Excellent experience! Early one Sunday morning, I was pulled over as soon as I crossed into VA from NC by an unmarked (and non traditional color) sheriff car. He pulled out from the median and came up on me fast, so I went a little faster to get over. He clocked me going 83 in a 70. Apparently, that's automatically reckless driving. I was a nervous wreck when I received the ticket. Clean driving record. Good job... yet now I was facing a misdemeanor, fines, points and high insurance. To make matters worse, I live 4 hours away in Maryland AND I was to leaving the country on the day of my hearing. So, I needed a lawyer. I did a lot of research. Most were too commercial or not responsive. Mattox Law Firm was the opposite. I received a good rate and assurance that things would be handled. I really made the mistake of using this law firm. It all started about 2 months ago, when I received my speeding ticket. A really bad one. I really don't advise getting a ticket. Well I got one and spoke to my attorney Mark at Mattox law firm. He spent time I told him the whole story and went over what I needed from him. He was saying all the right things and I trusted him so I paid him in full. Everything was going well, I did everything he asked all the supporting documents everything was fine. Until I received and email 2 days before my court date, from a different lawyer Trey Mattox saying he was representing me now and he was busy and needs to push my court date back. I explained to him I'm in the middle of a security clearance investigation and can't push the date back. After a phone call from this guy Trey he would cancel somethings on his schedule and just Power through my case. Not something a person wants to hear from their lawyer. Absolutely no information from me he apparently went to court for me. Hours after my case, I couldn't attend because I'm from outta state I call my lawyer for the outcome. I leave a message perhaps he busy. A few hour later I call again, no answer again so I leave a message. Now I'm worried. Perhaps it was a bad outcome? So I call about three more times over the next few hours and still no answers! The next day I had to go on the Virginia court public records and dig for the results of my own court case that I paid a person a lot of money to attend on my behalf. The outcome wasn't great and I feel my lawyer didn't fight hard enough or take it as serious as he should'v. then the next day I received an email from the Mattox case manager with the worst summary of my court case outcome, and info on the fine price. Still no call from this lawyer Trey at all. All in all. This law firm is I'd say average. Mattox Price is higher than a lot other attorneys in the area of Henrico Virginia and many other better options. Don't leave yourself in the hands of these people that absolutely don't care. While traveling through the Commonwealth of Virginia this summer, I was pulled over and ticketed for doing 81 in a 70 MPH zone. At the time the officer was writing the ticket, I didn't think I was in too much trouble. After all, in my state, doing 11 MPH over the limit doesn't usually warrant a second look from an officer at a speed trap. However, upon further inspection of my ticket, I learned that I was in much more trouble. Even though I was only going 11 MPH over the posted speed limit, in Virginia, driving over 80 MPH is considered Reckless Driving - an offense serious enough to land jail time, and basically the equivalent of a DUI in most states. I was traveling back from D.C. To Florida at night when I was pulled over by a cop in a well known speed trap area. I was going 83 in a 70 because a car behind me was pushing me along and I needed to pass the car on my right to get over. Unfortunately, as I was passing the car a cop was hiding and ended up pulling me over. Though in my 12-13 years of driving I have never had a single ticket or violation, the cop wrote me a ticket for going 85 in a 70, which of course is Reckless in the state of VA. 4/22/2016 While traveling through Virginia, on the interstate, I received a speeding ticket for driving 82 mph in a 70 zone.
