Let's get into it. No one wants to need the assistance of a Lawyer. I was fortunate enough to work with Joshua P. Stocks from the Weiland firm after researching a few other firms. For those who are not familiar with Virginia's driving laws, you need a lawyer for this kind of situation; reckless driving is a Class 1 Misdemeanor criminal charge, which is one step underneath a felony. This means a criminal record and potential jail time, not to mention very high court fees and skyrocketing insurance premiums, if you are convicted. I communicated to John that my biggest fear was that this would show up as a misdemeanor on my criminal record. John was very reassuring and confident that this would not happen. Mr. Weiland and team have been and are phenomenal. Apart from being warm and all around great people they're even better and honest attorneys. They were very transparent with me throughout my entire debacle with Henrico county aka the worst place in the US to get a ticket. I was going 96/65 and was promised certain jail time by the cop, the judge and everyone else. Mr. Weiland presented his argument and in short was met with "I'm not buying it from the judge". As I stood there in tears, John proceeded to argue down the judge as to why he needed to see things from another perspective! The judge's response was "in all the years I've been on the bench that has got to be the best argument I've ever heard for I was speeding but didn't know I was speeding". I wanted to let everyone know what a great experience I had with attorney Samantha Upton. I was stopped for a speeding ticket (91 in a 65 zone) on I 95 returning from a wedding. I am a Florida resident and here everyone drives fast on the highway. It seem almost like it would take an act of God to cause the police to pull us over.
