West Seattle is a cool, no frills muni course with amazing views of the city, tree lined fairways with a challenging yet forgiving layout. Was a great course to walk, good pace (we finished in 4 hours), nice staff (shout to Daniel in the grill). Great price and tons of fun! Can't wait to make my way back! read more

What unbelievable potential this place has. The course is an awesome layout. Yes, Winter golf can be muddy at times, but it's a great test of golf and really challenging in spring/summer/fall. The club house is pretty dated, but if they remodeled (like they did at Jefferson) and add a Range/practice area this would be one of the best clubs in the area... for sure! On the downside, Homelessness encampments on the drive in are not exactly welcoming. Clean that area up and add a range there. read more

They've switched to the "dynamic pricing" model that many other businesses are using, and I've not been able to actually get any "twilight" pricing since then... even on a Monday, starting at 5pm, in September. I was there this evening at 5pm, and asked for a power cart, and the guy at the counter rudely said that the carts needed to be back by 7:30, and I'd never get in 9 holes by then. So I walked, and guess what... I got in 9 holes and was back by 7pm. Definitely didn't seem busy enough to warrant any dynamic pricing adjustment. read more

Every course is busy on a sunny day in the NW and COVID but these people think they're special. Staff here is grossly rude and pushy under the guise of "pace of play." 1st tee box had children in front of us and clubhouse used speaker multiple times to berate us to tee off when kids we're teeing off from the golds. Irresponsible and rude - the reason people hate golf and golfers. You guys ain't no chambers bay - get over yourselves. read more

Beautiful course, with some fun holes. However, I got major food poisoning from a polish dog at the turn. Paid $90 for a round that was difficult to finish because I started seeing stars on the back 9. Went home and threw up for the rest of the night. That doesn't super encourage me to come back, and if I ever do I'll be steering clear of the restaurant. read more

My first time out to West Seattle Golf Course. Since I was wanting a driving range this morning this place was not it, but I already had plans for what I was going to do here. I checked out the breakfast menu a few weeks ago and for a small bar and grill, I was really impressed by the selection on the menu. I ordered the country scramble with sausage, ham, green peppers, onions and cheddar cheese topped country gravy. I wasn't disappointed. Jake, the chef, scrambled the eggs soft just the way I wanted it along with a toasted crispy english muffin. He even pulled some parsley from the garden to garnish my plate. Both the breakfast and lunch menu are very inviting. I sat outside and met a lot of nice people. This golf club is very friendly, from Taryn who took my order to the ladies at the pro shop. It may not be hoity-toit, but the beautiful course, the ambiance, the food and the camaraderie make for a very comfortable and easy-going atmosphere. I will definitely be back! read more

For a public golf course this place is really great. Price breaks late in the day, great views of Seattle, a nice mix of tough and easy holes and if you play a round of 18 (and keep your receipt) you get a free hotdog halfway through. Once you get to holes 13 and 15 on the back 9 you see my favorite view of Seattle. read more

Great course, better staff. Son played. I couldn't play due to health issues. Paid for cart but didn't charge me extra to watch him as some courses do. Part of youth program which makes it affordable for us. Thank you West Seattle Golf. You are a great advocate for youth golf. read more

Flew into Seattle for Mariners game and Golf. This is an excellent old school course. Well maintained and a great variety of holes. You are challenged off the tee but landing areas are generous. Greens have deceptive slope to them but are not extreme and are in good condition. You get a beautiful view of Seattle while playing back 9. Reasonably priced and they honor Youth on Course program. Locals are friendly. Make sure you have your car's navigation system on or google maps when driving to course. read more

Trash. Tell your Marshall we won't skip a hole when the group behind us is 3 holes behind us. I'm a 6 handicap and I've never been more micromanaged in my life. The course was in poor condition so all my balls sunk, then I was hassled by the Marshall to find them quicker. I'm sure they have good employees but this guy is making me want to never return. read more

This is a pretty good course for being in the middle of West Seattle. They offer deals where you can get a cart and 18 holes for $40. I haven't seen or heard of that anywhere else. The course was clean. It's a public golf course and taken care of well. There are some hills and challenges that make it worth the effort to play through and try it. The cons are that there isn't a range to warm up or just hit a bucket of balls. Also, the clubhouse is old and needs to either be remodeled or just torn down and rebuilt. Parking is not an issue at the course. read more

