It smelled great and the food we seen delivered to other tables also looked great. We got a sample platter with ribs and brisket. The ribs were over cooked and chewy and the brisket was a lot of fat. The sides were just ok. Maybe it was just an off day for them because I see a lot of great reviews. We stopped in later in the evening so that may be the reason the meats were off. Again, not thrilled with our meal here, but may give them another chance earlier in the day.

My son and I both wanted to try the brisket so he got the platter and I chose the sandwich. I was told they make most of the sides that aren't fried options such as tater tots, which I was happy about. They had the classic barbecue sauce on the table as well as a spicy option. Both were equally delicious. My sandwich came on Texas toast, which is a fave. The portions were a great value as they do not skimp! The fried potatoes are made in house and they were delicious. Even though they don't make the onion rings in house they were also quite good. My one disappointment was, they don't make the majority of their desserts. And the menu states that their daughter-in-law Kayle makes different desserts daily and they didn't have that. They were actually out of several desserts, which was disappointing. Since the only ones they had were not ones made in house I chose to not get one. Since we live 3 1/2 hours away I guess I'll have to give it another shot for the dessert option next time around. Overall, the place was terrific and the folks were friendly. They have a salad bar in the middle of the floor, which is a nice touch. They have a very laid-back atmosphere and it is definitely family friendly. And you definitely get good size portions for the money.

It may be your only spot, but that's not a knock on it. It was a pleasant August evening, so we grabbed a booth outside beneath the canopy that used to shelter drivers gassing up. The menu is straightforward. I was shocked at how low the prices are, particularly for the quality. The pulled port was good, but the sides is where it's at! Don't miss the cowboy beans which were fantastic! The potato salad was unique in that it let the eggs flavor come through. Plus, they have Ski! Service took maybe five minutes from our order to our table. Also, friendly and helpful! Very impressed!

Another couple walked up while I was eating and I was telling them how good the food was. They said they knew and eat there at least once a week. I can see why! They are pet friendly and allow dogs oustide under the patio area. This was a delightful spot where the staff makes you feel like you're at home and the food is absolutely mouth watering.

I had the pork shoulder plate and the bright spot was the pork, seasoned to perfection and cooked just right so the fat was rendered. Sadly somewhat tainted by having to roll it up and eat it with my hands because the knife was not capable of cutting through it. The sides were not to my taste, but that could be a preference thing. The cucumber salad was watery and tasted like pickles and the coleslaw too heavily dressed for my liking. We split a slice of mixed berry cheesecake and that was fairly nice with a thin crust. Bathrooms weren't nice and generally had a weird vibe. I wont be back.
