We've been visiting Skinny Bones Pumpkin Patch for the past 5 years. We first discovered it when we…read moregot our dog and were looking for fall activities, and it quickly became a favorite. One of the best parts is their dog-friendly day, complete with a Halloween costume contest for pups, these types of events are what this city definitely needs more of! Since then, it's become a yearly tradition for us, and now we get to enjoy it with our little one, too. My only drawback is it's much smaller than some of the other well-known pumpkin patches. That said, the smaller size can actually be a perk. It's nice to experience everything in one visit without having to come back multiple times or spend the entire day.

I have consistently hit Skinny Bones each year since my kids were little. It's tough to gauge if…read moreit's expensive still, or just cheaper than another pumpkin patch but for a family of four it's about a $200+ day . We did spend nearly four hours here last Saturday despite it being a bit chilly. I will say they finally have a lot more to do, and I appreciate the updates they've made to make it more of a day trip than a quick trip. We rode all the rides, slid the slides, and hit both train/hayracks. We spent our lunch in the food barn and got some discount hoodies and tops in the market. We also got 2 over prices pumpkins but when in rome. You can't leave SBP without their very tart apple cider donuts. so good! We'll continue to come back, even if it's a a pricey day.

Let's get the elephant out of the room right away: yes, Vala's is undeniably expensive. You might…read morelegitimately feel like you need to take out a small personal loan to fully experience everything the place has to offer, and there's no defending some of the price points. That being said? I will forever be a massive fan, price tag be damned. Vala's holds a permanent spot in my heart from visiting year after year growing up, and now that I have my own family, passing those exact memories down is priceless. It softens the financial blow seeing that they actually reinvest that money back into the grounds every single season. The new rides, the updated miniature golf, the added food stands, and an overall cleaner, more polished park compared to past years make a huge difference. If you're planning your trip around the food, here is the honest rundown: Chicken Pot Pie & Pie Combo: An absolute must-get. Yes, they tend to overwork the pie crust a bit, but the fillings are damn good regardless. The Lemon Walnut and Brown Butter are personal standouts. Tater Twister (GOAT status): Easily one of the best things on the farm. Incredible flavor, great texture, and getting one wrapped around a hot dog was a fantastic surprise. Mashed Potato Bowl: Pure comfort food, absolute fire, and an automatic re-order next time. Hard Ciders: Sitting around $10, which honestly makes them feel like the most reasonable purchase in the entire park. Excellent across the board. Turkey Leg: Standard theme-park affair. Classic novelty, though it definitely could use a touch more smoke and seasoning. Cheese Quesadilla: Solid and the kiddo loved it, but $15 for melted cheese in a tortilla is steep. Chili: Skip it. It's basically thin chili broth desperately begging for beans and meat. "Buffalo Chicken" Tots: The biggest disappointment of the day. Charging $15 for Buffalo Chicken Tots implies there will actually be chicken involved. Nope - just plain tater tots drenched in hot sauce. At the end of the day, food hits and misses fade into the background when you're there. Nothing beats walking the grounds with the smell of woodsmoke and campfires in the air, watching your kid light up over everything - whether it's the pumpkin-eating dragon, the giant slides, the sand pits, or the spooky barn setups. Without Vala's, it just doesn't feel like fall in Nebraska. Pro-tip: If you plan on stepping foot through the gates more than once, just get a season pass. We run with the Silver Pass, which blacks out the three peak mid-October Saturdays - and honestly, that's a blessing in disguise. Navigating the park alongside 100,000 people on peak peak days isn't the move anyway. Go on an off-peak day, pace your wallet, and soak in the atmosphere.

This place gives all the Halloween town vibes, it gives off the childhood feels that makes you want to walk around all day and just enjoy the day. We hit the spots for a nice warm brew sat outside next to the fire pits (nice touch). Lines weren't as bad as they looked the lil piggy race was too cute I loved how they chose people of all ages. The food got great reviews from my friends especially the pot pies. The gift shop to exit was a really nice touch as well with something for everyone

But we love coming here for the Renaissance Faire and the Pirate Festival, we come to at least one of them every year, so obviously we are satisfied with the place. The Ren Faire is held for 3 weekends in the Spring; the pirate festival is one weekend in late summer. The pirate festival is on a smaller scale. I think it's fun to go because it's cool to just wear clothes that are slightly piratey and hang out, watch some performers, and eat food I wouldn't normally eat. These things cost about $18 to get in, and then with food and little items you want to buy it can kind of add up. But that's the nature of the thing. Parking is free. You will probably be parking in a grassy area. For the big events they usually have people directing traffic so it stays pretty orderly.

They have a live band-from like 6-9pm? food & drink stations, and lots to see if you want to walk around. Although there were long lines to get food & drinks, it seemed to go quickly because the band was playing, you could people watch and just talking to the people in front or behind you. Everyone was so nice! They do have a different selection of drinks at different bars, so be sure to check that out. I think the value for what we purchased was decent. If you don't want nachos & tacos there's another food stand up the hill with hamburgers & hot dogs! Seems to be something for everyone & all ages are welcome! There's a lot of picnic tables & you can bring a folding chair. This is a nice venue to chill & hang out especially after a long bike ride!
