Due to Covid-19 libraries had to close and rework a system for patrons. This location has things down to a T and even a walk up tent with a librarian to answer questions, help with checking out materials that are already shelved, and help with print jobs as well (to my knowledge this is one of the few if not only place doing so). They do have curbside pickup and drop off through the drive up lot going on too. Even 2 parking spaces for electronic car charging stations Social distancing enforced, masks required and staff working very hard. Books are touched by less people as there is one librarian who only does curbside pickup and one who helped me check out a book that was already on the shelves. Clear communication provided as well. read more

A nice safe library is the best thing I could ever find in Oregon. I like how this library is a lot bigger than I expected. They have plenty of things to check out including a wide variety of machines that I never heard of. After first hearing about it on Instagram and Facebook, I was quickly drawn to it in a matter of seconds. The location is nearby a quiet creek which really sets the mood for me. Unlike some city libraries that I have been to. This one is open all 7 days. At times when they close at 9pm, it makes a good calming setting for reading or meditating or even praying. This place is extremely kid friendly too. For even the most Sqeamish of kids they will even appreciate this place. For those who are worried about safety, kids and adults alike can find a place to be at peace. I highly recommend this place whether you live in Tigard or not read more

I remember when it was at the older building down the street and this new building opened up. Lots more room and feels more like a real library than the older location. Cool comfortable chairs and plenty of tables/desks to do research. The cookbook section is great! The community room always has events going on. The library is one of the few non-food places in the area that's open late on a weeknight, closing at 9PM. read more

I love the Tigard library. I miss its old location - I first met it there - but this building, built for it, is better for the purpose. They have a large collection in their own right and are part of the Washington County library system, so you can get access to a lot of books. Membership is available free to residents or those who work in the tri counties (as is the case for Clackamas County and Multnomah County libraries also). The library is two levels; children's, new items, hold items, videos, and audio are downstairs. Adult fiction/non-fiction are upstairs, as are some meeting/study rooms. There's an elevator to go upstairs, just inside the library proper (left as you go in thru the scanners, which is also where the stairs up are). It's got a very open feeling; the aisles aren't hugely wide, but wide enough to get through, and there's lots of light from windows as well as the electric lights. The lobby is lovely - I seldom linger there, but there are tables and chairs, lots of light, and artwork hanging in the windows - as well as a little cafe. (I have seen parents have trouble getting their little ones past without being begged for a treat, as a warning.) There are self-checkout machines if you prefer those (and since the hold shelves are now in the back of the main room, not behind the counter, you can use them even for hold items). read more

I really enjoy going to this library. It is a spacious two floor building with children's books, magazines, and dvds on the first floor and adult fiction, non-fiction, and computers upstairs. The library carries an expansive selection of books! However, if you are going to be studying or getting some work done here some time during the weekend, it may be difficult to find a desk to work at. I've attended "story-time" with my niece several times and the staff seem really friendly. Each time I go, there seems to be a homeless person or two sitting at tables right inside the entrance at the cafe. But they haven't bothered me at all so far. Overall, a great library! read more

I love that this is a place where anyone can go. There are kids hanging out downstairs. They are encouraged to play games, interact with each other and books. The library always has fun events for adults, children and families to enjoy. We've listened to books read by the author. Watched an illustrator create and get children in the audience to participate. Learned about the solar system with Leapin Louie. This place is a wonderful 2 story building. Go as often as you can for an event or just to find a new book. read more

