Parents, do not send your child to this school. Children, do not ask to go to this school. I warn you of all this place regardless of your faith, because the buildings of Paraclete Highschool stray far God's light. And I only say that because that's my only explanation for why this school feels like a trick made by the Devil. Classes are bare-bones compared to their public schooling counterparts. Religious classes only serve to eat up credits that could spent elsewhere. I-Pads are about as much of a distraction as you would expect. All knowledge gained from AP classes proved to be useless the second I entered in a college environment. Zoom classes, while universally poor, were a particular failure in Paraclete's history I find the need to mention. Paraclete is a very hypocritical thing. It claims to be a preparatory Highschool, yet it's classes are elementary. It claims to teach religion, yet there are no bibles to be found in classrooms. It claims to provide academic excellence to it's students, and yet I find now myself disillusioned with the concept of academia all together. It's ideals of the illusive 'rigor' and aesthetics of expert prim and proper teachers are all muddied by reality. That reality being that there is a shameful level of bigotry and ignorance within the community. Bigotry that is shared between both student and teacher. What would you call a religious institution that cannot practice what it preaches? What place does a group that teaches love have in causing hate? I can only label this building, then, as the work of some type of Devil or monster. One that feeds of off the sheer irony of Paraclete Highschool's existence. A building that strays far from God's light, trapping all whom enter in it's fiery hot cages. During my time here I experienced some of my lowest points. The rigid conformity was the very anti-thesis of what a growing adolescent required. I was stunted, defeated, and emotionally exhausted beyond my limits. The answer to my aforementioned question is clear to me now. There is only one word I could use to describe a place like this: Hell. Parents will look at this review and deem me a slacker because they believe to know more than me. To those people, I can only hope you will come to your senses and believe your child's stories within the first few months. We have had our daughter attend Paraclete for all four years of High School. She is now a senior and will graduate this May. I can tell you that she has truly enjoyed her education experience at Paraclete, and we as parents recognize the advantage that she now has moving into her college years. Paraclete is definitely a College Prep school and our daughter is prepared for college as a result of attending Paraclete. She has applied for 7 different colleges and universities and has been accepted to each of them. There are colleges that have reached out to her that she did not even apply to. We have really enjoyed the small school atmosphere that Paraclete offers. We feel like family and not just a number. If you have a student that is also interested in Athletics, look no further! The Athletic programs are excellent and provide and opportunity to grow in each of the sports. Our daughter received both Academic and Athletic Scholarship offers. Lastly, in as much as having to attend school on Zoom for most of this year, (hopefully she gets to finish in a live school setting this year) Paraclete handled the Covid-19 Crisis in a professional and responsible manner. We have friends whose students attend other schools, and those schools remote teaching model is to have the students "Check-in" online during a 15 minute class in the morning, receive their work packets and turn them in online. No teacher interaction, no supervision, nothing. At Paraclete, our student is online for the entire school day, interacting with teachers and other students, taking "Live" test and quizzes, and even attending tutoring as needed. This school has an awful staff, Tracy Hill (girls soccer coach) caused me to cut myself and triggered severe anxiety to the point of depression my senior year her and Margaret Neil laughed at my fathers accent saying " I can't even understand him" in bursts of laughter. Margaret Neil was charged with assault by a softball players parents. This faculty is racist, I would suggest no minority or young children looking for guidance go here. If you would like to further discuss this with me please do. This was all brought up to the office at which point there is formal documentation where my dermatophagia was addressed because it was triggered by Tracy Hill's bullying. Also the dean and men's athletic director involved themselves at the end of the year regarding this issue where they apologized to what happened to me. But it was too late. Furthermore there is no point for discussion because what has been done has been done, you guys can't undo what you did to me, the only reason you want to open discussion now is so that I'll take down this honest and factual review because the only way It'll be taken down is if I take it down because you guys can't even sue for defamation because there is evidence of the document that you guys asked me to write my year, you and I have a copy (: .So, I won't take this down because if I can keep even one kid from going through what I went through by having them or their parent read this review than I'm leaving it up. read more

