Great little overnight stop while traveling through Nevada. Owner checked us in and was very friendly. Restaurant has changed hands and is now American food versus the advertised "Cantonese". Food was pretty good and lots of selections to choose from. Rooms appear to be converted apartments to motel rooms with kitchens and living rooms. Draw closer is no utensils or pots and pans to cook and eat with. Rooms were clean and bedding was new. Would recommend an overnight stay and looks can be deceiving from outside. Winner winner chicken dinner! Wow. Round 2 of this small town Chinese restaurant. And once again, I'm so impressed! Marina and George (the owners) are so kind and would do anything to make their customers happy. We arrived around 8 pm last night (30 minutes before closing time). We received a friendly greeting from Marina when we walked in. There was one other table in the restaurant, so the atmosphere was calm and quiet. We ordered: Egg roll (2): This is a must have! Trust me when I say, you have never tried an egg roll like this before (see photo). So flavorful, crisp and Piping hot! I should have gotten some to go. Chicken lo mein: Hot, fresh and homemade! The noodles were cooked to perfection and well seasoned. I usually add a touch of soy sauce. Sweet and sour chicken with fried rice: The chicken is hand breaded and fried to a crisp brown. The sauce is fantastic and includes pineapples, carrots and onions. I would order this over and over! The portions are massive! Yes, it is a bit more expensive than most Chinese restaurants.....but you are paying for quality and quantity! George cooks everything from scratch and has an eye for excellence. It is still amazing to me that this restaurant is in the middle of wells, Nevada. What an amazing find. I will continue to keep coming back for more. I never leave here hungry or less than amazed. Took a chance on this place. Booked via booking.com site, received a response from the manager/owner let us know our 1st floor room would be ready upon late arrival. HUGE studio room. 2 queen beds, a full size stove, microwave and fridge. This room is seriously larger than my 1st apartment was. I was super excited to see an on site Chinese restaurant, sadly it is closed for the month while George is in China. :( Also we saw it said free WiFi but could not log in, due to not being given a password. We didn't want to bother the manager so late (10pm) and no alarm clock in the room, are the only 2 reasons I didn't give it 5 stars. Otherwise it may be dated building and no frill place, but for the money it is a definite good choice when traveling from WA to AZ and would stay here again. read more

Talk about a deal! Didn't want a chain so looked to Yelp for advice - ended up here and despite the outward appearance- a bit derelict looking - was greeted warmly and found a very clean well made up room, complete with kitchenette! Indeed, the name is now a misnomer, because the Chinese restaurant is now Mexican...dinner was typical Mexican fare, service was great! Everything is very clean! Great stopping point along I-80, either for food or sleep! Stopped by here the other evening and George showed me a few of his rooms and gave me a pick. The rooms were very clean with their own kitchen, large fridge and beds were better than some. Also they have an RV park with plenty of maneuvering room and full hookups. I have travelled to China before and this must be the best Chinese food in America! Very much worth the stop either if you're hungry or need a safe, clean, and quiet place to stay! Big shoutout to George, the owner of Wells Chinatown Motel! We were on the way back home to California from a road trip. The car had an issue on the freeway and wasn't able to go anymore. Out of desperation, we decided to stay in Wells for a night until the car problem was resolved. Called the first hotel on Yelp and there wasn't any vacancy that day. The lady suggested us to try Well Chinatown and gave a rave review about it. I'm so thankful that I connected with George, who was so friendly and saved two rooms for us. Out of our surprise, the rooms were very spacious and clean. I've never seen a two bed-room apartment style motel room! It even came with a spacious kitchen and living room! It'd be better if the kitchen came with some cooking utensils though. Anyways, thanks to Wells Chinatown Motel, our kids actually had a good time staying there while the grown ups struggled with car rental and towing. It's a stressful experience for us but we were very thankful that we found Wells Chinatown Motel. It's definitely a silver lining in the midst of our ordeal. And don't forget to try the restaurant next to it. They served good food, especially the steak. read more

