Lancaster, CA I am…read moreinterested in a certain class that when I search for schools that offers them. This is the nearest one to me. I walked in to inquire. They have a decent waiting area and a receptionist who doesn't have any idea regarding the class I am interested in. He called an admission employee to give me more details. The admission employee - John explained to me the process, requirements, and fees. Classes doesn't start until next February so he mentioned that I need to call him mid January to confirm the class schedule. *located in a strip plaza. They are occupying a lot of units as classrooms. *plenty of parking and it is free. *unit 122 is where the registrar is.

This review is based on my current experience as a Nursing student…read more The first negative feedback is about financial aid,Verenice is who I met with. She is not engaging but, rather more demeaning. Her lack of patience and professionalism is obvious. Some professional development classes would benefit her a lot! Now... the second negative feedback, quality of education is not there! In the ADN program, we are pretty much self teaching. Our instructors are not helpful and take pride in belittling students. They enjoy throwing their title around, as if that should motivate us! Dr. D (Peds) is hands down, the most egotistical individual there. He (she) I will address him as the biological person he is. He refuses to truly help students who struggle, then why teach?!This instructor engages in speaking negatively of staff in front of students, creating a toxic learning environment. The DON has been told this but, she doesn't care as long as her numbers are there. This program is new, and it shows! Please research other nursing programs with a reputable school, and instructors who know how to actually instruct! I'm stuck here because of the loan, I stupidly took out!!!

If you want to transfer to a four-year university, there is a program that helps you navigate through all the courses you need. The transfer counselors care about the students and are more than happy to help them. Their goal is to get you to a university. The student service programs that AVC have is expertly helpful. They have a Learning Center, which is one of the most beneficial areas for students to achieve. There are FREE tutoring services for almost all the courses. From art to engineering, there is most likely a tutor. If not, you can request for one to be found. The only part about AVC that I don't like are the restroom facilities. They are always dirty, and sometimes a majority of toilets don't work or are broken in some way. They are also usually out of soap too, so I have to keep a bottle of hand sanitizer with me. All in all, Antelope Valley College is an outstanding school and is a great place to start if you want to further your education.

Let me start by saying the campus is very nice and clean! The admissions and financial aid staff,…read moreon the other hand, is pretty much useless. They are decently friendly, but it seems like no one at the desk is ever authorized to actually do anything aside from taking your info down and saying they'll reach out to you (no one ever reaches out, by the way, shocker). I've visited over 8-10 times in the last 5 months, and the "higher-ups" are always out of the office or in meetings--every single time. I applied in August 2025 and it took 2 weeks and 3 visits just for them to even find my application because it supposedly got "filed into spam." Most CCs take 48 hours MAX. Because of that "spam incident," my financial aid was severely delayed. Even though I'm a California native, they flagged me as a non-resident and said they needed my official high school transcripts to prove it. Contacting LAUSD for transcripts is a nightmare and takes 3-4 months, but the admissions supervisor gave me a verbal green light to take my Fall classes anyway. She promised they would backdate the waiver and clear the non-resident tuition once the transcripts arrived. I finally brought my transcripts in today, and now they're saying it's 50/50 if the dean will even honor that since the Fall semester is already over. To make it worse, the dean has been out for the last 2 days and they had no idea when she'd even be back. They refused to even schedule an in person appointment with her for me. I even offered to set it for this Friday or even weeks out and told them they could just call to cancel if she wasn't in, and they still said no. If someone is going to be out indefinitely, they need to bring in someone else to fill in and handle their responsibilities! I understand things and emergencies happen, but there is still business to be handled. Now they're saying they can guarantee Spring will be cleared, but I can't enroll in any classes until the $500 Fall balance is paid. What sense does that make?? Had I known this would happen, I never would've enrolled for Fall, but I trusted the supervisor's word. I'm beyond disappointed. The staff is friendly, but they need a new chain of command if the bosses are always gone. It shouldn't be this hard to better my future. I'm now pursuing enrollment at another college because I can't deal with this faulty system anymore. Advice to future students: save yourself the headache and explore other schools if you can. If you do happen to end up here DO NOT take verbal promises here. Get everything time-stamped and in writing or you'll end up stuck with a bill you weren't expecting.

Also during my last semester the school did not provide critical care equipment to practice with such as A lines ect. Also the turn over with teachers is big and we were told by various professors that the pay for them is not good, which was very unprofessional to tell students. Additionally when clinical started you are doing most of them at high desert hospitals and apu students at these hospitals have a bad reputation for not being efficient with there nursing skills due to the lack of teaching at the school. Also there is another school in this area called Victor valley college that has very strong students so most of the hospitals cater towards these students and apu students get pushed to the side. Emails can also take time to be answered due to the director at this campus having to do lots of jobs to overcompensate for the areas staff is lacking. Lastly I want to add not all the professors were terrible and a few there have a true passion for teaching and are very good at what they do.

I reached out to everyone I could about them giving me the discount they were still advertising online and they never did. They didn't stop advertising the discount until months after, I wonder who else they took money from. Make sure you don't rely on their website information before giving them your money. Have it all on the contract.
