I continue to be amazed at how this clinic truly understands my condition, since over 95% of…read moreneurologists only know it is a cyst in the spinal cord. It is something I have to deal with on a daily basis and choose to push myself, rather than remain in bed. The only way I can do that is with the help from Pain and Wellness Institute in Spring Branch. The quality of their care and knowledge exceeds my expectations, for which I am thankful. The girls at the front desk always welcome me with a smile. The traffic was so awful yesterday that I called, letting them know I would be 10 minutes late. Yet, I was still greeted with smiling faces.. i truly can not say enough about how much I appreciate Pain and Wellness Institute. Their knowledge, professionalism, and genuine warmth make my life easier as I deal with this horrendous condition. Very rare to find any doctors who understand. I know that because before I found them, we had run the gamit in trying to find neurologists and doctors who had exceptional knowledge of this condition. All to no avail. I literally had one neurologist in New York and Denver to consult. I had a wonderful Neurologist in Dallas who we made the trip to see each time because he was just that good. He suddenly died one weekend and it broke my heart, not to mention all of his patients who were left to find adequate help. When I asked if his partners could help me, or refer me to someone who was familiar with my condition, they admitted they could not help, and did not know another neurologist with the knowledge to help me. I actually was thankful for their honesty, as I had wasted a lot of time going to neurologists who pretended to know about Syringomyelia. So, with that said, I applaud Dr. Lai's Pain and Wellness Institute because it is a relief to be their patient. I will add that any MS patients would probably be able to receive help from Dr. Lai, as there are many similarities with my condition. A special thanks to Chyrissa Staley, for her knowledge and genuine couragement. As always, laughter helps me to endure and she freely brings humor to the table, yet remains professional in helping me. A very rare combination in the medical world.

The wait was a little long, but Dr Lai and his staff were absolutely outstanding. Looking forward…read moreto the care I expect to receive from this group.

This is the third time we have used this location and received 2 separate bills. This will probably be the last time I ever use this facility. Why is it my responsibility to pay the doctor? 1 bill for service, like normal businesses. The company should be responsible for paying the doctor, not me. I didn't like having to do self check in either. A receptionist would have been nice at the front desk to greet patients, instead of feeling lost until someone from the back came out. The customer service was really really good, but the one complaint is I was given a chest xray after I had already said no. That is unacceptable and now I'm literally paying for it.

Friday night, I was bitten on the arm by a spider. As it woke me up, I could not tell from his…read moreremains what kind it was. I washed it off and went back to bed. The next morning, I had a knot on my forearm about the size of a pecan. I started treating it with some antibiotic salve that we had at the house. Over the next couple of days, it became inflamed and started to hurt. Unfortunately, I waited until the redness was covering from my elbow to my wrist. When the swelling started pressing against my arm nerves, I knew I had to get to a doctor. I made the decision about 10 PM on Monday night to go to this new ER. Parking was easy as this used to be a grocery store parking lot. I walked in and found a totally empty waiting room and reception area. I looked around for some way to contact the folks, but everything was closed. In a few minutes a nurse came out to see who had entered, and finding me with a swollen red arm, took me straight back to a treatment room. After taking a medical history, discussion of what happened, and getting my vitals, she had me lie down and went to get a doctor. Upon returning, she asked if I had my phone with me, and finding I did, said I would receive a text and that I needed to follow the directions in the text. I did that, and it amounted to completing all the paperwork that needed to be completed. This was so much better than having to fill out all the paperwork myself. The doctor came in, went over all the same stuff the nurse had done, and indicated that they were going to start me on a very strong antibiotic then, and would write me a prescription for 10 days of the same antibiotic. I was advised not to miss any of the medication (taken 3 times per day) for 10 days. I was also advised to go to my PCP by the end of the week for follow up. He also said that if it got worse, before I got in to see my PCP that I should return to him. So here I am a week after the bite. The medicine has really made a difference in the arm. He warned me that the antibiotic may give me stomach trouble, and he was right. So he has been accurate on all that he said. Will I return? Hopefully I will not need to come back, but if I do need the ER, I definitely will come back here. They did everything I needed.

The nurse and Nurse Practitioner were both very skilled with excellent bedside manner. A little out of my way but worth the drive the next time I need help! Thanks to my wife for validating that they take out insurance before we reached out. Receptionist did the same verification which was helpful and thorough.