If you are looking for a high end hotel or one with brand new gold lame furnishings and decor - this is not your place. However, if you are looking for an inexpensive and comfortable place to sleep with friendly and helpful customer service, then it's worth staying here instead of whatever town you had planned to stay in. We were driving from CA to CO and wanted to time our stop after the first day so we could visit the salt flats when it was light out. Originally we were going to stay in the town next to the salt flats, but Yelp reviews for everything there were lousy so we scrolled backward to check out places in other towns that were close. The reviews for this place were so good that we stopped earlier than we would have otherwise on the first day and I'm so glad we did. For $80 we basically got a 2 bedroom apartment - separate living room and decent size kitchen with two bedrooms with actual doors. The beds and pillows were shockingly comfortable. My kids got to run around and play outside with a couple of other kids who were staying there. We got to see the owls that were living in the square parts on the side of the big sign. We ate decent American style Chinese food. (You didn't expect to find really authentic Chinese food in the middle of NV, did you?) They were willing to make food for us even though they had just closed. Everyone there (working there as well as staying there) was incredibly friendly and nice. read more

This is a hidden treasure. Owner's Marina and her wonderful husband cooked up a delicious chicken noodle soup, Chicken Curry and Beef & Broccoli. My husband and I totally enjoyed the meal. To think that we have passed by many times but have never been here before only because we had never heard of it. Great service from Marina and her husband who are super friendly and nice. They made us feel at ease. They actually use fresh ingredients and put thought into selecting the best ingredients to cook for their customers. If I was just rating the friendliness of the gentleman who checked us in for our night at the motel it would be a 5 Star. He was very kind and accommodating. The room we stayed in was very clean but I can't imagine what it would be like in the extreme heat. Bedroom was off the back and no ac in that part of the room. Only ac unit was in the front of the large 1 bedroom style room. No way that ac was going to cool down the back section of the room. The restaurant associated with this business was not Chinese but Mexican/American. Actually we were looking forward to some Chinese food. . Our waitress was so removed; obviously did not want to be there. Total lack of personality! Needs a reminder of how to work with the public especially if working for tips! But food tasted good... We would stay again but probably not eat there and ask for a different room. read more

BEST Chinese food we've ever had, and to have it in such a small town! Egg rolls are exceptional. Nothing like I've ever had before-with lots of bean sprouts inside. Don't miss the Szechuan beef or shrimp with garlic. If you eat here, don't be in a hurry. Everything is made fresh, and takes quite awhile to get your food. The couple that runs it is darling, funny, and very friendly. If he doesn't get an order up in a timely manner to her liking, they start arguing, and her body language is hilarious. We went on a Friday evening, and waited almost an hour for our food, but almost all tables were filled- with only one cook preparing your meal. You wouldn't expect to find friendly, personable customer service, super clean rooms, a busy RV park, and awesome Chinese food in one place in Wells, Nevada, but here it is. All of the great reviews are well-deserved. We drove in from Boise on a gray and rainy night with a reservation already paid for through hotels.com. After reading one bad review about how the person paid for a room online then was informed his room was given away, I was wary. I called to make sure our room would still be available and the owner answered. Not only was he extremely warm and nice, he assured me that our room was ready and waiting for us. A few hours into our trip I looked up the restaurant and discovered it closed 15 minutes before we would arrive. I called again and asked if we could order and pick up when we got in. "Don't worry about it," he said. "We'll cook for you when you get here." We were thrilled. When we arrived the owner was waiting in the office for us with our room key and hotels.com receipt. Check in was that simple. We ordered dinner and drove around the back of the restaurant to the motel. There were a handful of cars but it wasn't packed. It was also very quiet. About 15 minutes later the owner called to let me know we could come and pick up our food. We had sautéed veggies in brown sauce (subgum or chop suey, I can't remember which one) and a veggie noodle soup - both very good. We also had the pork and seeds appetizer and let me tell you, I haven't had authentic pork and seeds like that since the last time I went to the International District in Seattle. Our room had two queen beds, new carpet, a little kitchenette with brand new appliances (stove, oven, micro, fridge), a coffee maker and packets of Chinese tea, which I thought was a nice touch. However, if you are staying for any length of time you may have to ask for cooking pans and plates. I don't remember seeing anything to cook with. Shower pressure was okay but the handles in the shower were touchy so it took a while to get the temperature of the water just right. They provide two packets of soap and two conditioning shampoos from the Desert Essence brand. There were plenty of towels and everything from the new carpet to the fridge was clean, clean, clean. I guess I could have substituted "spotless" for those three "clean"s, but you get the picture! Another huge plus: they have three wireless options, all free, one without a password and two requiring a password. "Just use the strongest one," the owner said. He also pointed out there was WIRED connection in the room. Sweet! I used the Ethernet cord to finish work I needed to complete that night and it was more than fast enough to git 'er done. If we are ever back in Wells we will definitely stay here again. The customer service far exceeded our expectations and we are grateful they kept the restaurant open for us so we could eat a hot dinner after a long, cold day on the road. One thing to note is that the restaurant will be closed for the holidays for an extended period of time so the owners can take a well-deserved vacation. read more

