We stayed here during our stay in Barcelona.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and to our surprise, the staff decorated our hotel room w/rose petals and hand written notes left on our bed. I love when hotels do stuff like this.
Location: not touristy at all, but walking distance to La Sagrada Familia. There's also a metro station down the block which made it easy to get around. At the end of the block there's also a chain coffee shop that we stopped at once.
There's a super popular ramen shop down the street with a 1-2 hour wait lol. We didn't wait and instead ate across the street at a Middle Eastern restaurant which was fabulous.
At the hotel, we were given a card to redeem 2 welcome drinks. We didn't end up using them btw. We also had their breakfast buffet one morning. The food selection was okay, but the staff was wonderful and kind :)
They replenished our water bottle in the room every day.
The only thing that became an issue was in the mornings, there was a strong sewer smell in our restroom. It was so bad, I would gag from the smell just waking in there, and would have to close the door to the restroom and brush my teeth while I sat on the bed. I literally could not stay in that restroom. When we'd return to the hotel during the day, the smell was gone. So it was just in the mornings.
We thought it was just a one time thing. But The next morning, same awful smell and we told the hotel staff later in the day when we returned. Apparently they are aware of this smell b/c they said the corner room (ours) usually only smells when it rains. But it didn't rain at all during our stay so they didn't know how/why the smell was there.
They were unable to move us to another room as they were fully booked, but maintenance went to install an air purifier thingy in our restroom. That seemed to help. The front desk offered to give us a drink from the bar (hard liquor), and we stated we hadn't even used the free coupon thingy yet. But we took that opportunity to use our free drink: I got a glass of cava and hubby got a beer.
They offered us breakfast the next morning, on them, but that was when we were checking out and also, their breakfast started at 7am, and we needed to be checked-out by 6am. I asked if they could have something ready for us by 6am, and they said no. So we declined the breakfast. I asked if they could do a partial refund for the inconvenience and they seemed to go around the issue and said I'd have to talk to the manager in the morning when we checked-out. Spoke w/that manager the next morning, but he also seemed to go around it and said he'd have to talk to his boss. After a couple emails they eventually gave us a partial refund for the nights we were there due to the awful smell. read more
