Went with Sunday lunch with some friends and had a mixed experience. I liked that rather than a traditional Sunday roast they had a broader offering and a little bit more sophisticated. It is a two course meal.
Started with Caprese salad, tomato and mozzarella. The cheese was good and generous. The tomato was disappointing, a small tomato sliced up, tasted like it was ordered from Tesco without any selection.
For the main i had the pork, which was a slice of pork loin and a slice of gammon. Very small portion and came with roast potatoes but again very small portion of the roast potatoes. Accompanying veg dish was quite diverse and good, from boiled potatoes to carrots to broccoli and cauliflower. All the veg was cooked quite well.
My favorite part of the meal was tiramasu. Lovely taste and quite an ample portion.
The atmosphere clearly felt like a hotel breakfast room. Not bad but not a fine restaurant experience (the opposite of Haworth's, where you feel you are in a restaurant that happens to be in a hotel). Service was uneven, at times good, at times almost impossible to get help. read more
