But I went to Douglas Liquors on probably 15 occasions and never got a "How you doin' today? Did you find everything you were looking for?" or a "Hey, I notice you get the ____ a lot, but have you tried the ____? I really like it." When the person behind the counter has more charm than a three-bean salad, I'm a little more likely to become a regular. Nothing really wrong with the place, but nothing to keep me coming back again and again. I suggest Gallery of Wines for beer and wine (and charm and service), or Liquor World for the hard stuff.

And last thanksgiving we bought four bottles of 19 crimes red for our dinner and then realized all of them were expired by the date on the bottle by almost over a year! Either be diligent about knowing how to read born on, best buy dates, codes on bottles while you're in there or skip city spirits and head to gasbarro's.

Tonight we came in to buy a few gifts for our friends. We provided our IDs as requested, however, mine was not accepted because it was a few weeks expired. I informed the lady that due to this global pandemic, Massachusetts extended the validity of drivers licenses and ID cards until September 2020, and even longer for those expiring later in the summer (extended to December 2020). The RMV is also "not providing updated credentials to reflect the extended date". This information is also readily available on the Massachusetts.gov website. Despite both of us being in our 30s, I asked if my significant other could purchase instead and I could wait outside, but we were still denied. We had to leave, run an errand, and then drive back just so that my significant other could re-enter the store, re-pick out the liquors again, and then purchase again. Overall, I think the store itself has a great selection, but the customer service really needs work-- very unfortunate for a promising business. It looks a lot smaller from the outside than it actually is, and their wine selection is actually rather robust! I grew up in Wrentham, and now live in Boston, so I'm used to being able to locate good wines in the city very easily at the larger wine shoppes. this place had two rather "boutique" wines that I was looking for, one from Chile and one from Portugal when I was visiting my parents last... The woman who was working the register even commented on one of them, which surprised me since a small "packie" typically doesn't have someone who knows wine that well. their beer selection is spot on ranging form domestic to import to microbrew, and their spirits are good too, having some of the new 'spin offs' from Absolute Boston and other top shelf choices.
