I pulled up to the drive-thru at 2:01pm. I was stopping for a small snack in between my two jobs, and when I pulled up a women said "Please hold on we're doing a shift change, someone will be right with you." I don't mind waiting a couple minutes, but after 3 minutes and a truck behind me leaving the line, I said "Hello?" only to be responded to by a man asking for a couple MORE minutes. After 6 more minutes and another customer leaving behind me, I said "Hello?" again, and finally my order was taken. I waited 10 MINUTES for a SMALL FRY and a Peach-Mango Lemonade. When I got to the window, I was greeted by a rude teenager, who didn't apologize for my wait. He handed my drink and bag to me without any conversation or eye contact. I said "Thank you." while grabbing my bag, and the window was slammed shut in my face. Not to mention, my Peach-Mango Lemonade was warm, and by the time I got to my other job at 2:15p the ice had all melted, and was disgustingly watered down. They were short handed due to a worker going home sick, and were slammed inside and the drive through. The manager handled it so well. He apologized and explained there running a bit behind and offered a beverage while I waited for my carry out order. While I was waiting I witnessed him deal with angry and frustrated customers like a saint. Had a very good way of dealing with people and calmly explaining the situation. On top of that the rest of the crew really worked well and communicating perfectly. My food was all made perfect. Like this has to be one of the best Wendy's around when it comes to food quality. And I like it even more now after watching the way that manger handled what appeared to be a very busy lunch rush while short staffed. He kept his cool always spoke politely. Number one indication that the food wasn't made fresh. When we got back to my boyfriends work to eat we were less than thrilled about our dinner. My chicken sandwich lacked green leaf lettuce and was tough and chewy. Boyfriends burger was overdone and tasted like it sat out for awhile. Like did the cooks just unwrap the sandwiches, take tomatoes off and rewrap them? The fries were meh. We love Wendy's fries but not when they are cold and soggy. As I'm sitting there at the speaker, the owner comes out and turns the breakfast menu around MIND YOU IT ISNT EVEN 10:30 YET and tells me I can still order breakfast "if we have stuff left" So they finally take my order at 10:15 only to be told that the owner put all the breakfast stuff away and I cannot order breakfast. When I went back in, because one more this was still missing, the manager started screaming at me to leave and never come back. Fast food restaurants receive, I would presume, quite the thrashing on Yelp because nobody expects a fast food restaurant's food quality to be 5 stars (and as it were, none really are). And even though fast food restaurants are the easiest places to receive comped replacements for botched orders, I suppose some people will still complain. So what about this place? Food-wise it is a typical Wendy's, you won't find a hidden stash of sirloin here, and my orders have been made correctly with mistakes otherwise not noteworthy. But the people are interesting, or at least the head honcho. The lead manager is a clearly devout Christian. He wears a cross outside his uniform each day, which is neither here nor there. He blesses customers on the rest of their day ("God bless you", usually in return to the same), and what I've found interesting too is he often has Cristian rock playing through the restaurant speakers). I do not know how his staff feel or how he carries this into his work ethos. He also walks amongst the generally elderly customers frequently, and talks with them about their day, or popular events and news. I can tell many of them are regulars. He sometimes buses tables, which I have never seen in a fast food restaurant before; he has offered to refill my drink on occasion, also unknown to me. I have come here enough that he has offered a free mini frosty, or has asked his staff to make sure that my order is made hot and fresh in particular. I am extraordinarily low maintenance, and yet I receive these kind gestures merely by being here: I was working through for a while the cause and effect here, between being a regular and being treated so. What made me review this rather unassuming place today was that when I arrived, said manager was out, though he arrived shortly afterward after I had ordered. I overheard him talking with some staff members, asking if they remembered what one elderly woman ordered when she came in. She is in a rehabilitation center now, seemingly for a while. He wanted to bring her lunch (and he did that). I can't say that you'll get a particularly noteworthy meal here (unless you LOVE Wendy's). But I can say that a good person runs this ship, and that from what I see that goodness rubs off on everyone here, whether staff or Christian regulars or atheist regulars like myself. Ordered a 4 for $4 and the top bun to my cheeseburger deluxe was rock hard, the fries were soggy as ever, and undercooked.
