Yankee Spirits really has it all when it comes to wine and spirits. The store is large, clean, and well organized. The employees I interacted with were friendly and helpful. They only had one register open during peak hours, but the associate was moving quickly to assist customers and kept the line moving. They've also apparently expanded into parking lot maintenance--at one point, a shopping cart was being used to fill a pothole outside. So, at the end of the day, they're clearly committed to making the best of every situation whether it be working short or working without asphalt. read more

A huge warehouse full of every option you can think of for beer, wine, spirits, mixers and etc. Prices are reasonable and the store hours are good too (I'm pretty sure I've been here on a Sunday before). Staff is really helpful and accomodating and there are free tastings sometimes as well. You can even sign up for their newsletter online to find out about specials. I have been coming here for years to stock up on wine. They do carry all sorts of alcohol and craft beers but usually I go for wine. Many of the everyday wines that in other stores are $10-$15 are a 2-3 dollars cheaper here, which is pretty significant if you are buying several. In fact it pains me when I run out of wine and have to pay that extra few dollars for what I know I would pay at Yankee. For example Bogle Cabernet Sauvignon is a consistently decent inexpensive bottle of wine; neighborhood liquor store $12.99 here $8.99. That's like a buy 3 and get 1.5 free sale! I also enjoy reading the wine information posted on specific bottles when I am trying to find some new wines. The staff is very helpful too. Sometimes I will go in with a list of great wines under $15 and try to find them...usually I can find a few. If you like wine you should give it a shot...or a wine glass read more

One star because I have to give one star- So the store needs to have a clear policy when an adult comes into your establishment to purchase liquor and there is a person that's with them that is under 21 there should be some type of sign. No adult wants to be spoken to like a child-to be told you're under 21. Child cannot touch items and cannot be in the store with you. When you make a purchase you should have a better policy you should stop giving dirty looks and laughing and you shouldn't hold somebody's purchase after they just purchase liquor hostage to the side until the Rude manager comes over to speak to you like a child. Yankee Spirits has to be my husbands favorite store of all time. What's not to like? The booze selection is impressive, with everything from Hendrick's to Pitu. The wine selection's impeccable - looking for Gavi? Bourdeaux? Nero d'Avola? It's all there, along with the cheapest of cheaps and your standard table wines like Smoking Loon and Clois du Bois. The beer? It's a world of beers, including Dogfish Head and the Caribbean oddity, Carib (which I happen to love). My review is missing a star because the acrid and offensive odor coming from the open-air glass-breaking room of returned bottles is just too much to bear sometimes. It cuts our browsing time down substantially, as I refuse to spend my time inhaling the stench of old beer. Gross. The parking lot is fine, I think - if you can figure out your way to navigate in and out. We literally go here to load up on handles of booze as it's the cheapest within 20 miles (yes, we've checked!) and it essentially a one-stop shop for our imbibing needs, of which there are many. read more

Expansive Diverse Friendly (Warning - essentially a beer-only review.) I've tried, fam. I believe in shopping local, and I patronize my favorite Rhode Island stores that each put in great effort to stock a variety of intriguing brewers across myriad styles, at fair prices. But sheesh, their job is an uphill battle when RI doesn't enjoy the distribution Massachusetts does. Walking down the beer aisle at Yankee Spirits is like having the scales fall from one's eyes and seeing for the first time. Almanac, Prairie, Oxbow, Night Shift, TRVE, and coolers with Trillium, Lawson's Finest, etc...oh sure, we have those, no problem. I also get the sense they trade some special one-offs into their possession, like Modern Times and Pipeworks. C'est magnifique. Prices are commensurate with how limited or special the selection you pick is...so you can spend a little or a lot, but it's in line with the "you get what you pay for" axiom. Also, heads up regarding the bottle deposit fee in MA if you're from out of state - small but relevant. For new-find hunters, their Twitter feed @yankeeattleboro is a notification dream as well. The selection is great and probably unparalleled in the area. However, the low score is due to their poor business practice of mislabeling their wine recommendations, i.e they label the wine to have a Parker score of 90 for a 2016 vintage but the actual bottle is a 2018. This is very misleading. They blame it on their distributors, but how difficult could be for the Yankee management to talk their distributors and say - here we are keeping things at a higher standard? read more