If I could put less than one star I would. I have only spent one year at this school and it was still probably one of the worst in my whole high school career. While at this school my mental health was on such a big decline it actually affected my physical health and caused me to have to go to the hospital more than once. The workload is beyond what it should be and the weight of all this work on my final grades caused a great incline on the view of myself. The school also tries to use its dedication to the catholic faith as a selling point as well but if I'm to be honest nothing has strayed me farther from the church than that school. All the hateful things they said and spread were just disgusting. As a matter of a fact, once I had transferred school and went somewhere with actually qualified teachers I excelled very far with my education and learning even graduating with a 3.6 GPA and getting into the college that I wanted to. I learned more at this other non-college prep school I when to than I did at this so-called "college prep school." All in all, it is an awful school that isn't for everyone but it SHOULD be for everyone, not just rich white people. read more

My daughter has attended Paraclete High School for almost two years. She is a Sophmore now and looking forward to graduation. Paraclete has done an outstanding job handling the pandemic and incorporating remote learning. When Governor Newson issued the stay at home order, I became very concerned about the impact this will have on my daughter and all the students living in California. Little did I know that the school principal and staff will quickly gather to put a distance learning program in place. My daughter was able to resume her classes in less than a week after we were told to stay at home! She continued receiving the same high quality education she was receiving before the pandemic. I applaud the effort the school made to make the transition to remote learning so smooth. Paraclete does not only provide a strong academic foundation, Paraclete educators go the extra mile to assist their students and ensure their well-being. I have peace of mind knowing that my daughter is receiving the best possible education. I am forever grateful to Paraclete High School for providing my daughter and my family with some normalcy during this difficult time. read more

My wife and I have 4 children, 2 of which are freshman at Paraclete. While considering their high school future we knew that the local public schools were very large and limited. We visited Paraclete before the start of the pandemic and were very impressed with the campus, the staff and class size. After that visit we decided that Paraclete was the place for our children and applied. The application was fast and easy and our children were accepted into Paraclete. Then the pandemic hit. With the pandemic can many issues that everyone was concerned about, one being distance learning and whether or not it would be worth paying for. We reached out to Paraclete and we were assured that they would receive live instruction for the full duration of every class period, needless to say after heavy consideration we decided to stay and have our children attend Paraclete. This was definitively the correct choice as we hear that the local public schools are. Or doing the same. We couldn't be happier with the distance learning program and the instruction our children have received. I highly recommend that you everyone consider Paraclete for their children. read more

You might expect me to be another parent, but I'm actually a freshman making this review. This school has been great so far to me, and I'm kinda shocked how many friends you can make in such a short time if you just put yourself out there. Teachers are great, and they are always open for anything if you just ask! You might see a bunch of other bad, negative reviews out here and there, but those were from years ago.... This year is different anyways, we actually have some new teachers for this year and they're great. So far the teachers are really putting their effort to get us to learn all we need to know, and they are very helpful if you miss anything in their lectures. The school events are AMAZING, and participating will get you plenty of friends n stuff! There is plenty of opportunities for sports and There are a lot of clubs to join! I don't wanna waste ur time reading this so check the school out for yourself, it's a lot more than I can type right now.. anyways I needa do my homework or else I'm cooked see ya. Paraclete is the best choice one can make for the overall high school education and experience in the Antelope Valley. As alumni of Paraclete ourselves, my husband and I chose to send our 3 children there as well. We are appreciative of the education received and have extremely fond memories of our years there. We greatly enjoyed the family atmosphere, the sense of community and spirit, and the fun we had participating in sports and clubs. It was never a question that our kids would attend Paraclete too. When they did, we were pleased to see that the college-prep education they received offered even more choices and excellent Honors and AP classes. There was also an abundance of new and improved clubs and sports programs available, many in which they participated and greatly enjoyed! All three are now college graduates, owing much of their success in college to the things learned and experienced at Paraclete. read more