This library also hosts a number of other functions like wetland tours, music performances, numerous book groups, and author readings. I wanted to write about somewhere I truly love for my 250th and there are few places I adore as much as my local library. Apparently everyone else in the vicinity feels the same way as the parking lot is nearly always full! As Kate T mentioned, the parking spots are ginormous! The space is everything you could ask, they have a huge selection that is even more impressive when you consider you can access all the books in the Washington County system. As I speak, there are no fewer than 20 library books stacked on our coffee table. Our favorite section is the cooking section. They are constantly adding to that collection and we have found many books we have ended up purchasing because they have such impeccable taste. Equally impressive is the large children's section that takes up a significant portion of the first floor. And, for those who are not as inclined to read, they have music, audio books and a great selection of movies including blu-rays. Upstairs is the bulk of the collection as well as the study rooms and computers with internet access. The entire space is logically organized and easy to navigate. The staff gets their own paragraph. They couldn't be any friendly or easier to deal with. I've seen them handle a lot of shenanigans (library shenanigans are the wackiest of all shenanigans) with more patience than I would have thought possible. If I had kids of any age I would probably be here even more often as they offer a multitude of children and teen programs, activities and movies. We have even spent a date night or two here for various free concerts they bring in. Hungry? They have Sesame Donuts in the lobby!!! Now if only they had beer...Kidding... Well kind of...The only true bummer about this place is that they are now closed on Thursdays. Tigard Public Library is really a shining star in our community and for me, the best part about living in Tigard. Now stay away from my cookbooks! read more

My favorite thing about the Tigard Library is actually just outside the Tigard library. Sure, it's a big library full of books, with ready access to all the books in other Washington County libraries, staffed with wonderful helpful attentive librarians and volunteers. Oh, but outside, outside is even better. I'm talking about the parking lot. Seriously. The spaces in the parking lot are so big that even if you end up at the library at the same time as a bunch of Soccer Moms who would never, ever endanger their child by driving them around in anything smaller than an Escalade or Suburban, you'll still have plenty of room to get into or out of your car. And that, my friends, is five-star material. read more

The library that loved me first. For most of my early childhood, my family lived in Tigard. My parents are great lovers of libraries and so I spent many happy hours at the Tigard Library as a child. The 'rents still remember when the library was located in the old house. It's been a long time love affair. The new library building (already several years old - wow, how time flies!) is terrific and the customer service is excellent. My father is a regular at the library and is on a first name basis with the staff. As other Yelpers have noted, despite its size, this library has an intimate, small town feel. The large movie collection proved to be a great comfort for my grandfather when he was battling terminal cancer. (The collection is so large, we had to keep an elaborate alphabetized list to make sure we didn't check out the same movie twice.) When he passed away, in appreciation, we asked mourners to donate money to the Tigard Library in lieu of flowers. That's how important this library is to us. read more

I love a good book. The Tigard Library is part of the Washington Country Cooperative library system. So, there are lots of places you can order books from and a wide selection of DVDs, music CDs, books and magazines. The city created a new library location a few years back and created an amazing building. The new location contains meeting rooms, a full service coffee shop, reading rooms over looking the wetlands and of course lots of books. The Tigard library location also has a great kids section. There are lots of kids books and a few computers for the kids to share. There are kids sized chairs where you can curl up and read your little one a good book. read more

While I have only been a patron of this library for a couple of months, I am very satisfied that I make the trouble of frequenting it. With an incredible selection of materials, a helpful library staff, and top of the line library technology, the Tigard Public Library is a haven for all us bookworms. I especially love how I am able to put as many as 50 items on hold at one time. This library really loves its patrons, hence why I look forward to keeping going back for years to come. read more

This is the nicest library I've ever visited. Plan some additional time so you can check out the artwork that's scattered throughout the building. Great selection of DVDs & magazines to go along with their wonderful book selection. Play/reading area for the kiddos is a great feature, complete with three little desktops loaded with fun learning games. Great useable area for public events. read more

What a beauty!! They have plenty selection of books and movies. The librarians are friendly and really helpful. Since it's a hotter season now, their AC feels so good that I fell asleep while reading a Stephen King book. There are tons of comfortable place to sit and relax. I personally love the area near Young Adult Books section because they placed a couple of comfortable chair with arm rest near the fan, so the AC blows underneath (feels sooo good). There's also a spot there next to a huge glass window where you can see all greens outside. If you are hungry, there's a food stand inside the building. The restrooms, the whole building is clean. I'll definitely hang out here if we end up moving in Tigard. See ya there nerds! read more