You get 1 point for every pedestrian hit, but you don't get any credit if you make them break any of their beer bottles. A skilled player knows to run down people walking into Yankee in order to avoid this.* - I pick out a shopping carriage. I love that this former grocery store has so much to pick from that you're going to need a carriage to hold it all. - As soon as I walk in there will likely be someone giving out samples. If it's a busy Saturday afternoon then you may even be able to get a taste of a couple of different wines, a beer or two, and some sort of mixed drink that you wouldn't be caught dead buying. Sometimes it's best to hit each line twice. Much like how you don't want to grocery shop while hungry, you don't want to liquor shop while sober. - There are aisles upon aisles of wines and liquors. Every kind of alcohol you could want has its own section with about 41,302 different varities to choose from** - Personally I always bank a hard left and head straight for the beer. If I tried one of every beer they have in stock I'd be drunk for 10 years straight before I finished. I start with a case of Sam Light, grab some sort of seasonal 12 pack, and typically a 6 pack of IPA. Then I start looking for the beers I haven't had. Today's trip found a bottle of Blue Hills Wampatuck Wheat, a Harpoon 100 Barrel Catamount Maple Wheat, a Southern Trail Extra Pale Hoppe, and a six of Flying Dog Raging Bitch. With the girlfriend at my side two bottles of wine and two sixes of cider also made their way into the cart. - I close my eyes and hand my card to the cashier. I hate seeing beer prices because I know the stuff I go for isn't cheap. It hurts a little knowing I could get 3 cases of Natty Lite for half the money. So I honestly can't tell you how the prices at Yankee compare because I do my best to not look. All I know is that a trip to Yankee is like a trip to Target...it's impossible to go in without dropping at least $100. - I get home and try to find room in the basement. Do I have an alcohol problem? Yes, I do. It's that my basement isn't big enough to fit all my booze. This place gets 5 stars from me because of the impressive selection and because it makes shopping for booze fun. * This game is best played only in your head, as running down pedestrians is likely illegal. ** A complete exageration if not an all out lie. Since the age of 21 (ok, 20 if we're being honest), Yankee Spirits has been the local mecca for all things alcoholic, and it is still my go-to liquor store to this day (I won't mention how many years later). It is huge, so if you're looking for a quick in-and-out, you probably won't find it here, unless you've been a patron for the better part of a decade... ahem... Half of the store is devoted to wine. Global wine, sorted by aisle. You have your Italian and Spanish wines. New finds from Chile and Australia. And then there's the old standby Cali favorites. The prices are reasonable and usually clearly marked. Rotating featured wines have detailed explanation cards and staff picks. This is also the section that garners high marks for customer service. Any time I have spent more than five minutes in an aisle, someone has asked if I need help finding anything. Oh, and don't go anywhere near the first aisle, which holds the sparkling, on New Year's Eve; it's like walking into Times Square. Next there are three aisles of liquor and mixers and accessories. I'm dropping a star for this section as the past few times I have been, it has been under stocked. Granted, it was during the holidays. Finally, you have your double-wide beer aisle, in which I always find myself wandering aimlessly, fascinated by the variety. Of course there are the big names, but there are also beers I've never heard of, along with local favorites. Checking out always reminds me of a supermarket, but lines are usually managed well. I attempted to return hard to find beer bottles and cans that I purchased at the Swansea location and the redemption machines rejected them. An employee told me take them to liquor store "up the street". The employee said that it's the computer and the company that owns them and that Yankee Spirits is not responsible. I told him that I disagree and that they are responsible for refunding the containers since I bought them there. This is a very bad policy. They should post a sign that if you purchase beer here, you will pay for the deposits but we may not reimburse you! read more

