We love going to the West Linn Library. It is one of my daughter's favorite places and we try to go at least once a week. The staff at the West Linn library are top notch- incredibly personable, super friendly, always willing to help and you can just tell they love their jobs. This library always has a welcoming and happy vibe. You can see it is well cared for and this library is always clean. We tend to park in the back since it is closer to their children's area which is downstairs. The adult lucky day (newest books that you can't put on hold and have a 14 day loan timeframe) are upstairs where you also will find the holds. The staff are so helpful with getting holds for you and even go the extra length to find books that are not even in the Clackamas county bandwidth. We have gotten books as far from as Montana when certain books are harder to find. The West Linn library has so many thoughtful touches that makes this place so special. They do scavenger hunts every other month, the tales to tail program, reading summer program (where each child gets to pick out a book to take home that is theirs, complimentary Blazers ticket, etc once they completed the program), curated book lists by grade/reading level, they offer tons of youth activities- in house (especially on days that primary schools have the day off) and take home activities too. They have a community puzzle, normally a survey or a this/that to engage conversation. Their weekly programs like story hour were a staple for our kids when they were younger. I'm on a mission to find the best library for remote work in the Portland metro and so far West Linn is winning. It was very quiet, calm and clean with plenty of seating. There are large windows facing a green space, so lots of natural light as well. As a bonus: if you have a Clackamas County library card, you can take seeds from their community seed bank. The seeds were high quality, well-organized, and many of them were organic. read more

I am a push over for libraries. After years of frequenting the Tualatin and Wilsonville libraries on a weekly basis, I'm starting to transition to West Linn since we moved here in the fall. This is by far the most elegant space. It could easily be confused for an art gallery or possibly a mountain lodge. My only complaint is the parking situation. The lot isn't nearly large enough to accommodate the number of visitors and it is nearly impossible to turn around once you enter. I've learned to park across the street and avoid the hassle. It is a two-level modern design, so you enter on the main floor which has a great lounge space to curl up with a great book and then go downstairs for the children's and teen sections. Smart design. The teen section is particularly large and they offer lots of programs for young readers and teens. They have really nice meeting rooms which we've reserved for community meetings since the library is conveniently located in the West Linn Central Village. And I need to give a plug for the Cultural Pass program offered by our public libraries in the burbs. In the past year, I've visited the Chinese Classical Garden, Japanese Garden, Pittock Mansion and Portland Art Museum and Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden for FREE. The librarians here are warm, friendly and efficient. My tax dollars have never been so well spent. read more

I went here for the first time about a week ago! I didn't realize that I could check out books here as I live in Gladstone. The library there isn't nearly as nice as this one! I went back again to look around a little bit more. Next time I'll hopefully check out some books. I didn't have much time to peruse again. The great feeling in here from comfortable seating and tasteful furnishings, areas that look more like a large den or family room, cozy nooks and crannies, interesting atria, and floor to ceiling windows to the forested surroundings really call for a 5 star rating. read more

Do yourself a favor and get a library card!! This is what libraries should be. You can check out "cultural passes" with your library card and they get you into tourist spots for free. They also have a large selection of online books. It feels like a youthful library to me. I was able to find the obscure satire comedy books that I like with the help of the gracious staff. It really is a comfortable place. They also have a lot of community and group based events. Being new to this town it really has been a welcoming and happy place. read more

There is no better place to relax with a book or study for some hellish exam (i.e. the MCATS...ugh) than at the West Linn public library. The whole building is very open and lots of natural light comes in from the many floor to ceiling windows. There are plenty of computers, meeting places, study desks, and plush chairs. There's even a lounge area with a cozy fireplace! Also, there are tons of DVDs that you can check out for free. Documentaries, horrors, Kurosawa Akira black and white films...I'm surprised at how large their collection is. And the new DVDs are only 25 cents a day...even cheaper than RedBox. The only problem is, the collection of books here is rather limited. It's not that big of deal though because you could always request a book from any of the other libraries nearby. read more

It's not the biggest, nor is it the fanciest, but it's pretty darn comfy and it offers all a suburban community library should. Decent selection of books, movies, used book store, children's section, computers (both for adults and kids), free wi-fi, community gathering/events room, nice folks (volunteers mostly!) manning the front desk. Some nice outdoor art sculptures sprinkled around. What's not to like? Well, the only thing would be the tiny parking lot, but you can always park across the street in the shopping mall parking lot. I absolutely love West Linn and I love this library. The selection is good (if they don't have what you need, you can request it from another branch in the county and it will arrive lightning fast), the staff is so helpful and it's beautifully maintained. The media department is great, too. People are actually respectful in keeping it quiet even when it's busy and overall it's just awesome. read more

I love the architecture, but I just want to say that I love the kids area. Large tween and teen area with many novels and comics. The childrens area includes over 25,000 books, and the pre-k to grade 2 area includes Duplos, Brio trains and tracks, board books, sofas, and a stuffed leapord. read more
