The only reason I am giving this a 1 Star is because of the teachers. This school could be so much better but I feel that the teachers are under paid and under staffed they use money to paint the school and re do the pavement but the operatories run out of materials and things need to be upgraded and maintenanced! I was told I would get my money back from taking my exam but never received it. Everything is very rushed and some teachers don't seem to want to be there. If I could give it no stars I would. Upon starting for the RDA program it was a good experience till class actually started and I got farther into the program that it became clear to me that all this school cares about is their stats for the school and program. They only care about your appearance and that tattoos or piercings are visible or the fact that you have artificial nails. Because when a teacher was told about another student cheating in class, it was completely overlooked and not even discussed, but when I had my nails done, they threatened to kick me from the program. Their loyalties are only to the money and the numbers, not even caring about dignity or the actual learning experience. Don't waste your time on student aid, because it doesn't even cover half the cost of the school and they do little to even help with that. read more

SJVC is a great school to start your career goals at. Ive learned alot through this school. I came in with little to no knowledge of medical terminology and medical careers. They gave me a push when I walked in those doors to view the campus. They knew somehow that I was going to do amazing in this field. I will admit that I had my doubts on some days. However, Herman Elliott pushed me through every one of those. I wouldn't of graduated let alone ride out the program if it wasn't for him. He had a way of making the class come together despite everyone's differences. It was a judge free zone. It was a safe zone. He should be the face of the school. The school overall had great programs to learn off of. It was a little difficult to navigate in the beginning, but you eventually get the hang of things. However as soon as you hit externship, it's like they leave you out in the dark. I hope it gets better with time. read more

I started in July initially I was excited to start something new. Shortly after enrolling I had issues with the instructor mistreating me. They need to offer more hands on experience everyday. 40,000 for lectures I could do myself on YouTube and they don't have actual textbooks, like a college should. The amount of inappropriate conversations an instructor has with students is not professional. The staff will buy you with a fake smile but once you enter they change and switch up all the staff is rude. The lady at the front desk has such a bad attitude anytime you try to talk to her. Oh, can't forget the Dean Mrs. Elekana calling me a snitch because I came to her telling her her instructor was talking to students about taking them to a nightclub. I would highly suggest looking for a college where you Will get treated with respect, and you won't get bullied and find a place that's worth paying your money for. School is a scam. They butter you up so much when you first start but its all marketing tactics. The actual classes were lacking of any real instruction or knowledge. I went for DA and they didn't even teach me how to suction, as their machines were constantly "broken." In fact, most of what you will learn comes from a 300 hour long (unpaid ofc) externship, at an office who has no intention of hiring you. I also constantly got belittled by the dean of the school who treated me like I was a child. There was petty squabbles between the night class and the morning class, as if it were high school all over again. On top of that, you had your duty to clean the classroom yourself. It will definitely not turn out how you imagine or are made to believe. As an 18 year old i was slick talked into a 30k dollar loan. In order to sucker you in, the comission driven admissions advisors will pump you up with the loftiest projections for your future, saying things such as "Once you graduate you will easliy be able to land a job that pays 30k a year and will have no problem paying the loan" and that they provide "Job placement"....HA! nothing can be further from the truth. Save yourself the hassle and look for a non profit school or take the extra time in community college, the curriculum at this school is nowhere near college level and you will be treated like a child, they will prance you around and have students attend events in order to use them as a pawns in obtaining marketing materials/internet clicks to sucker other people into this trap. Absolutely cherished my time in school here. I was in the administrative health care management courses. I believe the outcome of your success here and in the real world is essentially determined by your work ethic and motivation to learn, study and ask questions. The instructors I had were absolutely amazing including Mrs.Porter and Mrs.Green. They were amazing and know from schooling and experience in the real world. They tell you how work is ideally supposed to go and inform you on the hiccups that can come your way. Changing the e-courses in the middle of a mod (semester) was a bad idea and not training the students on how to work it. Instructors overall are good teachers just all have different methods of teaching. People have tendencies to find ways to cheat but in any college that's what happens. You have no worries about getting into classes the schedule is set up for you. No waitlists!!!!! Overall a good school.! Would recommend to anyone who wants a good future and who is actually dedicated to learning. read more

This school does NOT have a religious pressure, pull, nor do they incorporate any religious aspects in the teachings. Previous reviewer must have reviewed the WRONG college. SJVC is a very fast paced, private Junior College. This college was a last resort for me because Victor Valley Community College was ridiculous to even try to attend. SVJC has a strong staff and so far I love the teachers (even though in the 4 courses I've taken I've only had one instructor). Mr. Patch is a great teacher who is mostly with the Business Administration program but he makes learning fun and interesting. All work, though some tough, we get through it with flying colors. I'm not the brightest, but I still obtained academic excellence my first 2 courses. The course material is valuable to me and pertains to my future plans. I'm glad that I made the choice to attend SJVC- Hesperia. A pet-peeve for me, Uniform Dress Code, they are kind of strict because it is a "Business Environment" and the parking is not organized and the schools extracurricular events are usually last minute and they don't always have all the details. Love this school always an upbeat attitude around the campus from staff and students. Staff is always easy to talk to and helps you get thru all your class in any obstacle you face. I graduated in 2011 for billing and coding and came back and passed my MA 2019 woop woop. I was concerned that I was too old to return to school, but all of the teachers, instructors, staff and students at SJVC were so nice to me. 30,000 to be a medical assistant, where, if you're not bi-lingual, you'll never pay this loan back by getting employed. some of the "teachers" were still in school themselves without even so much as a Bachelor's degree. Having to ask to use the restroom as an adult is ridiculous. Most of the schoolwork is busywork, and students cheat constantly. Glad it's over. read more

While I enjoyed this particular campus the school itself tries to stick it to Veterans that utilize their GI Bill and don't complete a program. They would submit, for payment, to the VA for each MOD (semester) and then even at one point gave me a check for over payment by the VA but when I stopped my program at the beginning of a new MOD they now try to say that I owe money and will be sent to collections. They say they've attempted to contact me numerous times and that I never called them back, I did attempt to call back each time ( their idea of numerous times was 2) each time I attempted to call back and was only able to leave a message and they wouldn't call me back. Their VA financial program needs an overhaul and their accounting staff needs training in customer service. UPD9 days ago someone from SJVC responded on here and said that someone would follow up with me and here I am still waiting to here from someone in management. Great follow up!! UPDATE: while I appreciate the response from DIANA S. At SJVC according to the VA, as of this morning 4/16/18, SJVC has yet to respond to the VA. The school is overall a good school. Just be prepared to spend 14 months in a degree program. The students are friendly and helpful. I've had a great time there in the 7 months of my 14 month program. Some of the IT core modules need to be longer ( Hydraulics,Power Transmission). I think that once you check out the school versus some of the other local schools, You would probably sign up. read more