First of all, I use this library to check out books mostly. So here's what I love: - They have a great selection of books and movies (new, best selling, etc.). I'm surprised at times of what titles I can find at this library that I do not have to make a request for. - There is also a nice system in place, with the DVDs especially, where they have "bestselling" DVD titles that have a limited time of checkout, but also the same DVD in the general population of DVDs (so you can have them longer, if that makes sense). - They have a drive-thru drop off site outside, and an electronic conveyor belt inside that instantly checks in your books. I really love checking my items in this way so that I can see it confirmed, and not just dropped off at the library. - The online site where I can request items, see what items I have out, etc. - It's a nice building with a lobby area, children's area, community rooms, and a cafe that will soon be operational again (under different management I'm assuming). - Good amount of parking, though it can be tight at times, I've never had a problem NOT finding a space. What I don't use this library for is to study or use the computer. I have studied a lot at Knight library at UO, and I would have much rather preferred studying here! I did try to use printing once, and that was just hell, even with someone from the reference staff helping. I haven't gone to any of the public events, except I did a reading program when I was younger and that was awesome. They always seem to have community events, which is great, considering it's a community building. read more

I've only visited the children's section and every employee we've met has been fantastic. The librarian always takes a minute to talk with my son about what he's interested in and will walk around periodically to check on how each of the children are doing as they browse around. My kids both love storytime and when we can we try to attend the free activities the library hosts, especially around holidays. The children's section is very neat and spacious with a great selection of books. read more

Even schools are opening, but TPL is still closed. Only open for curbside pickup for 5 hours a day and now closed Sundays.

All I did was drop books off in the slot there so I can't say much else about it. It is nice to be able to take books to another location! Nice and easy, though! As compared to the HIlsboro Library which gets confused with the voter slot box! ...and getting out of the car to do it. read more

I really love this library. It's a savior for someone with no air conditioning or quiet workspace. There are tons of power outlets, desks, and comfy chairs. I haven't checked out any books from their enormous collection, but I've definitely taken advantage of their extensive DVD selection. The staff are all very helpful, and the wifi and computers are excellent. read more

To the elderly volunteer or possibly new employee, in the red shawl, high bun, and glasses who was patrolling the area like a security guard who rudely decided to come up to me, single me out, and ask me if my daughter would like some headphones because she could hear the computer all the way in the front of the library: Shame on you. You'd be better off volunteering elsewhere, like a nursing home or maybe upstairs where it's a tad bit "quieter," definitely not in a children's area where the kids like to play and watch things on the computer. I noticed she never said anything to the white patrons whose children were yelling, screaming, laughing loudly, or running around. We used to love coming to this library because it was so convenient to our house but after this experience, not anymore. We'd be better going someplace where we are welcomed and not singled out for unnecessary things. read more

Nice library with a good mix of desks and individual study carols for laptop users although I think they got a few more floor space for individual study carols as some single laptop users try to hog up a whole desk to themselves by spreading their stuff around. That said, the hours are also great here. While I understand librarians have lives, a library that is open late on a Friday night can potentially attract few more students on a Friday night investing their time wisely as opposed to looking for trouble or sitting at home watching TV. read more

The inter-library loan system is also wonderful. I also really like the donut shop as not a lot of public libraries that I've been to has something like this. I have been going to this library for 9 years. I have always sat and read on the first level. The other day I was evicted. They have changed this to a teen only section. They send out a lot of email surveys but didn't send out one to get input on this major change. As I can't use the words I feel most describe this library and staff on Yelp, let's leave it at I just won't be going there. Luckily the Capital Hill Library is close. read more

