We needed the monument (headstone and foot stone) installed for the one year anniversary, but it took forever for my sister and I to agree on the language, so we put off the order. I ended up checking with four monument companies in the spring and chose Pulver-Huess, in part because we had seen their work on the grave next to Mom's and thought it was very well done. They were also significantly less expensive than at least one of the other options. Roger was very patient as my sister and I worked out the most minute of details. It's a family-owned business (can't remember if Roger said he is the third generation and his son is the fourth or whether he is the fourth and his son is the fifth). Either way, you get the point. The office is in a house just across the street from Mount Hope and it is definitely not a fancy place. (In fact, if my sister had seen the place, I guarantee that she would have wanted us to buy the monument from someplace fancier.) And I don't think they even have a website. But the bottom line is that Pulver-Heuss made a difficult situation as pleasant as possible, and the headstone and footstone look gorgeous.

We had placed silk flowers on our parents' grave for American Easter (4/9/2023) and Ukrainian Easter (4/16/2023). When we came this past Sunday, April 9th, Ukrainian Palm Sunday we were so upset to see that the Flowers were thrown away. How can Mt. Hope to be so callous and not allow the flowers for such an important, most holy day as Easter. Mt. Hope Cemetery should be ashamed of itself for doing such an appalling act.

At the cemetary, as the priest blessed the coffin, I recognized that the funeral home embossed the wrong name on the outside of my father's coffin! There was nothing I could do at that moment because of distraught family members. If I were there alone, I would have stopped the burial! Instead, I immediately contacted the funeral home. To this day, four months later, Matt and the funeral home have not corrected the problem. I have called a number of times. I would NOT recommend this funeral home because of their insincerity and refusal to take responsibility for their mistake. The idea of my father's coffin having the wrong name on it makes me crazy on a daily basis. My father has gone to meet his Maker in a coffin with a mistake that will stay there virtually forever. We were all devastated by her death and needed to make arrangements immediately. Since my parents had the foresight to pre-plan their arrangements, everything went very smoothly. Every detail from the treatment of my mother, the flowers, media setup, Prayer and Thank You cards were first class. The makeup artist was very skilled because my mom had suffered terribly and she had the wounds to prove it. There was no evidence of this when we viewed her. Her makeup and hair matched the photos we sent. They even added earrings because we had forgotten to bring them. We later replaced them with her own. We were all in agreement they could not have done better. The staff was extremely respectful and helpful, keeping things dignified yet personal, not stuffy or stiff. Their coordination with the florist, printers, engravers, the Church, even Bag Pipers took the stress off of us and they delivered on every promise. Somehow even though my mother was very elderly and very sick, we didn't have a funeral home selected. On the day she passed, I called them at 7:30am, having attended a friend's father's wake there and remembering it as very elegant. Tom and Jeff arrived an hour later, professionally and with great compassion. From the moment I called the answering service to the burial, all went professionally and smoothly, and all was done with extreme care, compassion and discretion. They handled everything, from arrangements for the beautiful wake to the interactions with the church, the monument company and the cemetery. All was done flawlessly with impeccable attention to detail and a genuine compassion for the family and my mother. There was even a huge snowstorm on the day of burial and even though the various counterparts were wavering, they showed up on time and got everything done. Honestly, I couldn't recommend them more highly. It's now been three months but I am still so grateful to them for handling everything so beautifully.
