I was in the area yesterday for work, got home and decided to go back today to try it out. We tried the Cubano sandwich with onion rings, the Caesar Salad with fried chicken, and the fried pickles. First off, the pickles are out of this world good! They are smothered in batter I've never had before. They aren't your typical thinly sliced pickled with no batter. They are a good solid slice and the batter is thicker than normal. So many of them that we brought half home. The salad with candied bacon was so dang good! The kick the candied bacon had was...wow! The cubano sandwich was thick! And let's not forget the atmosphere. It's hard to find a place with so much character that doesn't cost a car payment to eat at. To top it off, our server, Jocelyn C was great! She was so attentive to us, made sure we had refills, brought our food quickly and offered boxes to go. She was pleasant and it felt like she wanted to be at work on a Saturday! Thank you Jocelyn! We'll certainly be back to try more food!

Hillsboro is such a quaint town in was nice to look out. They had a very robust menu. I opted for the smoked sausage which came with two sides. The macaroni and cheese was lukewarm and bland. The cornbread was cold and dry. I left most of those. The smoked sausage was excellent. I loved the char on it. The coleslaw was really good too. The fish dinner was great. Huge piece of fried fish. The breading was really good. Service was ok. Nothing special. Decent value. I'd go back to try something else.

The food at The Porch has always been good, and based on the food alone, I would have given the…read morerestaurant 5 stars. Unfortunately, the customer service during my most recent visit was disappointing, and I would rate that aspect of the experience around 1.5 stars. From the moment we entered, we were not greeted with a smile and did not feel particularly welcomed. We requested to sit outside, and although there were more than 10 open tables available, we were seated directly next to the only other occupied table. Our waitress also appeared somewhat disengaged throughout the visit. There was limited interaction, and when we asked twice for additional time to decide what we wanted to order, we felt that our request was not received warmly. This was a Thursday at the beginning of the month, and the restaurant was not particularly busy, so the lack of attentiveness was especially noticeable. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have experienced inconsistent customer service at The Porch. The food continues to be good, but the service has begun to significantly affect the overall dining experience. I hope management will take this feedback seriously and focus on improving the customer-service experience through additional support and training for the staff. Customers should feel welcomed and appreciated from the moment they walk through the door.

After seeing an extra 9 dollars in charges we called concerned. One time left a message and received no call back. I finally called back and was told well they should have told you and basically too bad , for the quality of the food added to the sandwich it definitely wasn't worth the extra 9 dollars. Now will not be meeting my family there at Hillsboro again , my advice make sure you ask your server when they offer you what comes on it, because they will overcharge you and the manager will be rude and make it your daily. Won't ever go back.

In a year of prices skyrocketing, this place did not move much on pricing. I always throw the server extra money because I see a lot of tables (coffee drinkers) leaving a coin tip.
