She looked through historic records and showed me what had been going on in my neck so I understood the treatment plan. At times I was in tears because I didn't know if the cyst was going to show malignancy; fortunately it did not. She was calming and kind, answering all my questions and then some. I had such a great experience with her. Why? *Dr. Nguyen is kind, patient, knowledgeable, and empathetic. *She and her team are very organized, and my appointments have all been on time. * Even if she has difficult news to share, she is still genuine and compassionate. *She informed me of risks and let me know honestly when some pain might be involved. Jeff, her medical assistant, is truly a gem. Every time I interact with him he's extremely pleasant and compassionate, and helpful as anyone could be. No worries about getting information I need, he's got a copy ready for me. His manner is also calm and kind, and I can imagine his patients adore him; he's that kind of person. If you need an ENT, I definitely recommend Dr. Nguyen and Jeff, too; they made a difficult situation manageable with as little worry and pain as possible.

Dr. Suzuki is an amazing ob/gyn and I feel so grateful to have had her as my doctor during my second pregnancy with its numerous turns and twists (got sick a few times requiring antibiotics, had pre gestational diabetes, and high blood pressure). I couldn't have made it through my pregnancy without her level headed and comforting manner. Since I was relatively new to the area, I didn't have a good primary doctor or specialist needed for two issues that came up during the pregnancy and she managed to refer me to two great providers one of whose practice was closed. Delivery wasn't the easiest either and the compassion that Dr. Suzuki displayed was amazing and wish she had been my ob/gyn for my older daughter's birth as well. I had originally decided to start seeing Dr. Suzuki based on recommendation on the Urbanmamas website. It was only after I switched to her did I learn that one of our good family friends who is a nurse had her as her doctor as well since Dr. Suzuki was highly recommended with fellow nurses. Even though we have since moved from the area I quite miss having Dr. Suzuki as my ob/gyn. If we did consider having more little people I would consider moving back to Portland...

From my first experiences with his office (on the phone with Naomi at the front desk), it was clear that the culture at his practice is to go above and beyond for their patients. I was in a bit of an anxiety-fueled state by the time of my first appointment, and had prepared a long list of questions. Over many minutes, Dr Hodgson patiently and thoughtfully answered each question, providing his reasoning each step of the way. He even went so far as to walk me through the many layers of my MRI images (which his medical assistant Daria had miraculously obtained electronically from a provider across town just minutes before). In discussing treatment options, he readily cited research and his personal experiences treating other patients with my condition, all the while relating this information back to the questions and concerns I'd already expressed. It was exactly what I needed to hear, and how I needed to hear it. On follow-up visits, I've been further impressed by his retention of small details from our earlier discussions (especially considering the large number of patients he treats). I've read that being a good doctor requires not just an understanding of science, but also the interpersonal skills to apply it. In my experience, Dr Hodgson is an exceptional practitioner of both. Because I've never heard of such a thing, and it seems vulgar. We decided that we weren't going to pay these membership fees, and moved to a new clinic, but I just realized that they have been charging me membership fees in the amount of $13.75 (thru "Square") periodically, which I had assumed to be copays, and I had no notification of these charges. That feels pretty sneaky, and is ultimately what initiated this review, as I figured I should speak up...and I don't write many negative reviews. They came up with a whole justification for these new fees,, commenting on their top notch medical care and the advantages of having a smaller pp clinic, but their office is an attic floor above a restaurant converted from an old house with a steep staircase, and there's no elevator, so it's a pain in the ass or impossible to get up there for many disabled.
