There were three lines at Passport security - UK citizens, EU citizens, and Other passports. Went thru the Immigration line super fast - Non-EU, non-UK passport at 9 pm on a Saturday night, was a breeze, despite only two Border Security counters being open. From their, it was a hop thru to a slightly confusing bag claim area and then was headed out to the exits and a long walk to the parking area. This is my 6th visit to Heathrow and I'm very impressed with the wide open, huge, and airy…read moreterminals, especially Terminal 2...The first couple of times it was with Canada Airlines and British Airways and both experiences at the airport for a connecting flight were fine. These last four times involved actually leaving the airport and spending time in London...and when disembarking, it's very smooth getting through immigration and getting to the carousel. Also, whether taking a legendary Black Cab or catching an Uber, it's pretty easy by following the signage... When arriving to the airport, once again, the Uber drop off zone is very clear and checking-in is very easy...getting through Security is also very quick, no need to take your toiletries or laptop out - they have sophisticated X-rays. That wasn't the case in 2024... Once past Security, there are a number of excellent shops and restaurants and the lounges are incredible...I really love England, London, and Heathrow...:)

A tale of two trips! Going to EMA and flying to France was uneventful and fairly pleasant. Our taxi…read moredropped us off, checked in our cases 3 hours before departure, plenty of time to chill, have breakfast, coffee etc. Coming back not so good!! Total chaos, people everywhere, no taxi rank, 45 minute wait for a taxi so you end up having to wrestle to find an Uber and a place where they can pick you up. But we made it. It's also the home to Astac Air Traffic Control College (the reason I was there) and The Aviator Bar/Restaurant - both great places. Although I didn't fly, I spent a week around and about, and visited the main terminal a couple of times (if you could call it that). It's small and friendly, but quite adequate. Not quite in the same league as the bigger airports - no shops and restaurants, but plenty of brochures to read while you're waiting. Best thing is the free car parking - there aren't many airports that can boast that! Hopefully they won't try and change that as it would be a blow to the other businesses located on site. A nice place to visit if you like to look at planes, although most of it is GA so if the weather isn't too good then there won't be much flying.

It is mostly used for pilot training, and business flights by rich passengers who can afford to own or charter planes. Often you can see planespotters on the lay-by's, waiting for a glimpse of what they apparently consider to be a special jet. Although the facility is secure and the public cannot ordinarily get inside, at the edges you can get quite close to planes about to land and it can be fun to watch. No regularly scheduled commercial airline service here, though.

Somehow due to daylight savings, it got messed up and the Bus arrived 1 hr late... not a pleasant experience. The airport is not that huge, and it's easy to navigate. We got our luggage in no time (it was like 1 AM, so ofcourse no rush was there) and we were the only ones there. ofcourse it's too far from central London and they have Luton Airport Express. to reach LTN - simply hop on a train at St Pancras International to arrive at Luton Airport Parkway, and then take a DART Shuttle to the terminal, all in as little as 32 minutes. It's a fast and seamless way to get to the departure gate. easy check-in, security was quick and hassle-free... lots of shops to browse (or buy) or restaurants to eat... standard Starbucks, Costa, Burger King, MS Simply food. and ofcourse it's cheaper ;)

This is the main British Airways terminal at LHR and is large and well-equipped…read more If you're traveling in first or have one world emerald status you can use the beautiful British Airways first check in area which has its own check-in area with a private security screening that leads directly to the British Airways first lounge. We also transited through this terminal on our way to London, and the security screening wait was minimal, but it definitely can get very busy at times. There are tons of dining and shopping opportunities here. They also have a complimentary personal shopper service you can use to help you with your shopping including locating items ahead of time and escorting you to various stores. The British Airways lounges here are great particularly the Concorde room. Be aware of your departure gate as long haul services typically depart from B and C gates which requires an underground train ride from the main terminal and some additional time.

After you are checked in,you enter basically a large shopping mall with bars, restaurants and shops. Prices are similar to most airports. Definitely a good way to use up any extra English Pounds that you might have.
