The landing was fine, exiting the plane was good, going through the broader agent was simple and picking up my baggage was great. I also flew out from Heathrow to go to Germany which was my layover before going home to Los Angeles. The only issue I experience here was the check in desk was not open until like an hour before my departure. Then the walk from the baggage drop off and security was far.

Total chaos, people everywhere, no taxi rank, 45 minute wait for a taxi so you end up having to wrestle to find an Uber and a place where they can pick you up. But we made it. It's also the home to Astac Air Traffic Control College (the reason I was there) and The Aviator Bar/Restaurant - both great places. Although I didn't fly, I spent a week around and about, and visited the main terminal a couple of times (if you could call it that). It's small and friendly, but quite adequate. Not quite in the same league as the bigger airports - no shops and restaurants, but plenty of brochures to read while you're waiting. Best thing is the free car parking - there aren't many airports that can boast that! Hopefully they won't try and change that as it would be a blow to the other businesses located on site. A nice place to visit if you like to look at planes, although most of it is GA so if the weather isn't too good then there won't be much flying.

It is mostly used for pilot training, and business flights by rich passengers who can afford to own or charter planes. Often you can see planespotters on the lay-by's, waiting for a glimpse of what they apparently consider to be a special jet. Although the facility is secure and the public cannot ordinarily get inside, at the edges you can get quite close to planes about to land and it can be fun to watch. No regularly scheduled commercial airline service here, though.

Somehow due to daylight savings, it got messed up and the Bus arrived 1 hr late... not a pleasant experience. The airport is not that huge, and it's easy to navigate. We got our luggage in no time (it was like 1 AM, so ofcourse no rush was there) and we were the only ones there. ofcourse it's too far from central London and they have Luton Airport Express. to reach LTN - simply hop on a train at St Pancras International to arrive at Luton Airport Parkway, and then take a DART Shuttle to the terminal, all in as little as 32 minutes. It's a fast and seamless way to get to the departure gate. easy check-in, security was quick and hassle-free... lots of shops to browse (or buy) or restaurants to eat... standard Starbucks, Costa, Burger King, MS Simply food. and ofcourse it's cheaper ;)

I love how the Picadilly line drops me off directly at Terminal 5, although it took me a couple tries to get on board a train that stops at Terminal 5! The priority security is helpful for premium cabin passengers although the rules at the airport weren't clear. For example, I was scolded for wearing my belt while it seemed that liquids up to 2L were permitted?!? The walk and tram to the B gates is misleadingly quite far, probably a 15-20 minute walk/ride. There are also limited food options once at the B gates, which are also extremely stuffy...

It has now has the added honor and distinction of being one of the cleanest, smooth, efficient, safe, nicest and happiest airports. Gone are the experiences of the 90's and that era of long lines in security and check in, long waits at baggage claim, tedious terminal transfer and traffic jams coming in and exiting. 1/29/26 - bright and happy staff at 5:50 am, immaculate and bright airport, team member standing outside the First Class Lounge welcoming and directing all, (great lounge btw with ample and spread out seating on very comfy sofas, great hot food, quality beverages and spotless bathrooms and showers); there is an ease in the air and happy folks around everywhere- the hospitality staff, the Boots, souvenir, Macallum, Rolex boutique members. There was a smooth flow despite the airport having a lot of delayed and cancelled flights coming in post storm in the US. The airport is easy to get around and there are info booths and the best part - there is an employee to assist literally every 100 feet. I also got to mail out some cards via a bright red Royal Mail box smack in the middle of Terminal 5. 5 Stars!

If there's good shopping, I'm all for it....lol…read more.. I don't normally fly out of terminal 3 whenever I'm connecting or arriving from LA. The occasional transfer does put me through this terminal. From terminal 5, we had to have a little trek until we reach the shuttle bus downstairs. From there, it's a good few minutes till you arrival to terminal 3. There's a good amount of designer shops right when you get off the shuttle and starts walking through. They know how to get people's attention and what better way than amazing shopping. All your luxury high ends shops which is also at terminal 5. I don't remember what the food options are as I've never eaten here. But depending on what gate you're flying out, it can be a major trek. From our connection in this terminal. The gate that we were taking off was quite a ways. It's fine if you have enough time to walk and enjoy but when your flight arrives late and you only have a limited amount of time to get to the next gate. That can be a bit of a stress. Why is that some gates are so much further and other the ones that you alway get when you're in a rush... lol.... Terminal 3 is a pretty big area. If you have plenty of time, enjoy the shops or at least window shop.