I LOVE Dark N' Stormies, but always have a hard time finding the supplies. At Yankee Spirits, I was able to find a handle of black rum for $15, and DIET ginger beer. Just build your own mixed six pack! We've been known to go in with the intention of just picking up a 12 pack or two, and leave with a carriage full of micro brews. This place is heaven on Earth to beer lovers! 2) WINE! You could spend hours wandering down the aisles browsing the wine selection. They're organized by type and region, and they even post reviews on a bunch of them. 3) PRICES! It sucks that Massachusetts taxes alcohol now, but Yankee keeps their prices pretty low. They certainly buy in large enough volumes to keep the prices down! 4) SERVICE! Completely overwhelmed? No idea where to start? Just grab the attention of one of the staff members out on the floor or behind the customer service desk, and they will gladly help you. If they can't help you, they will find someone who can. I went in for a nice bottle of champagne for a wedding gift, and had absolutely no idea what I wanted other than a price range. One of the guys there happily walked around with me telling me about the good bottles, and he also warned me of the overpriced ones that I shouldn't be fooled by. The liquor selection is also quite impressive, but I don't generally find myself shopping in those aisles, so I won't go into any detail there. Just steer clear of the bottle redemption area. Like a toystore for someone that wants to abuse their liver. No one holds a candle to Yankee Spirits. Kappy's becomes just another package store after you bask in the glow of Yankee Spirits. I've traveled many a mile to get down there and stock up on the delicious cornucopia that is their beer selection. Best around. Some places might carry a couple varities of a particular brand, Yankee Spirits carries them all. Things I didn't know existed (Stroh's Light? Naragansett Porter?) and things I didn't know were still being produced (Bud Dry) can be found here. And it's not just about your regular crap beer, every great British brew is here. Every over-hopped microbrewed nonsense is here. Dozens of types of ciders. Gift packs. Specialty brews. Seasonal brews. You name it, it exists here. It's almost overwhelming to go here, but there's nothing quite as satisfying as loading up for a camping trip or tailgating adventure with the selection at Yankee Spirits. Even if it's out of the way (I live on the North Shore and I still go here), make it a point to stop in. Your liver will thank you. read more

Wow. I have never seen so much beer in one place in my entire life. We went into this place with the notion that we were going to get a couple beers we've never had before. Well, that took over an hour of browsing. I love beer. I drink a lot of beer. I've traveled pretty extensively to countries that take beer seriously and still I was completely overwhelmed by what Yankee Spirits had to offer. I felt like a teen again back when sneaking beers out of a friend's parent's liquor cabinet was a rare and exotic endeavor. If you need something alcoholic, this place will have it. First thing I noticed walking into the store - "Hmm, shopping carts...what kind of alchy would need a shopping cart??" 15 minutes, 3 six-packs of the beers I've never seen outside of Sunset Grill (check it out), and 2 bottles of wine later - "Doh!" Seriously, I'm just a social drinker. Amazing beer and wine selection with obscure brews from all over the world. When I'm looking for a new brew that I've discovered, I go to Yankee and usually leave with said brew AND a couple of soon-to-be-discovered, equally awesome brews. Haven't taken the time to browse through the spirits aisles yet but definitely will when time comes to start on the liquor cabinet. If you can dream it, Yankee has it. Shelf upon shelf of every kind of beer, wine, and liquor you can dream of. Fun tastings where you meet fabulous people and talk with real wine and beer nerds if that's your thing. Their craft beer selection is the best in the region. I found one of my favorite breweries at Yankee -- Pretty Things out of Cambridge. It seems like there are new beers on their shelves every time I go back. It's so fun to see what's next to try. It's a wine lovers paradise, and I believe they have bulk deals. It is not uncommon to see customers wheeling full shopping carts of vino up to the registers. The folks that work here are extremely nice, and they seem to have a really good rapport with each other, which is always fun to be amidst. One negative - Their redemption center sucks. It's primarily do-it-yourself machines until the machine for some reason won't accept your cans or bottles regardless of the fact that you bought them RIGHT THERE! And then good luck tracking down the person who is supposed to be at the register so they can count them out for you and write a receipt. And it reeks. Badly. But I'm not counting the redemption center against them. It's one of those icing-on-the-cake deals, you know? Aside from the fact that EVERYTHING is a bargain at Yankee (except for mixers and garnishes), there are ultra-special bargains to keep an eye out for. Yankee Spirits sets the gold standard for liquor stores with their phenomenal selection and great prices on beer and wine (they also have spirits but I rarely purchase those, so I can't comment). The store is enormous - I think is was an actually grocery store back in the 70s - and half of that is devoted to their wine selection. All the aisles are clearly marked by region and a huge amount of effort is put into educating the customer. Many of the selections will contain published reviews, Wine Spectator ratings, "Best Buys," store management favorites, recommendations for complementary food... If you're a novice to wine, or just want to try something new and different, you won't walk out empty handed! The store also publishes a regular newsletter and email updates with reviews and descriptions, upcoming sales, and in-store tastings. The place just rocks - hands down. I love Yankee for everything it is. (including the occasional rank smell of bottle deposits upon entry. no worries though, it lasts for like 10 seconds) The space is quite large and they always have whatever I'm looking for, even the smaller, more local, specialty items. Anytime I travel and discover a new brand of whiskey or gin or what have you, low and behold I come back home and Yankee has it on the shelf. Superb selection for sure. The prices here can't be beat. You can literally grab everything you need. They usually have fresh limes in the gin/wine aisle as well as tonic water and ginger ale for like 79 cents (1 liter bottles) out of the fridge. A better deal than what you'd find at some grocery stores! Tastings are held here pretty often which are pretty fun to partake in as you are browsing. This place is my go-to, and unless it's like 20 minutes to closing time for every packie and I'm nowhere near, this is the only place that I like to shop at. read more

