West End Vet is probably the best vet in Brisbane. Dr Meagan really puts in the extra effort to ensure your pet is well, and you really get the impression she cares about your pet.
I'll admit, I picked this vet initially because it was right around the corner from my house when I got my cat. When I went in to simply purchase some flea protection and worming tablets, mentioning that my cat was only recently acquired, they organised a complimentary appointment with the vet to go through hints and tips to look after my cat (kind of like a mummy and me class). Dr Meagan went through grooming, how to give tablets and nail clipping as well as answering any other questions I had. Needless to say I was pretty impressed at the level of service, and the fact that even though I asked some pretty dumb questions, the vet never spoke down to me.
But the level of care provided at west end vet really struck me when my cat developed psychogenic alopecia. Countless visits and conversations (a lot of which we were not charged for) and Dr Meagan has been wonderful every step of the way. She explains the treatment she's issuing, why she's suggesting it and what the side effects are in an easy to understand way.
The staff are all incredibly good at handling animals and I have a feeling Meagan knows all of her pet client's names off by heart. She will even advise us when we leave if there is a dog in the waiting room, and if we need to give it a wide berth to avoid upsetting the cat or if it's a calm dog and we don't need to worry about it.
The surgery also offers free dental checkups and weigh ins, which is great if you've got a pet with bad teeth or a weight problem.
We moved to New Farm about a year ago, and there's another vet literally around the corner from my house. But because of how good Dr Meagan is we always make the trek to West End Vet. read more