The course is great, maintained well. If I had to mention anything other would be about the golf carts. Engine powered carts should be banned especially with the air quality that we're experiencing today. At each stop we felt like we were inhaling so much fumes from the cart, and we were. That concerned me above all. I HIGHLY recommend the course shift gears to battery powered carts. Otherwise the course was beautiful, that staff are awesome, we will be back again. Made a tee time today, thanksgiving day, for 2 at 9am online. Got there at 8:30am to check in and the check in lady, Savanah let us know there were no cart rentals today because she was leaving for the day by 1:30pm. We asked if we could play 9 holes and we would DEFINITELY be done by 1:30 for her to leave. We got NO CARTS TODAY. There was nothing posted on the website that there were no cart rentals today. When I booked online the tee times were packed. As we left the course, because we were not staying to play without a cart, there was NO ONE on the course. So West Seattle golf course can thank Savanah today for no revenue for golf. If you don't want anyone to book on thanksgiving to play golf then don't allow bookings. Happy Thanksgiving! read more

The golf is what you would expect from a municiple course. There are some great views of downtown Seattle from a few of the holes. What I was really impressed by was the food at the turn. The club sandwich and fries was well worth the round of golf! Best club sandwich I've ever had and the fries tasted like they had been made in duck fat. Good course for being right in the middle of a city. Impressive. Every time I've played my round has been cut short due to the onset of darkness, so I can't review the last 3-4 holes. But I've always enjoyed playing here - it's a good challenge for any skill player. Only hitch is that there's no driving range for you to warm up. For a municipal public course, it's in absolutely fantastic shape. It's got some really good hills, so if you're not used to walking a course, but would like to "give it a shot", you might want to wait for a different one. read more

I absolutely love this course. When you look at the price paid compared to quality of course, this place is bomb. As an example, we recently played on a summer weekday deal that included power cart, a soda, hot dog and 18 holes for $40. Can't beat that anywhere. The course itself is well maintained. It was a little annoying to see the people mowing the fairway as you were trying to take your shot... but this is a public course, right? Sadly, the foxes that the course were known for are now gone... coyote's have chased them away. Still plenty of wildlife to see though! read more

We had a tee time Friday afternoon. By the 5th hole we had caught up to two groups and we're waiting at every hole. By the 11th there were four groups waiting at the tee box. At that point we decided to see if we could get refunded for the back 9 instead of playing it. However, all they could offer was a super twilight price the next time we play because this happens Thursday through Sunday. If we make a tee time I would expect a course to know how to schedule out and turn away walk ond especially if this is a known issue. There was no marshal or anybody to regulate the pace of play or back up. I'd give a review of the course, but we only played 10 holes. Disappointing experience. We were robbed, nobody should expect to wait behind multiple groups all round. read more

I consider West Seattle to be the best of city-owned municipal courses within a 30-mile range. Continual improvements, great greens and a layout with some very challenging holes make this the best choice for serious golfers looking to play a public course on the west side. And let's not forget the excellent scenery of the Seattle skyline and wetland areas the course navigates around, which sometimes allows golfer a glimpse of a fox trotting around. Especially considering the impact of traffic congestion, I consider myself lucky to have a course like this with a large, long-standing membership base that almost feels makes this place feel like a semi-private facility. Plans to expand the clubhouse and add a driving range are on the horizon and I will then add another star to this rating. Hit 'em straight and far! read more

This is probably one of the better public courses in the Seattle area, so it's fitting that they host the Seattle Amateur open every year. It's not too difficult, but their greens and fairways are really well maintained, and the greens can get pretty fast! I really like the design of the front nine, which just really demands accurate approach shots, while the back nine is more stringent on good tee shots. The back nine pretty much consists of switch backs, like 5 par 4s in a row, where you play down one way, then the next hole comes back up right next to it, and the next hole goes down right next to that, back and forth and back and forth. It gets boring as all of those holes look pretty much the same. The prices are slowly increasing, but the pace of play is pretty good, and the conditions are in really good shape! Definitely worth playing here to sharpen your game! read more

Where do I even start.. First, they aerated the greens on the day we went golfing and didn't give any discounted rates. Second, there was a GIGANTIC wasp nest on the 5th Hole on the right side near the trees with about 50 wasps flying in and out, leading to me being stung on the head and hand. This is extremely dangerous and severely negligent on their part. If someone was allergic they could have been in serious danger. I called the pro-shop to notify them of it (no answer) and emailed them (no answer). Terrible customer service. I would not play this course again unless someone from the course contacts me about this. read more

Of the Seattle munis, West Seattle is the best for maintaining a handicap. You can play well, put the ball in the wrong spot on some of the greens, and come out with a large number. Good exercise walking 14-18; bring a couple of bananas and a power bar, or you'll be pooped before you finish. Unless you're a bomber, holes such as the par 4 eighth and par 5 twelfth beg for strategy. Playing this course doesn't get old. Thank goodness they're not going to ruin the ninth for a driving range. Bring a club weight for warmup, enjoy the big practice green and you'll have a fun experience. This time of year watch for swampy spots off the fairways. read more

