Beautiful small plaza with bubbling water and play features, along with a small slide, and a very…read moretall slide made out of an old shipping container. This is a great addition to the budding Harbor District, next to UWM's Freshwater Sciences building. A few bike lock stations and a bubbler and a bottle fill station make it a nice pit stop on a ride. Iron gates with art, open up to a seasonal kayak launch. Perhaps a straight shot kayak launch with less obstacles and right angles is needed here. I was in the area picking up a DIY fall river cleanup kit from Milwaukee Riverkeeper, who would probably appreciate a helping hand with occasional debris, if you spot it. It takes all of us, sometimes. There's nice signage of individual and corporate sponsors, who helped make this plaza a reality, and help keep making Milwaukee a great place on a Great Lake.

Great views and pleasant. We didn't stay long at this "park". As another reviewer mentioned, it's a…read morevertical container with 2 slides. My kids loved it though. The hight was great and so was the slide experience. Every kid love water! There were 2 hand pumps and a mini splash pad. There's parking on the street and trucks to take pictures with. There wasn't any bathrooms from what I could see. The time we went, there was garbage around unfortunately. The park is worth checking out and spending a little time there if it's not too busy. Enjoy!

This is perhaps one of the oldest parks in the city and was given to the city by George Walker (no…read morerelation to George Walker Bush and family), one of the Founding Fathers of Milwaukee as what was to be the centerpiece of his settlement (imagine the area before 1-94). This park has seen better days to be sure, but has changed with the times to offer a wading pool for kids with ample benches for parents, and a new (2013) playground for kids. The comfort station needs work, and I am saddened to see that the fountain was removed in the late 20th century. The park hosts a farmer's market most of the warm season (several days a week) and many of the vendors are Hmong families offering Latin, and old style Midwestern veggies as well as some Asian exotics as well. This is a great place to bring kids if you need a break! The wading pool, and new playground are truly amazing for the babies on board set. I wish it had more benches not attached to the play pond for kids since it is sometimes hard to come here and have a nice lunch on the 1 or 2 benches. I love that it is still very much a square on the West and South Sides of the park where 19th century homes (some in great shape, and some needing work) circle the park. As one of the oldest parks in the city/county, and one of the few given to the people of Milwaukee by a founding father I feel this park should see investment due to its historical importance. Still, it is a great place for a midday picnic (bring your own blanket).

It's a nice park when not over run by the school. Two problems are that the school takes up all the public parking around the park on school days into the evening, and in the morning and the afternoon the parent traffic chokes the immediate vicinity. A second weakness are these strange non-functional exercise machines in a poor state of disrepair, quite the eyesore.

Walker Square Park - This would be great if only there was a crosswalk here.
