I have no idea why someone would use yelp to decide about attending or working for any college, but…read moresince it's here I'll add my opinion. I'm a grad and 3 in my immediate family are grads or current student. One English major, one molecular bio, one neuroscience + Korean double major, one still deciding but maybe comp sci/ astrophysics This is a magical school. Professors are excellent teachers and tops in their fields. They care about teaching and their students. More science funding than any other small school. More NSF funded professors than any other school. More foreign languages taught than any other school. Best film department in the country. Big telescopes. Yes it's weird and proud of it. Non- conformist students who want to create new ways of solving issues. Diversity university and proud of it. Read President Roth's books and articles. No core coursework outside the major Everyone here did well in high school and took advanced classes. Wes trusts its students to explore the curriculum. The academic freedom makes it easier to double major as well. The city of Middletown has enough to satisfy, but this is not a " college town" and wes knows that. So they provide so much to do that students don't want to leave on the weekend or evenings: theater, movies 4 nights a week, music series, dance series, lectures plus spring fling. Students pile on even more student-run music, dance, theater, clubs, parties. Best housing: more single rooms, more student housing options with kitchens, meal plan that you can use to buy groceries. Bathroom grade: A. Yep, they have plenty of gender neutral and ADA options.

Since non-students are posting reviews about a school they never attended I'd like to partake in…read morethe fun too. First off prospective students should take these non-student reviews with a grain of salt. They're kinda silly and my review is no exception. Secondly it's unfortunate there are people in this world who hold a grudge against a potential employer simply because a job interview didn't turn out the way they intended. Can you say "sour grapes"? I doubt their employment seeking experience reflects the actual student experience at Wesleyan University in any way, shape or form. Now I don't pretend to know everything about this school. I'll leave that to the REAL students. But I will tell you that the harsh criticism of the school and the town of Middletown is undeserved. It's unfair. How an outsider can walk around a campus and a street for a few days and conclude that others should stay away is beyond me. It's unfathomable. Everyone I know who graduated from Wesleyan loved it. The school holds an exemplary reputation throughout the state of Connecticut. I sometimes hire for my company and I would personally hire a Wesleyan grad any day over some dumb Stanford or UPenn grad. It's a no brainer, especially after my recent experience in dealing with the ilk of people from those two schools. Newsflash for Chrissy; both schools were beat by Columbia in this year's US News ranking. Ha ha.

Tessa, the woman who helped me with the admission process was nothing to but helpful and professional! After talking with her on the phone and through emails, I finally met Tessa. She is exactly what I imagined - very friendly and her smile is very welcoming! From admissions, financial aid, to registration and getting my class schedule, the entire process was quite easy! Never a moment where something went wrong. I am yet to meet my advisor, his name is Antwon - and I have heard nothing but fabulous things about him! Something that really stands out about Middlesex Community College (MxCC) is the way they treat their students who have disabilities/different abilities! Nothing but empathy, acceptance, inclusion, and kindness! I have absolutely nothing to worry about - because I know I'll be able to fit in with no issues. For someone who has dreamed of obtaining a job in the Criminal Justice field for years (me), this is the best place to start! It is a 2 year journey of studying to earn my associates degree, then I can graduate. Class of 2025! To me, 2 years is not a long time - I'll be finished in no time. Middlesex Community College, thank you for making the beginning of my college journey smooth! I feel so happy, grateful, and very blessed!

The best parking is on street parking on High Street (not metered). If there is no on street parking available then you have to take a right and park in Lot C across the street from the university (also not metered). There are crosswalks, sidewalks, and walkways. When I bring my kids down for volunteering they enjoy running around in the well-maintained green available in front of the university buildings. It's a gorgeous outside space that includes beautiful flower garden sitting areas, ideal for lunches, studying, reading, or simply enjoying the weather while my children run around in the grass. At the time of our cognitive study appointments a young woman/man from the early childhood development lab will come out to meet us on the front steps of the building and guide us up to the testing area. The building is old and it is easy to tell that it has been about 50 years since the interior was designed. Luckily there is no musty smell like some older buildings get. The early childhood cognitive lab was cute. The college students working in the lab have office space set up on the right and a children's play area set up to the left. When my kids went in they were allowed time to play with the toys there and get comfortable with the college students conducting the study. Next the students took my child into the next room, left the door open so I could see, and filmed her doing a little computer game and a type of "simon says" game. After about 5 minutes of that my kids were allowed to play with the toys again before leaving. I had paperwork to fill out each time we went, it was very simple paperwork, no doctor records, ssn numbers, or insurance, all they asked was basic questions about my child. The students gave my kids stickers and cute erasers for being good, and gave me $10 for gas which I did not expect but did appreciate. I will definitely bring my kids back for another study if they call us.

Great meals, great deals. The only thing that I can do is get the chance to get a better idea of…read morewhat kind of know the feel of the game is so much more tame than the fact that I have to be a good time to reflect on the Cape cod and the other side of the world to see how the tables are going to turn.

Wasn't for us. Which is why you take visits, right!? However, admissions rep who gave the info session was as good or better than others we've seen in the state university system. Note: bookstore inventory for gear is boarderline embarrassing for a D1 school. Clearly want to push you on line. We were not buyers today - in general - but wanted to see. If you're a fan or want gear for your student or athlete - look on line only.

The worst school ever. Parents if you are reading this- I urge you not to let your children go to…read morethis school. 1. The bursars office and administration are some of the rudest people I have ever met in my life (and I work in an ER) if that says anything. They are the least helpful people. All they want is your money and that's it. 2.The teachers are not kind whatsoever. They don't help the students at all. They don't respond to their emails. My math teacher (she was the only russian math teacher there) literally bullied me the entire semester I was there. During finals, in the middle of the class she word for word said out loud "i don't know why you're here when you're going to fail it anyways." to me DURING MY FINAL. 3. When trying to withdrawal from a class, I had to email my professor asking her to sign the form. She responded to my email "Who are you?" when I had already went to about 6-7 of her classes. When I responded, she never responded back to me which resulted in me getting charged for the class. 4. The president of academic affairs literally got arrested for kidnapping and assaulting the students on campus. Look it up. 5. The school in its entirety, is an absolute dump. It's extremely depressing. (Oh and for the students that are reading this that are thinking about coming here, I'm just going to let you know now that there are literally no parties, NB police shuts them down before they even start) 6. I really hate to say this but CCSU has a very bad reputation of sexual assaults occurring on campus. A lot of my friends went here as well and every single one has gotten sexually assaulted here (some even more than once.) The school has done nothing about it. (You can look this up as well) So parents, I would reconsider letting your daughter go here. 7. OH AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST! When you are done attending CCSU, they tell you you need to pay your tuition in 6 months otherwise it goes into collections. I'm sorry, but I did not have $10,000 laying around nor was I going to be able to come up with 10g's in 6 months. (What a Joke) They also did not even try to work with me or help me they gave me that one option and that was it. AND if you don't pay in full, they will not release your transcript to you. (if you were transferring schools/going back to school, etc) All in all, this school is absolutely terrible. I would not go back here or recommend this school to anyone. It's not just me who didn't like it either, everyone Ive talked to hated it and had an awful experience. I basically summed up what had happened to me while i was at CCSU and sent it to the president of the school and all she responded with was "would you like to give me a call" literally that was it (and the email I sent was probably 3 paragraphs long) Terrible staff, terrible campus, terrible FOOD, terrible extra curricular programs. Everything about this school is awful. HOWEVER, I did like my advisor a lot, she was very caring and kind and really tried to help me. Other than that, they should shut this school down with how many complaints and sexual assault cases that occurred here.