Love the course love all Seattle courses but my goodness these guys haven't a clue of how to mix a Bloody Mary! I know we go to the courses to play golf and I get that but man here and jefferson literally the 2 worst I have ever had in my life. But the course from the blacks is no joke!! This course is sneaky-difficult and for the money ($30 on a weekday to walk) it turned out ot be a great deal. Not the most imaginative, not the longest, but the elevation changes and sloping fairways (particularly on the back 9) make for quite a challenge. I don't think I had more than a couple flat lies on the entire back 9. Some of the greens are also much harder to negotiate than you think standing in the fairway. As a walking course it will get you some good exercise. Again, especially the back 9. My only critique is the front and back are very different...front has three par 5s, back only has one. Front is wider open and flatter, but a little longer. There was also some inconsistency in the greens, some ran lightning some were super slow. But, again, for $30 a great deal. If I go back I will (and would recommend to you) hit 3-wood or iron a lot more off the tee. Many of the holes require you to really shape the ball and running too far through the fairway is definately in play. Nice challenge. read more

By far, the best municipal course in the region!! Open fairways, challenging but not overly so, nice views on the back 9, and 14-16 excellent and interesting holes! Downsides: I prefer to walk, and the last 4 holes on the back are very similar and kind of steep. Conditions: Only so-so when the course is wet. As with all muni's, wait times can be long. read more

Haven't played here long, but I really enjoy this course. Has some descent length to it, but like other reviewers noted the greens are beastly. The back nine is tad bit overrated relative to how Premier Golf advertises the nine on their site. Every muni track in Denver has a view of the city's skyline and there are some in and around Seattle that have better views. The great part of the back nine, rather, is the elevated greens and tees. The provide a great test. I've played here a half dozen times so far and have been paired up only with fantastic people who love golf and are very knowledgeable, that maybe my favorite part of the course. Not crazy about the price a little high in my opinion especially when courses like Druids Glen and The Classic are similar in price. Definitely, better than your average muni and my favorite of the "Premier" courses. read more

good public course for the money. great views of seattle and elliott bay in the back 9. pretty tough course, with a slope rating of 126 from the blues. the back 9 is much harder than the front, with slants on the last 4 fairways that will roll a well hit drive off the fairway and into the long grass. weekends can be painful because they pack ppl on too close together. my longest round of 18 ever was at this course, took about 5.5 hours, which is ridiculous. they need to space ppl out more and/or tell the ranger to do his job and hurry those slow golfers with 1 and 1/2 holes open in front of them and 5 groups waiting for each shot behind them. Great Muni course with views of the Seattle skyline from mostly tight greens nestled between thick trees and foliage. I'm still pretty much a beginner, lucky to shoot 100, and this place kicked my ass! Course it didn't help that I was hungover and provided a good laugh for those around the 1st tee as I topped my first stroke and barely cleared the ball past the ladies tee. Once I got comfortable with the fact that I was going to pretty much suck on this round, I loosened up and enjoyed the scenery. Yardage here is long, and green fees are reasonable for such a prime piece of real estate. Lots of elevation change and some blind shots. Piece of advice: Don't buy a hotdog after the 9th. Honestly, this had to be the worst hot dog I have ever tasted. It went right in the trash. read more

I've played this course for 35 years. It's not US Open quality, but great value for what you pay, great scenery, and it's a challenge. Kind of boring (and Hilly) after 14, but overall it's a lot of fun. #3 is a short par 3 that looks fairly easy, but is a lot tougher than it looks. OK, the round of golf is 5 to 6 hours which is hurtful and somewhat shameful. The level of golfers that are out there and the golf course's attitude towards piling people out on the golf course really detract from the value of the golf course. The marshalls out at the golf course are great and they do what they can but I wish they could be a bit more assertive. read more

I'll always consider West Seattle to be my home course. They keep it in great shape for a public course... I usually play here 6 times a year. I'd play it more often if I didn't live in Issaquah... This course sets up perfectly for a grip-it-rip-it style. They have some of the biggest fairways ever and if you happen to slice the living hell out of a tee shot, no worries, you'll most likely still have an opening at the green. I highly recommend playing this course in the winter time when the grass is sanded and the rain blowing sideways. The way I see it, if you can shoot a decent score in these conditions, you'd be able to take down Augusta National in your sleep... Point being, the course plays about 1000 yards longer in the winter time and will prepare you for harder courses. read more

The course was very nice and plush green. We played in the middle of Winter so it was difficult to make it though all the mud but that was season related. I will definitely be playing again in the summer to give it a fair chance. Price was comparable to other golf courses of this quality but would recommend playing other Oki courses because they're a little better kept and the staff is more accommodating.