After much research, once again, we decided on Paraclete High School and do not regret it. They truly have excellent leadership, teaching, and facilities are all top rated. Unfortunately, this year the students are doing remote schooling because we are in a pandemic. But I have been so impressed. Teachers begin each remote teaching day fully refreshed and prepared for any challenges. Not only are there amazing and dedicated teachers, who willingly adjust their schedule to be available when needed, but also has an excellent support system. We've been impressed by not only the academics, but also by their encouragement to social/emotional education as well. The staff is amazing. They know who each student is and students are not just a number. The students are thriving there and feel like something bigger. We have seen such an academic growth in our granddaughter and this is her first year. read more

I am so glad my husband and I made the choice to send our daughter here. She was sad to not attend school with her friends for high school and for a moment we considered not sending her to Paraclete. However, we knew it was the right thing. The best thing. Then COVID hit and we were reassured of the choice we made. She is receiving an amazing education still, held to high standards, and is still expected to do well academically- something I've witnessed diminish in other schools. Paraclete comes together as a family and has shown great compassion during the difficult times and understanding of circumstances. Even through virtual our daughter had made a bunch of friends and connestions that help make the current situations less difficult. Not to mention keeping God at the forefront of it all. I know many families that have students that attended Paraclete. They recommended this Paraclete as the best college prep school in the AV. This is my daughter's first year (9th grade) attending Paraclete. I have to admit as an incoming freshman parent I had many concerns of her first year being in such a no traditional setting. With this being said, in the middle of a pandemic I am overly satisfied. I love how Paraclete incorporated the distance-learning into the curriculum. My daughter is a straight "A" student and is able to navigate through her daily day zoom meetings, her assignments along with test. The teachers are great with communicating with the students. My daughter has been independently functional like a college student. I have never had to help her, email a teacher, remind her to meet her educational demands, or tell her to study. ---Great Job! read more

This is a wonderful school! I am very impressed with how my nephew Aaron is growing to a wonderful teenager attending here. My eldest nephew graduated from this high school and solidified a great close group of friends. Paraclete, I believe, creates a inclusive foundation that not only emphasizes a welcoming environment while students attend, but it creates characteristics that students can carry on into college. My nephew Aaron advocates how much he likes his school especially when we tease that he should attend high school with his family that also lives in San Diego. He is prideful attending this school especially because his older brother graduated and now attends Channel Islands University. My son is currently a Junior at Paraclete High School. The last three years have been such a positive experience for my son. He has had multiple opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities, but has a deeply embedded responsibility to his academics. I appreciate these opportunities, but most importantly his relationships with his teachers- where that sense of academic responsibility is encouraged and supported. I was most pleased by the school's very quick and efficient transition to distance learning. I often hear his lessons and the teachers are knowledgeable, engaging and really try hard to acknowledge and work with their students. Paraclete has been an outstanding school. I am so glad my son is attending the school. The school was quick to have all the students continue their academics by online schooling due to the Pandemic. This is my daughters first year at Paraclete. In the current distance learning environment, I could not be more pleased with the education she is receiving. I can see where it would be hard to provide students with a meaningful, rigorous, and quality academic program, but that is exactly what my daughter is receiving. All of her teachers are incredibly supportive and have obviously put in the work required to be an effective educator. To me, of equal importance, is that Paraclete is also giving students opportunities to build positive relationships with their peers in a virtual environment. I couldn't support this school enough! My daughter is in 9th grade, and was struggling with the idea of essentially losing her first year of high school to this COVID-19 pandemic. The school has been so inclusive, warming and understanding to the students needs, and now she is beyond happy. They take every precaution necessary to keep our children safe if they ever have to see them in person, and are constantly reaching out to parents to ensure everything is ok. Impressed with Paraclete. My nephew loves the school. He always talks about his friends and teachers. One other nephew graduated from there and is now in college. Both nephews made good friendships. Friends who on their own motivate and support each other. The school provides a safe, healthy environment. My daughter is a freshman and she loves going to this school. She's really motivated to do well in her studies and she's involved in a lot of extra curricular activities. When this pandemic crisis started, other than our concern with the health and wellbeing of our family, we didn't know how this would affect our daughter's schooling.
