What we witnessed at the recital was abysmal! Those kids deserved better than this, after working so hard all season, as did all the parents who spent money to ensure their children would benefit from and have a sense of pride with what they had 'accomplished' by being enrolled at your studio.
Although that may have been a great venue to have a nice dinner, play bingo or enjoy some other fun activities, at several round tables, it was not the best location to have a dance recital. Not only was there not enough space inside the "Auditorium" to put on such a grand event, there were not near enough parking spaces to accommodate the participants of the show and all the guests of said participants. This is no fault of the Levine Senior Center, but this needed to be, and definitely should have been, planned out a little more thoroughly! Had it been thought through at all, people would not have been left to park along the sides of the street, blocking the entrance/exit, or all the way across the street at other businesses which created about a mile walk to and from their vehicles.
This was only the beginning of the issues that were experienced and being discussed as nobody could see the stage or their child performing due to the cramped layout of the chairs and flat floor format, not auditorium style seating as we were led to believe, so only those seated in the very front rows were able to see anything without standing, but even still, the bright lighting BEHIND the dancers made it impossible to get a decent recording, or at a minimum, to even be able to see their costumes, and we can't get those moments back!!!! We are definitely not pleased about that nor the fact we were having to 'attempt' to glance over the multiple families who were quite disrespectfully, standing up in front of all of us taking pictures and selfies once their little ones were brought back to them inside the "Auditorium".
I will stop here as you get the picture....
But, I have to say this; everybody could see that only the 'Company Kids' were given the teacher's full attention or even close to being ready, whilst many others seemed ill prepared and not fully trained for such a perfomance.... especially that group wearing the red outfits!! Those poor girls absolutely DID NOT know their dances and should have! They could have been more prepared by receiving the proper instruction and training beforehand, but they didn't even know the simplest of things, one of which is what position to stand in and the other being which way to exit the stage!
Again, they deserved better treatment than this, AND the opportunity to redo those dances, to make up for the "instructor's" mistake and blatant incompetence, because it certainly does not fall on the shoulders' of those kids!!
-- It was so unfair, extremely unkind and outright SELFISH for the owner of this dance studio to actually refuse to allow them to do so!!!! They weren't worth it in her eyes as there was no more money to be profited from it... and that is heartbreaking! read more
