Based on my review of my own local station of St Michael's you know I love a nice retro station and West Kirby's is no exception. West Kirby is such a charming place and its station is a wonderful gateway to it from the other side of the water...
It has managed to retain its Victorian and 1940s charm (it was built in 1878 and electrified in 1938) whilst still being user friendly - if anything it feels more spacious and pleasant than many of the more modern Merseyrail stations.
What is so great about West Kirby station though is that there are so many delightful cafes and shops so close by to divert and kill time whilst one is waiting for one's train. Be careful - it's very easy to get too diverted and miss it! read more
