Galla (spelling) the sommelier knew the region extremely well and she walked me through the journey of different Alsace wine with respect to the soul types, terrors. Learned so much in one evening and tasted many great Grand CRUs Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer. What a memorable night!

While visiting the vignobles is great, there's something to be said for being able to try an enormous range of wines from all across the region right in downtown Colmar. Their dessert wine selection in particular was something else and made for an unparalleled tasting experience. Reservations would definitely be a good idea, though it wasn't clear if they were necessary. Once it was realized that we were interested in and greatly enjoying the wines, we got fantastic service with thoughtful recommendations. Only downside was, as is typical, clouds of smoke outside, so you may want to get a seat inside.

For an intimate and local experience. A really nice and cosy wein stube…read more My first impression was that I had walked into someone s living room. We then picked a table in the back corner which was really nice and intimate. The waitress was very nice and attentive. We tried some local wines and they were all very tasty. All main courses come with a salad. It is a really decent sized salad that works well as a starter. The one we had was mixed lettuce dressed in a gorgeous dressing, grated carrot in a pickle dressing, cabbage in another dressing and a little pot of beetroot. For mains I had the mandel butter forelle. It was the best cooked fish I have had in Germany. The fish was very fresh, it was however, german style, swimming in butter. But it was a really good portion of fish with steamed potatoes. It was a little bit too greasy and the lemon was too small but apart from that I really enjoyed my dish. The boyfriend had the turkey Züricher art. Basically strips of turkey with mushrooms in a cream sauce with a potato rösti. It was maybe a bit too heavy but really tasty still. To finish off our meals we shared the home made cherries in kirsch with ice cream and cream. This is a real grown up dessert. The cherries tasted more of kirsch than cherries and was a bit too strong. It was quite a nice combination with the ice cream but it is not something I would have again. The grand total was still just under 40 euros. I would say it was worth every cent.
