I woke up from surgery without the pain I had lived with for nearly 2 years. I was out running errands just a few hours later and made the 5-hour drive home the following day as a passenger. I never needed a prescription pain medication or muscle relaxer. I took two Tylenol the night after surgery and again the following night, and honestly, I probably didn't even need those. For the first time in almost 2 1/2 years, I can sit, stand, and walk without pain. I'm also now 3 months post-op from my C5-C6 artificial disc replacement, and the difference has been incredible. I can move my neck freely, I no longer have pain in my arms, and I'm able to work out again--something I haven't been able to do comfortably in years. After this surgery, I didn't need pain medication or muscle relaxers either. I only took the Aleve that was prescribed, and I did great. Even my scar is barely visible. I truly would not trust anyone else with my spine. Dr. Derman is an incredible surgeon, and I cannot thank him enough for what he has done for me. He and his entire staff have been amazing throughout both surgeries and my recovery. If I could give Dr. Derman 1,000 stars, I would. Five simply isn't enough!

His bedside manner is awesome and his entire team were amazing and had exceptional care. I will continue to have him as my spine care specialist. As I'm answering questions, doctor continues to talk over me, and constantly interrupting me. He tells me his going to have his nurse come in and do part one of the testing once nurse completes part one, he will come in and do the second part of the test. Nurse comes in sweet as can be, and does the test. She communicated each and every step as she is doing the testing. Nurse completed the test lets me know she going to let doctor know she's completed her portion of the test. Dr. Tania comes in and does part 2 of testing. After doctor completes part 2, he advices me that he's going to have his nurse come back in and do one more test. Both doctor and nurse come back in to room and doctor is explaining to nurse where the nerve they are looking for should be. At that moment I realize that was doctor was not listing to me prior to testing being done, I proceed to let doctor know again there is no nerve there is was surgically removed (surprised look on his face). Appointment is coming to an end and he tells me, I don't believe that you can't move your foot side to side, it's because of this (tells me what he believes issue is). Had Dr. Tania listened & reviewed my medical history, he would have seen that indeed I cannot move my foot from to side because there is hardware there that prevents me from doing so, bones have been fussed together. Doctor ask that I go to front desk to check out, as we both are walking out of the room doctor goes in to see his next patient. I go to front desk to check out, from desk staff advices that doctor has not completed his note and findings, I'm asked to have a seat as he completes his notes. 20 minutes later I go back up to front desk, and I'm told doctor is still working on report once again I'm asked to have a seat. I let them know that I can't wait any longer and I'll check the portal for report. I have been trying to get into portal with no success (I already have an account in portal) keeps telling me unable to locate account. I've tried calling, per usual no one answering the phone. For me this was a terrible experience that left me feeling as I wasted my time, I need to get a 2nd opinion, and a waste of money. I only gave a 1 star review because I could not post my review with giving a star rating. What wanted to give was 0 star review.

The pathway to the office is crutch friendly as I discovered. Dr Raynor's staff is friendly, fast and effective. I was on the examination table in no time. The X ray was done quickly and Dr Raynor's evaluation was thorough. On the next visit to give me the MRI results, all of the options, treatment suggestions and plans were expertly provided. I really appreciated a copy of the MRI report to read and reread. This organization is the best professionals to see with an injury. After explaining my symptoms he had a pretty good idea what was wrong with me, and after an MRI his suspicions were correct that I had a stress fracture. It was such a relief to find out what was wrong with me, as I previously thought I had a muscle strain. Dr. Raynor's staff is also really nice and always concerned about my well-being. I really like the system of pre-visit online check-in at Texas Orthopedic Associates, so you don't have to spend each appointment filling out paperwork and you can actually get to your appointment on time. The only negative is sometimes it was hard to get an appointment that works with my schedule. Dr. Raynor is well in demand, and I completely understand why.

I called their billing department and the person I spoke to confirmed this. They said they could either request a check or that the credit could be applied to a future visit. I chose the latter since I had a follow-up scheduled. I went to my follow-up appointment today and the front desk told me I owed $113.16. I asked if that included a credit and the girl at the front desk told me there wasn't a credit. I explained the situation multiple times, showing her the EOB summary and the credit card charge from my phone. After some back and forth, she and another girl said that I had to pay the full $113 or reschedule and they would not honor the credit, saying that their "higher-ups" had told them this. I called the billing department later and spoke to the same person as before, who told me that they should have honored this credit. I should not have had to pay more than what I owed. I will for my insurance to process the claim for today's visit and will call the billing department afterwards to discuss how to move forward, being that I don't have any more visits, but this could have been avoided if they had just honored the credit.
