Long story short and 3 visits and 3 weeks later. They said you can't rotate large tires! What!? They're only 33" tires. And this: 179 miles added to my odometer which I reset after thinking it was odd I had to fill up the truck b4 brining it back into them the last time. Took it to another shop, alignment was still off, tires got rotated, and they thought that shop was mentally slow for putting a god awful amount of weights on the tires when balancing. Place is ran by thieves, imbeciles, and jerks.

Luckily, Brett and Scott from Hamel Sales happened to be there towing another car and offered to help. They quickly determined that it was my starter that would need to be replaced. I was lucky in that my family was able to pick me up and I could stay in STL for the night. Hamel Sales called me early the next day to inform me of what they needed to do, cost, and timing. They were very communicative and nice. No one loves to spend $$$ on getting their car repaired but it eased the blow to do it here. They were really kind and helpful. I highly recommend them if you're in a pinch near Hamel!

I am excited to pick up my car tomorrow, all fixed up and ready to go. Southside Auto earned my trust for a good job many years ago. He tried to charge me $480 for a battery for my jeep wrangler which didn't include installation. When i refused, he tried to charge me $70, half an hour of diagnostics, for checking 2 of my fluids (oil & transmission fluid) without performing the diagnostic on my transmission, i was there to get a transmission diagnostics. In addition, got mad and hung up in my face because i chose to take it elsewhere. Horrible experience, I highly DO NOT recommend. The new shop I took it to informed me that my battery that was already in the jeep was under warranty and I can switch it out if I want or he can get me a better battery (same battery that Risters tried to charge me $480 for), for $250.

Overcharged us for the part by over $1,000 dollars and then afterwards I call to find out that there's now lights on my dashboard when there was NONE to begin with. The Jeep dealership wouldn't help them program my car due to the part being put on wrong as well as them having some of the new parts in the front seat. Those parts should've been on there but they were trying to cut corners, did not work out at all. After all this I asked for my car back with my old parts cause I didn't trust them to do anything with my car. But they said no. My car has been gone for about 2 weeks and counting. Costellos definitely stood out so I gave them a call. Surprisingly, they could get me in two days later. At 8:30 am I dropped off the Jeep and Dylon (I think that was his name, I am terribly about names) quickly recognized and greeted me. We talked quickly while standing a good distance and gave him the situation. Shortly after lunch they called to let me know that they had fixed the leak and it was ready to be picked up. A brake hose had rusted through and they replaced it then flushed and bled the brakes. Upon picking up my Jeep the price was a little higher than I expected. But to be honest I usually try to do the work myself. So of course I have not used a mechanic for a very long time. The Jeep was clean and no paper mats, plastic bag seat covers, or greasy fingerprints found anywhere. So, this is really a 4 1/2 stars review as the work was done quickly, cleanly, and most importantly correctly. The price may be a bit high but they only fixed what needed fixed and did not turn it into something more than it was. Would I take my vehicle there next time I am unable or unwilling to work on it, yes definitely. Will I not complain about the price... well... I am human.

He solved a particularly bizarre problem I was having with my Nissan after I'd been told by another mechanic that the problem couldn't be fixed and that the only chance was a dealership. On the recommendation of someone at Blackburn College, I took the car to Costello's. Jim spent about two weeks trying to locate and fix my car and finally solved the problem. He took about an hour when I went to pick up the car to explain in great detail everything that he trialed and errored before finally fixing the issue. Jim is also quite an honest guy when it comes to unnecessary repairs or repairs that in the grand scheme of things won't be worth it. My girlfriend took her ancient Pontiac in with an exhaust problem and Jim said it could be fixed but given the age of the car and the cost of the repair, he told her it was probably a better idea to save her money for a new car (which she did). In short, couldn't possibly recommend Costello's enough.
