Every time I visit I pay. 3 - 4 days later I always get a bill. One day I walked in and asked…read morethem if I had a credit / surplus amount on my account...the new admin assistant quietly told me there was approximately $200 on my account and that Colonial would never tell me this, that if I did not ask I would never know. Call it 'over-charging' or 'theft', doesn't matter. Every time I went after that I demanded they use that money and threw the bills in the trash. More negative things since then....I will be looking for a new health care network / provider.

I have been coming to see Dr Leonard for several years and I like him as a doctor. He is concerned…read moreabout my overall well being. The problem is the practice and the management. If you have any balance above $25 they will not let you come in until you have cleared that up. I have always taken care of my bills, but sometimes it's harder than other times to pay it down. Rising health care costs do not help that either. I have at times been upset that they have not taken the time to discuss my test results at all or have not gotten the medicine I have asked for when I went in and had to call back and wait a day or two to get what I have already asked for. They have also had personal discussions on the phone and with other staff while I am waiting to check out. There are always ways to improve service and I generally think they try.

The physicians and care providers are great. The office for Palmetto is poorly managed. Trying to…read morecall into the office and get a real person to answer is difficult. The phone will ring close to 50 times before it transfers to voicemail. When you leave a voicemail for them to return your call it can be days before you get a response. Once you get through to someone in the office, their help is generally fine. BUT it certainly seems they use the phone and voicemail to avoid work. This has been going on before and since McLeod bought the practice.

She extended a genuine apology and assured me I am important to their team. She didn't make excuses for anything; she actually agreed with me and asked me what changes I think should be made. I really appreciate her call and might just stick around. Original post: Dr. Stoddard was the only doctor accepting new patients in my area. First, let me say that he is very kind and thorough and seems like an excellent doctor. He took his time with me, was a great listener, and made me feel comfortable. His assistant (did not get her name) was the sweetest too. NPA Rob was also fantastic. The OFFICE staff, however, are a different story. I can't speak for all of them because a couple of them are kind and attentive, but many others are very disorganized and have zero sense of urgency about the health of their patients. In the few times I've gone in for appointments I've had issues with: my referrals not being sent out, my insurance information being recorded incorrectly, being referred to doctors that weren't accepting patients, my questions for the doctor not being delivered, not being informed of my test results, not being able to reach anyone at all by phone, not having my voice mails returned, and last but not least - my surgery clearance form being lost which almost resulted in missing my surgery, and nobody apologized for that by the way. I have always been acknowledged by the person at the front desk, and whenever I've gone in with a problem (because I had to physically go in to the office to get any answers) someone there has always helped me; Tiffany helped me several times and I think she should be recognized for her great customer service, BUT why are so many things going wrong in the first place?? It seems very unprofessional. A patient should be able to feel rest assured they will be taken care of. Luckily, I'm not a timid elderly person who can't drive or speak up to people giving them the run around.

I was referred to The Urology Clinic at the beginning of March with no call, two antibiotics later…read more(for UTIs), they called and got me in. I got with great NP (B) and we did culture. Told her I felt like I still had UTI and she said we would wait for culture (this was a Wed). The following Monday they called and said negative. Wed I woke up and had major pain and because I have chronic UTIs, I knew it is the UTI. I called at 8:30am and someone called me back at 5:30pm and got me in for the next day at 9:30. I met with a different NP (E) that was difficult to connect with and pretty much made me feel like I was wasting their time. She felt maybe I had painful bladder syndrome and wanted to shoot pain meds into my bladder once a week for six weeks. I said I would have to research that as I hadn't heard about that and asked what about my infection, she said I didn't have one. A few hours later, I went to the emergency room for pain. Needless to say, I was positive for a UTI and they also gave me fluids via IV and did blood work which also confirms my body fighting an infection. Had I not gone to the emergency room, this infection would have killed me. Since then, I dropped off emergency room paperwork (where the emergency doc said I needed to see a specialist) and the best they can do is give me an appt with the doctor on Nov 14th (I'm not kidding) and offer to let me come for a urinalysis when I'm done with the current round of antibiotics. Why would I go back to somewhere that clearly had faulty methods and does not care about its patients? No thank you. I do not recommend and caution you to be your own patient advocate. You will get much more accurate results at the emergency room than you will there.
