Are you friggin' kidding me ?…read more edit 6/2/2008: Sorry, it took a while for me to get back to this. I tuned in on the 25th because Barack Obama was speaking at the 2008 Commencement in place of Edward Kennedy and the Wesleyan web-site was simulcasting it live. First of all, it took FOREVER for all of the people to be seated and I was subjected to their drum corps during the entire parade - the drummers looked like something from another country and not in a good way. Senator Obama's address was scheduled to begin at 11:00am. The actual graduation addresses did not even start until 11:45 and the first speaker was the class valedictorian. What in God's name are they teaching up there? The girl could not talk to save her life - and she was the best that her class could produce to speak on their behalf?? We are all in serious trouble here folks if this is what $40K gets for an education these days. When Senator Obama FINALLY took the podium all hell apparently broke loose with the web people; suddenly the signal scrambled, delayed and then altogether stopped - please note there were absolutely NO issues during the drum rampage intro and boring parade of guests and grads. We have high speed cable connectivity with XP software so I'm pretty sure it was at their end. But, c'mon folks - during one of the most interesting political addresses that this state has seen in our time the university should have been better prepared. Then again, maybe the Wesleyan web team are Hillary supporters; lol.

I can speak to the quality of the CSB class experience…read more I just finished the Broadcast Media class and I can attest to the fact that it is possibly the single best investment you can make in yourself if you have any interest in Media production. From video to audio, talent or production, this is not only a great starting point but the CSB staff are committed to getting students placed. This is because they operate more like a guild and consider the quality of the students they educate to be the benchmark by which they are judged. However, it is also true that it takes personal effort after the class to get into the business. And, my efforts will likely start with an internship or entry level gig. Nonetheless, I can truly share that this feels like the start to a new chapter in my career path. Thanks CSB.

Raj, who runs the Trumbull and North Haven center is very easy to work with as well. I like that they offer support classes but also classes for enrichment. My son, who's a bit mite advanced in both subjects, is no longer feeling unchallenged in school because he takes these classes in between! MATH: With today's changing times where elementary and middle schools are leaning toward the common core German method of teaching (like the more well known and reputable universities in our country!) I think a program like this is going to be critical to helping our children understand the fundamentals of math. Schools today may not be able to teach both with an aggressive/limited school schedule unlike foreign countries who attend school year round and have the proper time. I have already found my son living to solve math problems and testing himself on skills. Unprompted! READING: great to learn handwriting, reading technique. My son has always loved books but now I find he's also loves writing things for me to read. It's awesome. We also discovered in school he is a speed reader and enjoys long novels. These classes ares teaching him how to use words properly and also the various meaning to the same words. Including sound variations. Summary: well worth the investment.

I agree with Marisol, but I'll put in my two cents on top…read more I love the crowd, even if it is a little on the nerdy side. The lounge and the dining hall are relaxing spots to hang out in, and Friday happy hours come with free! alcohol and greasy, repetitive but free! food. In fact, the law school is a fantastic resource for the hungry and cheap. (Caveat: cover for 3 years will set you back something to the tune of oh...$132,000.) If you hang around at 1:00 PM or after 7:00 PM Monday through Thursday, it takes very little diligence to scrounge free Thai, Indian, pizza, and if you're lucky, something else (but you have to be quite lucky). The courtyard is perfect for hanging out in warmer months, but it may as well be closed for business during the winter. If you need to unwind indoors, the couches in the lounge and the four armchairs on the main floor of the library make for prime nappy time, and no one judges you for drooling. One complaint I have about Yale Law School is that the lunchtime crowd in the dining hall is terribly and visibly young. The library is also a total undergraduate hotspot. I think YLS would be much improved if it poached the bouncer from Anchor and made all the underaged children take their biology textbooks and study at Toad's.
