I am writing to formally express my deep frustration and disappointment regarding the discriminatory and unprofessional treatment I experienced at your branch while attempting to open a business account with my wife. The behavior of your representative, Taimur, was not only inappropriate but deeply offensive, and it underscores a serious issue regarding how Black business owners are treated at Wells Fargo. From the moment I sat down, I was met with condescension and skepticism. Rather than facilitating the account opening process professionally, Taimur repeatedly questioned my legitimacy as a business owner, displaying clear bias and a complete lack of respect. When I informed him of my background in cryptocurrency, he scoffed and repeatedly stated, "I'm a seeing-to-believing kind of guy," implying that my success was either fabricated or implausible. His passive-aggressive attitude, coupled with his ignorance of fundamental business structures such as a Delaware LLC--made it clear that he was neither knowledgeable nor equipped to assist me and my wife in a professional manner. What was even more egregious was his blatant lack of engagement. Rather than actively listening, he dismissed my responses with a disingenuous "sure," even when I was asking his a questions. His inappropriate conduct escalated when he had the audacity to suggest that he would pay me to teach him to trade cryptocurrency as if I had come there to give him a personal consultation rather than to conduct legitimate banking business. This was not only unprofessional but incredibly demeaning.
To add further insult, he arbitrarily insisted that my business account had to undergo a "verification process" before proceeding despite the fact that numerous other ATM businesses have opened accounts at Wells Fargo without such a requirement. They always get it after the account is already made. Went to another branch that same day and they approved me.This additional hurdle was clearly imposed on me as a form of profiling, reinforcing the systemic discrimination that Black business owners continue to face. This experience was nothing short of unacceptable. It is appalling that in 2025, a financial institution of Wells Fargo's stature still allows this kind of treatment to occur. My mother, a longstanding Wells Fargo customer, is so disturbed by this blatant injustice that she is closing both her business and personal accounts. I will be doing the same and will strongly advise other Black business owners to avoid this branch, as it has demonstrated a clear lack of respect for us. Wells Fargo must be held accountable for the discriminatory and unprofessional behavior exhibited by its employees. I expect an immediate investigation into this matter and a formal response detailing how you intend to rectify this situation. Anything less would be a further testament to the systemic bias that continues to plague institutions like yours. read more
