitted the request to their corporate office at the end of June, it was approved on July 2 (they were actually closed that day) and that I need to wait 10 business days. She said the same thing to me back on JUNE 2. I asked for her corporate office's number which she would not provide. I looked it up, called them, and got voice mail. IF YOU WANT TO BE FLEECED FOR BILLING FRAUD, BY ALL MEANS SEE DR. GOLDEN at WEST SUNRISE DENTISTRY. He's a nice guy, a good dentist, but his office is running a scam. Pay attention to your insurance company's Explanation of Benefits to find out what you payment responsibility truly is and then compare it to what you actually paid. read more

My experience at West Sunrise Dental exceeded all of my expectations. Dr. Golden and the rest of the team, from the receptionist, to the dental assistant, to the hygienist treated me with so much care and compassion from start to finish. Knowing that I am extremely afraid of being in the dentist office, they went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. They provided me a warm, cozy blanket when I felt cold, put on my favorite show on the TV to distract me and prevent anxiety and talked to me like I was part of the family. I saw Dr. Laura Llanos for four cosmetic crowns. During the prep for the crowns she drilled too much off my teeth and it caused sever pain then she said that I needed root canal. No kidding! I was NOT happy with her service so I asked Dr. Laura Llanos for my dental records to go to another dentist and she said she could not get them out of the computer and I could not have them. It is against the law to withhold medical records. Then they asked for me to pay in cash in fear that I would dispute the charges since the doctor screwed up my teeth. I am very unhappy with the customer service so far. I called to schedule an appointment for a Saturday two weeks out and I spoke to a male who said that the doctor wont be there Saturday so I wouldn't be able to schedule my cleaning and my boyfriend's. Caution. My wife and I went in to have our teeth cleaned. The advertised special was $59 for exam, X-rays and cleaning. I understood that they would make money by cavities etc but I thought I would at least get a cleaning. Wrong! After the personable and friendly staff completed X-rays I saw the dentist. When the dentist was through we were presented with a $6000+ treatment plan. When I asked about the cleaning I was told it would just be like brushing teeth and I got a $19 discount. I left feeling like they were never planning on cleaning my teeth. The word "fleecing" came to mind. It's like taking your old car in for an oil change and being told the oil cannot be changed without fixing the dents and scrapes. You can tell me about the dents and scrapes but change the oil. I LOVE this dental group. They are wonderful! West Sunrise Dentistry made me very comfortable in what most people find to be a terrifying experience. Andrina is very patient, careful and sweet. Erika listened to every question I had and answered every question. Dayanna is a very thorough hygienist. She also explained every step before she did it. Dr. Golden is just that... Golden. He is super patient and made sure I was ok during the entire process. Tahyana helped me set up a payment plan which most dentist offices do not do. She was kind and pleasant. The office is well kept and clean. There are TVs on the chairs in every room. I love the "get it done" approach. Most dentists will schedule another appointment to work on their care plan. I had to make an emergency appointment for a family member on a Saturday and they took him asap. The staff members are friendly and professional from the front desk members and up to the specialist handling you. The place looked modern and smelled nice. I notified them about the accident in which one of the two front teeth was pushed aback. We came in for an immediate X-ray finding out it was broken. They were able to help push the teeth forward temporarily and place a splint over it until the actual procedure took place in the coming week. Another specialist will extract the broken teeth in the following week and place a crown implant. I gotta say, the person who came in today was so sad and depressed having to drink food due the accident and was unable to rest his mouth down naturally because of a pushed back broken front teeth but when he walked out, he felt way happier knowing he is able to clench his teeth. A side note, yes it may be expensive if your insurance is not supported with them (like us) but for what it's worth we were happy with the turnaround. read more
