Sometimes…read moreit's a little scary doing dental work because of insurance but these folks were not only professional and clear about my coverage, but they actually let me know prior to going into my appointment about what my coverage was. That's really important to me. The cleaning was next to none. Anthony was also extremely professional, kind and really knowledgeable about dental care. I felt very comfortable with asking a million questions, as I haven't been to the dentist since COVID-19 started. Anthony was very thorough with the cleaning and gave me some useful tips for keeping up my flossing at home. Now moving onto Dr. Dulay. My appointment was at the end of day so I expected that there may be some rushing and there was, however, Dr. Dulay was very precise with her recommendations. She was also very through with her examination and I didn't feel like there was any overselling on minor issues. Her bedside manor was star quality as well. Lastly, let's talk about cleanliness in times of COVID. The office was clean upon walking in and the waiting room did not have more than three people at a time. I could see the dental associates change gloves periodically and I actually saw an associate retap equipment with a blue tap in between patients. This was really impressive to witness. I would rate the office a 10/10 for keeping up with sanitization and cross contamination prevention.

Also during any dental procedure she'll talk during it and make sure you know what she's doing before doing it and what the sensation should feel like. I have waited to write a new review to see if the previous visits were just a fluke. After my poor experience I've been back twice this being the third time. I must say the hygienist I've had has been AMAZING. Her name is Elizabeth snd she is really the ONLY reason I continue to go back. Each time I come back there seems to be something new I'm hit with. This time I was told I had a $5 office visit fee. Instantly I knew this made no sense. I've been there on 4 previous visit and at no time has this office visit fee ever been mentioned. Mind you this fee is in addition to the cleaning cost. I asked what the fee was for and I was advised the fee is a charge based on something with my insurance. Now I'm really puzzled, what does my insurance have to do with your office fee. I ask for documents of this so I can call my insurance. This is where knowing what your insurance covers comes in. I have spoken to my insurance on several occasions (dealing with his dental clinic) so I am fully aware of my coverage and how the fees work. At no time has my insurance ever advised about office fees. I waited a few and the front desk reception comes back to advised me the office fee was an error and the fee I was charge the last visit would be credited back to me. I cannot understand how every time I go for my cleaning a new fee or charge is being sprung on me. As I left the office and was waiting on a receipt for today's cleaning, I overheard someone at the front desk speaking with a client. My biggest issue is that the conversation should have been held in a separate room not at the front desk where everyone in the lobby could hear. I basically heard all his dental issues, what the doctor is recommending him to get done and why he "can't" say no to the procedures. Isnt there HIPPA laws when it comes to things like this? I should not be hearing this and would have been upset if this was my information being disclosed to everyone in the room. Secondly I hear them giving him the same excuse why a person can't say no to the procedures or they wont be able to be seen at that location. The biggest excuse they gave him is "the doctor could lose their license if they over look what they want him to get done. This I know for a fact is not true. You can always go to another dentist if one deny you service. If you go to this company make sure you know what your insurance plan covers and how much they can charge. When in doubt ask for a printout with the code and fee so you can run it by your insurance. If you dont have insurance shop around before settling with a cost. Luckily I havent had to have any major work done. The only work I've done has been cleanings and my cleanings have been good. Overall the clinic is ok. As I've said the hygienist I have been seeing is truly amazing. She is very gentle with the cleaning yet gets all the areas cleaned, even my wisdom teeth which are my problem areas. She has given me recommendations on tools to help with those areas. Overall she is just the sweetest. She is a gem to the company and I look forward to coming to her each time. She is the reason for the high stars. Please don't rely solely on my review, do give this place and try and judge for yourself. Maybe you will have a great experience. If you do decide on this clinic I hope you can get her as your hygienist.

The only reason this is not a lower rating is because the dentist herself was very sweet and professional during our initial interaction, but unfortunately, the rest of the visit was extremely off-putting. I called in advance to set up an appointment for a standard cleaning and X-rays, and I double-checked that my insurance was accepted. Upon arrival, they took X-rays and performed an iTero scan, followed by a brief meeting with the doctor. However, the receptionist holding a clipboard with a price sheet informed me that my insurance "isn't great," that they don't get paid from it, and that it would only cover the X-rays. She then claimed that due to a diagnosis of excess plaque, a basic cleaning wasn't covered and quoted me several hundred dollars out-of-pocket for a deeper type of clean, alongside a treatment plan for a retainer and Invisalign that totaled roughly $3,000. Knowing my benefits, I called my insurance company directly while standing right in the office, and my insurer confirmed that a standard, basic preventative cleaning was fully covered. What made the situation more uncomfortable was the atmosphere. When I politely questioned the front desk about why I was diagnosed with something requiring a non-covered procedure rather than a basic cleaning, the staff began whispering to each other, and other team members started peeking around the corner at me. It made me feel alienated and embarrassed over standard insurance questions. Additionally, no periodontal probing or charting was performed during the entire exam to justify the upcharge. I ultimately took my treatment sheet and walked out without getting the cleaning done. I have since gone to a new dentist, and the contrast was night and day. My new provider completed a full head, neck, lymph node, and jaw examination, performed a thorough periodontal chart (showing healthy numbers of 2s and 3s), and confirmed my teeth look great. They even had to retake the X-rays because the images sent from Gentle Dentistry were not to their standards. Even paying completely out-of-pocket at my new dentist, the full exam and basic cleaning came out to just $150, far more affordable and transparent than what I was quoted here. While the doctor herself was pleasant, the sales-driven atmosphere at the front desk, the lack of standard diagnostic steps like perio charting, and the awkward treatment from the staff made it clear this office was not the right fit for me.
