Specialties
We specialize in creating unique and creative Etched Glass Art as well as unique Personalized Gifts.
We studied with Norm Dobbins, the pioneer in the glass etching craft. His guidance has helped us master our craft. He is greatly missed.
My wife is the designer in our business. Her many years of crafting and design work has been a tremendous benifit to our business. She has the vision to help clients create on of a kind gifts.
We also specialize in glass etching of architectural glass. This includes privacy windows, interior and exterior glass doors, mirrors and shower enclosures.
History
Established in 2005.
Back in 2004 my wifes mother passed away. To help her with her grief, I took her to a Log Home Show here in Raleigh. At the show, there was a man carving egg shells with a high speed drill. Carol was fascinated, so I purchased the kit for her.
After about a week, I started to whine. I wanted to know what I could do as an artistic outlet. I did a lot of research but couldn't find anything. One evening we went to dinner at a Chinese restaurant, and at that restaurant, there were these large panels of glass with images etched and carved into them. I was fascinated.
In my quest for information, I found Norm Dobbins. He was doing a seminar in Charolette NC in about a month. Well, Carol and I decided to take this seminar and meet Norm.
To make a long story short, I wound up studying with Norm in Sante Fe, NM. As it turned out, Norm was the pioneer of glass etching as a craft.
After etching glass for friends for a few years, they suggested we start selling our work.
Meet the Business Owner: Tim C.
I can't sit here and write about myself without including my wife Carol. She is the driving force in our business. She has the design talent that makes it all come together. Me, I do most of the etching and carving. Carol specializes in etching photographs.
Carol has always been the "crafts" person, so she has the insight and heart for this business. When I came home from my classes with Norm Dobbins, I would teach Carol what I had learned. She picked it up with ease.
We are natural teachers. We love to help others learn new skills. So, we plan to start a school teaching this wonderful art and craft. We want to follow in the footsteps of Norm Dobbins. He was a gentle sole who willingly shared his talents and skills with everyone that would listen. We would like to carry on his legacy in his honor.
