Shop small, they say. Shop local, they say. It's what we strive to do. We don't like to order with the "1-800" floral companies because you never know how it will turn out. We went to Wes' flowers to order flowers for one of the most important days, our father's funeral. Admittedly it was a bit last minute but we were assured that wasn't a problem. We came into the shop and spent time looking through their book of arrangements (pictures below). The kind lady who helped us, Celina, was wonderful. She sat down with us, assured us that what we ordered was in stock (minus a piece of fern) and that it would all be done no problem and on time. We left feeling good about our order, despite the enormous price tag of over $350 because as I said, it was for a very important day. The most important day. The next day we arrived to pick up our arrangements and it was a very different experience. We were in a hurry to pick up the flowers on the way to get the food and make it to the church. No time to inspect everything but it definitely didn't seem right. The woman behind the counter brought out the "standing spray" laying flat and shoved it in my fiancé's hands, without warning. We honestly thought we would have been given help out to the car with something that large. It immediately started to pour (yes, pour) water down his pant suit leg and she scolded him to "hold it flat". When he asked her if it needed that much water in it she again scolded him with a "yes". This woman was not the kind Celina we had encountered the day before. She then brought out the vase. I immediately noticed that it didn't look like what we ordered. I asked her if this was the level of what we ordered since it does come in three different price points. Once again she snapped back with "of course it is, it's because of the roses". Running out of time and not understanding what she could have meant we signed the receipt she insisted we sign and we left for the church. Once we arrived at the church we were able to really look at what we got versus what we ordered. Fortunately for us we took pictures of the catalog to show family members when we placed the order. We were disappointed and embarrassed, not only for what we had on display but for what we were sending our father off with. How can a company feel good about this? A family comes to you, grieving, gives you their business (and a lot of money) and you feel good about this? This is how you represent your company? Wes' flowers, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Not just for the abomination of floral displays that you sent us off with but for the "customer service" we received when we picked them up. Maybe shopping small and shopping local isn't so great after all. read more