I love this library, the employees couldn't be nicer, the library is so well layed out, it's got everything! My one complaint is the public. PEOPLE - have you read the GIANT sign that says NO CELL PHONES!!!??? For crying outloud, it's a library! No one appreciates you carrying on a loud conversation in the libray - whether it be in person or on a freakin' cell phone. LEAVE your cell phone in the car. Do we all really need to NEED to connect with someone 24/7? QUIET!! NO CELL PHONES means NOT, NADA, turn it off!! read more

This is the best library I have ever visited. The children's area is spacious with lots of little tables, computers, and books. The DVD collection is really great and if they don't have a movie you are looking for they will try and order it for you. I'm not sure I've ever met a bad Library, but I truly love the Tigard Library. I too was a child of the previous building and spent many days there on spring and summer vacations. I love this Library for its ease of parking and book drop-offs, and for the self check-out. I think this is a much more laid back library than Beaverton, but I haven't attended many events so maybe they are wild ;) read more

Lovely building with great views of Fanno Creek Park. Their selection of materials is top-notch. I've attended various functions here and thought they were all well put together and worthwhile. Having said that, I don't find their reference staff to be particularly friendly or responsive. I have much better luck at the main Beaverton library, even though it is more of a drive for me to get there. read more

This library is the biggest library I've been to, and I can usually find exactly what I'm looking for. The staff is friendly for the most part, but I have encountered a few rude ones. (There's always those select few at every library..) I like how they have children's books in different languages as well, which helps me with my language studies. Even though I have to put up with the screaming bratty children in that same section. Otherwise, the library is quiet as it should be, and there are plenty of tables, seats, and nooks that you can relax and enjoy your books in. I also love the AC so I come here on hot days to cool off. The only downside to me is the homeless people who sit in the lobby during the day. It gives a bad first impression when you walk through the door, and I always feel uncomfortable, feeling their hard stare on me. Very creepy. Other than that, this is an awesome library and I really enjoy going here. read more

While checking my wccls account online I found that 2 copies of a very popular new book were "in" and "non-holdable" at the Tigard location. I raced from my home five minutes away and went to the new books rack and neither copy was there so I went to a reference librarian who sits across from the checkout counter and she told me why don't you got to the children's librarian around the corner and she can help you. I said this is not a children's book, she said it doesn't matter, I'm not a reference librarian and she is and I'm trying to save you a walk upstairs. So I walked over to this woman, who was sitting beside, not behind the desk and was avidly reading emails, and/or texting and looked up at me and was seemingly annoyed at the intrusion when I explained the situation. She said curtly, if there not on the rack, we don't have them. I said, you mean there in the back and haven't been shelved yet, and she said even if there back there, the policy is that they can't be brought to the front. I said why not, I've had people find books in the back for me before. If your website says they are "In" they need to be out on the rack. I made a special trip here based on what you website said was available. She said, well, maybe they changed the policy, who knows, and I said well, I'll find out and walked over to a nice woman behind the counter and explained the situation and she said, oh, let me see if the book is in the back and I'll get it for you. Along comes the children's librarian practically racing over to this kindly, helpful librarian saying loudly to her and me, the policy is we don't take books from the back, I said, excuse me, could you please come here, and she ignored me and went to the back with the other, much more helpful woman who came out a minute later and said they're not here. She said, "Maybe some other patrons have already picked those two copies up and are still here doing other business in the library and haven't checked them out yet." I thought this is possible. Got home, checked my computer and hour or so later, and still said two copies "in". The next morning I checked and there was still one of the two copies "in" and presumably available. My experience at this library have usually been pretty good, but this children's librarian (she was old, with long, white hair pulled up and falling down in spots; she wore faux bohemian scarves, etc) was a bit of an obstructionist on a power trip. read more

Excellent facilities and selection, the library had lots of cool places to sit and fun stuff for our little man to do such as puzzles and games. They do however have to work on their customer service. I definitely get the vibe that some of the people who work there are doing me a favor by doing their jobs. We still come here, and fortunately you don't have to interact with the staff since they have self check out. This is good, but probably contributes to the, why are you asking me for help, feeling I get whenever we stop by. read more
