My mom is currently undergoing rehabilitation here but there is one particular employee I would…read morelike to mention who has gone above and beyond the call of duty and above her job description. Her name is Teri (not sure if I spelled her name correctly) and she works at the front desk answering the phones. One day I couldnt get ahold of my mom because they dont have phones in the rooms and my moms cell phone was dead, so Teri left her post at work and went into my mom's room and found her phone and plugged it in and charged it then had my mom call me. Another time I had one of my friends go down there who lives in Alameda (i live out of state) and facetimed me from his phone when he got down there and handed his phone to my mom so I could video chat with her. She had been sleeping and woke her up when he got there so she looked a little disheveled. The next day I had mentioned this to Teri and she got my mom cleaned up and then charged my moms phone and called me from it herself and then handed it to my mom when i answered so i could talk to her. My mom is not always with it and will forget to plug her phone in when it dies, so it is nice to know that Teri is there when I need her to go into my moms room and charge her phone for her when it dies, that is not her responsibility but she doesn't mind doing it at all. I appreciate that. It is employees like Teri who make me feel at ease during a time when i am so far away and can't go in to the facility myself. I am so thankful for Teri!

Negative stars if I could…read more Where to begin... You have a choice to choose your nursing home, I didn't know this! And if you are not happy with the care, you also have a choice to pick another place to get you or your loved one transferred to. This place should not still be in existence. Review long overdue. I tried to report them. But didn't know how. My 88 yr old dad got Covid May 2024. He was transferred here after his ER visit and few days of hospital stay to get OT/ PT. He got put into an isolation room where they moved the patient before him without letting the family know, they came looking for their mom after my dad had been transferred into the room. Then we saw the sign outside the front door that there was a scabies outbreak (that lasted at least another month more). My dad needed assistance to walk to the bathroom. The bathroom was Out of Order! They gave him a commode with no access to soap or sink for clean water. Because he was supposed to be in isolation for 4 more days, no one came to help him! The morale was so low here. Not a single heart beat in this place. He got up by himself to use the commode and walk around the room. Then one night (day 3), he was cold, so he asked for an additional blanket, the staff took the blanket from the previous patient's bed (the bedding had still not been changed and washed a few days later), and gave it to him! That is not ok in general, all kinds of health violations. did I mention earlier there was a scabies outbreak??!? #1 way to spread scabies in nursing home was thru bedding!!! The outbreak has been going on for a few weeks and was out of control. After the supposed 4 days of isolation, they still did not take my dad off. I argued with the staff. Still stuck in the same room with old bedding, with no help or any PT/OT services. We had to seek out his case manager to ask for a care conference. They did not call us first. So finally the next day we met up together, they said he needed PT/OT for at least a month. I laughed out loud. At the end of the meeting, they asked if we had any questions and we told them, yes, "I would like to have my dad discharged immediately." Thankfully he was completely able to walk around and use the bathroom by himself, we signed an AMA discharge agreement, and he left the next morning.

When grandma was first transferred there to recover from her stroke, she was in a room right next to the nursing station in that area. The center was also very accommodating and allowed one of us to stay with her throughout the night for a while. When her condition stabilized, she was moved to another room in a different wing. The room sizes vary between 2 and 3 beds, with the former costing more (how much I don't remember). There are also several dining rooms that also serve as activity rooms. Every month, there is an extensive schedule of activities, ranging from coffee socials to movie viewings (with popcorn!). Bay View is ideally located less than 5 minutes away from Alameda hospital, so in the event special medical attention is needed, the transport wouldn't take too long. Grandma had speech, occupational, and physical therapists during her stay there. I don't recall how often they were. Meals are served around 8 AM (or so), 12:30 PM, and 5:30 PM. Grandma had special instructions for only pureed food and thickened liquids. BUT this one time, there was a huge piece of chicken, sitting in the pureed chicken. Good thing grandma caught it. There were different cuisines served each day. Too bad we can't include and exclude cuisines to our liking. Ensure nutritional drinks were available upon request. This center is very flexible in the visiting hours, with a back entrance when the front lobby is closed at 8 PM. The procedure is to sign in, take a visitors badge, and sign out before you leave. There were even refreshments for visitors. Upon entering Bay View, you'll see the immense living room for dining, chatting, and even piano-playing should the mood strike you. The staff in the "Gold Coast" wing took good care of grandma. Thank you! Our family loves Marites and Annie. Marites was like a part of our family. She knew each one of our visiting family members by name and our relations. She was always very prompt with our requests. Annie had a way of getting grandma to eat when I find difficult sometimes. When grandma passed, Marites gave us hugs. I will miss having conversations her. Fannie and Sheila were also of great help during grandma's stay there.

Filed a complaint with osha to get this checked out, but obviously the staff can't care enough to get rid of infestations, imagine what they do care about. Under PT Xu, Ben, Nurse Annie, and OT Debbie's professional guidance and instruction, my older family member has already been making remarkable progress and now can throw/kick balls/balloons, do sit-to-stands, sing & speak loudly, brush teeth, comb hair, and spends most of the day mentally & physically stimulated & engaged in activities rather than sleeping on the bed. Our older family member's progress would not have been possible without their expertise, support, and perseverance. Debbie & Ben are diligent and creative with their PT/OT approaches, tailoring it to each older adult's interests and abilities. Stephanie is meticulous in cleansing and taught us all sorts of techniques to more feasibly do regular cleanings. We are grateful for amazing and experienced healthcare personnel like Dr. Xu, Ben, Debbie, Stephanie, and Nurse Annie who go the extra mile to take care of their patients. Each visit from these staff members is filled with cheer and new learnings. Thank you for making a positive difference.

There is garage parking, but it's for the workers. The receptionist is nice and requires a Covid test before entering. The place itself is well kept. It's nice and clean, there's an outdoor patio where you can get some sun. A few tables and chairs. Flowers and a small foundation. There's two sections of the building. There's no order or weird smell, this facility is very clean. For the most part, the nurses are really nice, kind and talkative once you get to know them. My mother goes there everyday so she knows all of their names. I have a few favorites because they give my dad amazing care. Even the male nurses and workers are great! They would come in and adjust my dad so he doesn't get bed sores. The respiratory therapist, Gina is amazing! She's so sweet. She's been taking care of my dad really well. Some of the nurses/CNA that I really appreciate and want to show recognition for their hard work is Maribel, Genesis, Michelle, Amanda, Sophia, Daisy, Edwin, Patrick, Ricky, Masa (spelling?) and a few others that I can't remember their names. I mostly know their faces when I come visit. My mother wanted to add: Karen, Liza, Edith who are social workers and they have been very helpful. The nurses, cna's, care takers are all careful when it comes to my dad's care. He can't be on his right side due to the brain injury he has. I would also like to say, the director, Shirley is very kind. She has been a great help during this difficult time for all of us. She's been really accommodating to my mother which I am very thankful. This place and staff is wonderful. They also decorate the courtyard for the holidays (see photos). No negative feedback at all. I've never seen such wonderful aides anywhere--warm, kind, incredibly hardworking (esp. the night aides) and patient with constant demands. The doctor is intelligent, top notch and the nurses & PT's are also highly skilled and professional. I enjoyed seeing my visitors in the sunny courtyard with weekly live music! They found the neighborhood safe and parking easy except during street sweeping days. I was surprised that the food was delicious. (I guess I expected airline food.) Even the director of admissions impressed me with her sense of humor as she adeptly dealt with an insurance issue and knew more than the insurance company. My thanks to BAHC for a great experience!