Wasn't sure what to expect from the looks of the outside of the building, but once inside we were very pleased. Great food and great service. The sweet-n-sour chicken is awesome! Light, flavorful, and crunchy. My hubby had the chicken and vegetables and he really liked that, too. As each dish went by to other tables (both Chinese and American) we found ourselves saying, "We need to come back and try that, too!" Definitely worth the stop!! read more

Very pleasantly surprised by this stop! The proprietors were friendly and welcoming, and the food was way better than I would expect from a pitstop restraunt in the middle of the desert. I got the Hunan Beef and liked it a lot (though I should have gotten it at "Hot" spicy instead of "Medium"). What a great find! We ordered bbq pork and pot stickers for appetizers and gobbled them up pretty quickly (we were starving) and both were excellent. For our dinner we ordered chicken curry (him) and Schezuan beef (me). Both were amazing. Can't wait to eat the leftovers for lunch tomorrow! We had the egg rolls, and now I realize that whatever I was eating before today was not an egg roll. No egg roll will ever compare. The batter for the egg roll is a family recipe, and it is made of magic. I popped walnut shrimp like it was candy. And the hot and sour pork was life changing. The sauce is the boss. The highlights were the egg foo young and the potstickers. They also easily handled our large group of 11 including a few kids. I'm not sure why it says they don't serve alcohol; they had beer and wine available. The service was great too! If you're staying at a nearby RV park, definitely check this place out. read more

Just off I-80, the place has been in business since the early 80's...so they must be doing something right. It is owned by a Chinese family. Rooms are very clean and mine had a small kitchenette, if you wanted to stay longer and do a little cooking.... But why? ... as the owner told us, the Chinese food here is great. All made from scratch, fresh celery, bamboo shoots etc. Nothing out of a can. Kung Pow beef was excellent, I had combo Lo Mein. Also excellent...REAL Chinese noodles, not spaghetti. Proprietress of the motel was very friendly, I'd comeback just for the food next time I'm near Wells. You won't be disappointed! read more

Restaurant - These folks couldn't have been nicer. It's a small, little Chinese place just off the freeway. We were there for my father's memorial. We had 9 of us to feed at 7:45 on a Saturday evening. Obviously, they are unaccustomed to this big a group without notice. But they accommodated us perfectly. We ended up with a couple of family style dinners which allowed us a lot of a few different dishes. We also ordered the Broccoli and Beef and the Chicken Curry. Everything tasted absolutely delicious. Chow mein is not something that most of us at the table would have ordered normally, but it was on the family dinners. We ALL loved it!