This place is great especially during Christmas when you need to fund the perfect gifr. Usually you can fine a great bottle with glasses or some other cute item. Ive soent 100s of dollars here on Christmas presents and its always a winner. Also rhe place is huge and they have a lot of people on staff to help you find things. What makes a Rhode Islander make that trek over to mass? Alcohol clearly. There's a lot of wonderful places near me but I always seems to end up at yankee spirits. The store is huge. It's like a warehouse of happiness. If you want it they have it. They have any type of wine you could want and price wise they are usually cheaper than most. The craft beer aisle has many different options and you can mix a six pack and try them all without committing to a whole pack. The place is always clean and well organized. The staff are friendly knowledgable and helpful. Whenever I'm there someone always asks if I need help. An awesome thing about yankee too is that they have wine and beer tastings. Free unless you count the five dollar donation to st Jude's. Which hey for five bucks to drink for three hours is a bargain. They also offer a discount on those being sampled that night. Pretty darned okay. Despite the enormous capacity, there are gaps in the selection. Particularly dull was the whiskey section. The scotch selection could be better and they are missing some really great top shelf bourbons. Prices on the whiskey were 5-10 bucks higher than usual. What struck me was the amazing quantity of sugary FLAVORED kiddy alcohol. In addition to dozens of flavored vodkas, they also have every goofball flavor of candy schnapps, and worst of all: flavored Tequila. That's just plain yuck. I fully expected to see bottles of "Jolly Rancher Bubblegum Watermelon Gin". All this candy flavored booze makes me wonder, is it-- A. Guys trying to get girls drunk on 80 proof sugar-juice? B. Pedophiles? C. People around here drink like pussies? Now where this place really shines is in the BEER dept. 5 Stars for "Ray the Beer Guy" who is responsible for HUNDREDS of beers from everywhere. I moved to Attleboro from Mansfield just recently, and while I still dearly love Mansfield's Wines & More for their comprehensive, near-exhaustive beer selection, they're not the cheapest place in the world. Yankee Spirit has a very, very good selection of craft beer, but more importantly they're cheaper than W&M and are willing to slash prices on stock that's out of season. I recently picked up a sixer of Tremont's Nor'easter winter ale for $3, and only $8 for a 12-pack of Saranac's winter brews. (Not the most amazing breweries in the world, you say? Sure, but that's not the point.) W&M rarely dropped prices on their stock even when they were trying to clear it out. I left a lot of stuff behind that I wanted to try because I figured I should actually drink the beer I have in the house rather than buying tons and tons of new beer. Long story short, it's way too easy to fill the fridge these days. I may still head up to Mansfield if I'm looking for something particularly exotic, or if I want a mixed six pack of such, but Yankee'll be my go-to place when I know what I want, or if it's the end of the season and I want a package of cheap everyday brews. read more

Good lord, Yankee Spirits! I had heard a lot of great things about this liquor store, which, being in Attleboro, is quite the hike for a PVD girl like me. However, when I heard that they carried a new local cider, I decided that I would make a visit on the way back from a recent trip to Boston. I was immediately overwhelmed by the size and selection, but I suppose that is inevitable for a gigantic place like this. I wandered about the store aimlessly for a few minutes, before I found the beer, and knew that the cider would be nearby. I was hoping that, considering the sheer size of the store, they would carry some ciders that I had never heard of or tasted, but I was a bit disappointed in the end. Their cider selection was downright measly! I looked in the refrigerated section, and in the aisles next to the craft beer. I was also unimpressed by the service, or lack thereof. Lost in aisles and aisles of liquors, and fridge upon fridge of beers, alas, there was not a soul to be found to offer me some direction. Check-out was also slower than I would have liked. Perhaps it is a bit unfair to judge a store based on its cider selection, but I'm a cider girl, and I think that any place that boasts such a wide variety of brands should do so in all categories of alcoholic beverage. On the bright side, I was able to pick up the Homestead Hard Cider that I went there for, so all in all, not a total disaster! read more
