At first glance the front exterior is very underwhelming. But, upon entering, the hospitality was so welcoming that I was instantly at ease. Watertower Winery offered us a $5 sampling of 6 wines that included a signature glass (these were perfect 2 oz pours & well worth sampling). We chose a Riesling and headed to the back deck. I've been there to see a complete band and I've been there to see a solo act. Now for the wine. Crown has a very good variety of wine. Their blackberry wine is sweet, the Vignoles is excellent and the Norton is a great red. The tasting bar is very spacious and for $7.50 you get five sample pours which are more than the standard one ounce servings you get from most wineries. The pretzels are tasty and the service is way above average. Definitely recommend a trip to Crown Valley. Here again in July 2020. Place is still one of the best winery's to visit. Still 5 star and still great place to get your wine on.

It appeared slow, however we were told we needed a reservation but could wait an hour, order a drink and take-out appetizers. Sense it was the only restaurant open for miles we agreed. We ordered at the bar from the same woman that helped us at the hostess stand. The spicy feta dip was great, though a little strange they gave it to us truly in a to-go container complete without napkins in a plastic bag. We were sat at right around 7:15pm. Our server was great, he was covering the entire floor. Everything else we ordered was good and served quickly. They did their best with little staff, appreciated them not turning us away although the initial experience was a little strange.

The sun was warm, but not too harsh. There was a feeling of freshness being out in the country. We had such a good time. OK food is on the way. We have been wanting to take a trip to Cave Vineyard for a while! A bit over an hour drive from…read morehome, I'd have definitely been more upset at making this drive had we not stopped a couple other places in Ste Genevieve that offered redemption for the experience we had here. The one positive I can mention, is the people are all super nice. Sadly, everything else falls short. The wine is terrible. Not just terrible, but I think that there is something actually wrong with most of them as most are unpleasantly sour and taste of vinegar. I think they must know this too, as these wines are priced 1/2 off for a bottle on their menu. They'd do well just to cut their losses, and dump them. The Grotta Rosa, and the Cave rock were the only two wines that were palatable, and they were just okay. The oddest part of the whole experience of the Cave Vineyard, is in fact the cave. All wine is sampled, and purchased at their tasting room....which is not in the cave. The cave is simply a place that you can sit and drink, and you must either walk to it (which is only maybe a 5-7 minute walk) or they offer to take you there via golf cart. So, you must either purchase all your bottles up front to take with you, or make trips back and forth. You must also head back to the tasting room, to use the bathroom. Definitely skip this one.

It's the perfect sized winery. It's not a huge place where you most likely won't be remembered. It's not small like some of the wineries where hours are so limited that they'll be closed when you want to come by. Sand Creek Vineyard has the service of a small winery but the selection of a larger one. Yes, there is a good selection of wines, so my white dry companion had what she liked, and I was able to have a glass of something sweeter. We even saved a bottle for a craft. We don't do that for just any winery. The service was great. The owner (or possibly the winemaker) did a great job with the tasting and conversed with us, but not much after the tasting, as he had other customers and let us enjoy our post-holiday afternoon. It was a pleasure to spend an hour at Sand Creek, and I will be back.
