If you could describe Exteriors West with one word it would be "Outstanding" with a capital O. Dan, who is owner and installer, has got the installation down to a science. Dan arrived at my home around 8am to install a 16' X 20' aluminum patio cover which he flawlessly and meticulously installed by himself and completed around 6:00pm, Including cleanup. He has been doing this work for 25 years now and it shows! Do you remember the days of great customer service and honesty of business owners in the 50's? Well there are a few still out there and Dan is one of them. Maybe that is why the Better Business Bureau has given Exteriors West an A+. He completed the patio cover then proceeded to look over the cover with a fine tooth comb, wiping down the cover removing any finger prints or dirt he saw then he continued to look it over and painting any scratch or blemish with the factory touch up paint. Just this alone took about 45 minutes to an hour this is how meticulous Dan is and what kind of commitment he has to make everything perfect. When Dan started the job he put down sheets of cardboard and covered my deck with it to protect it. And at the end of the job he swept up his work debris and picked up the cardboard. He then blew off my deck with a leaf blower and picked up any stray garbage. My deck was left cleaner than when he got there. Then fit and finish of my cover is outstanding! From the planning, selection of materials and construction, Dan has been very patient and full of information and suggestions. If you need a patio cover, carport, RV cover, railings, window awnings, whether it be residential, commercial or industrial, Exteriors West is the company you want to go with. He said he does jobs all around Washington and told me he had just returned from a commercial job in Oregon. I wanted a high quality fence that was, hopefully, much more durable than the previous two. Our Home Owners Association's (HOA) covenants dictated a wooden fence. After searching fence contractors, we hired Cascade Fence. They were prompt, courteous and professional. They replaced the fence in just a few days and the fence is absolutely gorgeous. It is high quality cedar and while a bit more expensive than the other fence companies, this fence surpasses all other fences in the neighborhood. They came out to talk thru the project and discussed options but no hard sell (which I appreciate). They assign a project manager (Blake in my case) to coordinate and keep things on schedule. However, the heroes of the project were Michael + Jonathan who built our fence. The took out the prior fence and checked in with our 96 yr old neighbor that we share the fence with to make sure he approved. He did! The walked me thru the finished fence and even added a "puppy protector" mini fence to keep our dog contained. They were super respectful, kind and FAST. It looks great and with the great warranty, we couldn't be happier.

We paid nearly $48,000 for a deck, expecting quality workmanship, professionalism, and clear communication. Unfortunately, that was far from our experience. From the beginning, communication was poor, scheduling was inconsistent, and we had serious concerns about the quality of the work. We observed uneven decking, excessive fraying, poorly cut or damaged boards, improperly installed fasteners, and a worksite that was repeatedly left in unacceptable condition. These are issues that should have been caught and corrected by the company, not repeatedly pointed out by the homeowners. We specifically requested an in-house crew, yet subcontractors were sent instead. This was particularly frustrating because we had made our preference clear from the beginning. We were so dissatisfied with their workmanship and conduct that we eventually asked for them to be removed from the project. What bothered us most was that the company wasn't proactively offering to correct the problems we identified. I had to repeatedly push and demand that issues be addressed. We shouldn't have had to fight for basic workmanship standards on a project costing nearly $48,000. The attached photos shows how the property was left on a day the crew wasn't even scheduled to work. This wasn't an isolated incident. Our property was left in similar conditions for more than half of the project. We found the worksite messy and unsafe, and it was disappointing to see so little consideration for our home. We identified more than 30 areas of excessive fraying throughout the deck. When I raised concerns, I was told a good pressure washing would take care of it. Considering this is finished composite decking, I found that response concerning. Only some of the workmanship issues shown in the attached photos were ever addressed. Even after a new crew came in to finish the project, there were still problems. The skirting boards were damaged, the skirting door rubbed against its frame, and the door handle was already damaged. The photos show the condition of these areas immediately after the project was completed, not after months of use. It's incredibly disappointing that these issues remained even after the company had an opportunity to make things right. We also experienced a lack of transparency and what we felt was dishonesty regarding the permitting and inspection process. We repeatedly had to ask questions, seek clarification, and request updates before eventually involving company leadership. I spent an unbelievable amount of time documenting concerns, emailing employees, following up, and monitoring the project. We thought we hired professionals. Instead, I felt like I had to oversee the work myself just to make sure our concerns were taken seriously. My husband and I value our time, and we certainly didn't expect to spend this much of it managing a company we hired to do a job. Although some efforts were eventually made to correct certain problems, we remain disappointed with the finished product. There are scratches on the decking, unresolved workmanship concerns, and questions about how certain areas will hold up over time. What made this experience especially frustrating wasn't just the workmanship. It was the lack of accountability, inconsistent communication, and the fact that we had to continually advocate for issues to be corrected rather than the company taking the initiative. Once trust was lost, it became difficult to feel confident in the work being done. I do appreciate the individuals who eventually made an effort to address our concerns. However, those efforts don't change the overall experience or the condition of the finished product. We documented the entire project through photographs, videos, and written communication. I strongly encourage anyone considering Cascade Fence & Deck to carefully review their contract, confirm whether an in-house crew or subcontractors will be performing the work, stay involved throughout the project, and document everything. Better yet, find a company you don't have to micromanage that isn't a HACK. For nearly $48,000, we expected a much better experience and a finished product we could feel good about. Instead, what should have been an exciting home improvement project turned into weeks of unnecessary stress, frustration, and disappointment. Jose provided drawings with his software and engineering plans so I would know what the finished project would look like. Unfortunately we could not proceed do to city restrictions beyond his control. We pivoted to a free standing cover with the max dimensions without a permit required. In my city that is 120sq ft based on my lot size. I felt very comfortable with Jose's workmanship and ability to follow through with the work laid out. Price was better than all the other competitors quotes by thousands. There were some times were Jose got very busy and was lacking in timely responses, but eventually we were able to get all the details worked out and once work started they finished in about 4 working days over a week.
