A very credible section of wine and spirits connected by a staff that can point you in the right direction but the shop is narrow and not meant for the carnival of full sized shopping carts competing for an open lane. Ever since Wegmans abandoned their night shift a few years back you're now competing with restocking tugs and personal shopping barges throughout the store. This place use to be my go to place for groceries. That being said, I'm noticing their stock is getting less. Loved their prepackaged thin sliced honey turkey. It's gone. Ok...... Wegman's used to be my absolute favorite supermarket to shop at but lately this place is a zoo. You can shop during off peak hours and it's great but the deli isn't open and there just isn't much to pick from in the produce area. In general, lately the produce has really gone downhill. There is less available and a lot of the time the quality isn't there anymore. If you can get past the crowds, which honestly make me not want to go in, you encounter the employees. The employees were where Wegman's really stood out, in a good way. Lately I have encountered nothing but rude employees, probably because of the crowds of obnoxious people. Today was probably my tipping point. Wegman's does not have any bag-your-own lines. I kindly asked the cashier to give me as few bags as possible, I was perfectly fine with heavy, stuffed bags. He said sure then proceeded to put two/three items in a bag max. When I asked him to please put more in he got annoyed and started making comments about air pockets in the bags...what!?!? Overall this is still one of the better supermarkets in the area but when I start choosing the Shoprite on 9 north over Wegman's I know there is an issue. I'd say they are pretty comparable lately. I guess with Stop N Shop and now A&P closing in the area Wegman's knows they don't have much competition. read more

I am obsessed with Wegmans!! There is really no other food store like it. You can get everything you need here. First off, I always grab a coffee. I have the travel mug so you get 50 cents off each cup. And they have cup holders you can clip onto your cart which I love. You can get cauliflower rice sushi, custom made to order which is more than I can say for any other food store! And it's actually very good. The olive bar is amazing, huge and reasonably priced. Their organic section is great as well! It's bigger than most food stores and they have everything. They have such a large selection of every brand etc. Whenever I need an item I can't find at a regular food store I always know Wegmans will have it. Wegmans Wine and Spirits has become our "go to" place for all of our wines and liquors. They have a good selection of wines under $15.00. Their Rose's are less expensive than Sam's Club for the same brand. My husband is a Port drinker. Several good Ports have been recommended that he still continues to buy. While I am a loyal weekly shopper for both everyday groceries and the occasional higher-end prepared foods treat, my five-star endorsement goes beyond the service they provide the people of Manalapan and surrounding towns every day. It's what they did for us in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Somehow, they were able to get the perishables back in there faster than anyone else, with ample lighting while competitors made you walk the aisles with flashlights, encouraging and upbeat staff, day in and day out. Unlike, say, ShopRite on 9 in Freehold, they also managed to keep their store from looking like the day after the zombie apocalypse. While the shelves weren't stocked to usual standards, they were neat, orderly... they didn't compromise on any of the attention to detail that makes them such a stand out to begin with. But more than that, it's their true sense of community. What most people don't know is that Wegmans was EXTREMELY generous to the local first responders, including those that are not from Manalapan. My brother is among those first responders from a neighboring town sent in to get provisions. In uniform at the time, he was approached by store management and the tale he told of their compassion and generosity was amazing. They took care of the men and women that were out there in the mess taking care of the rest of us. If I could give them a sixth star for that, I would. So, instead, just a big thank you, Wegmans, from the people of Freehold!! read more

I can see why some people might love this place because they did have some good produce and a nice cheese selection. However, it is mass mayhem with not much room to move about with your oversized shopping carts. I felt like I had to keep getting out of the way or was in a traffic jam. The layout is a bit odd too as you walk into produce which is fine, but then there is a break with aisles full of greeting cards, books, etc and then finally more aisles with food. I know that this is not Wegman's problem but the people we encountered shopping here made the Whole Foods crowd seem bearable. Just douche central. Cutting you off and standing right in the middle of the aisle. Cashier at the counter would not apply a Wegman's shopper discount because I could not find my card. I am madly and deeply in love with the Wegmans franchise in general. This was the first store that started my habit of seeking out the closest Wegmans to my general location. Wegmans is classy in a way regular grocery stores, even specialty grocery stores, never are. It is clean and shiny, it is asthetically pleasing in a way I never imagined I'd describe a grocery store. It is well run and organized, filled with extremely friendly, helpful, and competent staff, who know their shit, prepare good food, can help you find things, and are very open to ordering things for you if they are out or do not stock a product. The Wegmans brand products... I actually prefer this stuff by far to any name brand stuff that is out there. Wegmans pasta sauce, Wegmans bread, Wegmans yogurt, Wegmans mayonnaise, Wegmans sodas. The list goes on. "Generic" brand doesn't really do it justice. It's probably obvious just looking around that the produce, meat, fish, and deli are far above their competition. The prepared food selection is ridiculous. If someone asks me where I want to go for lunch, Wegmans is most likely going to be the answer. The sushi is actually good sushi, not only for a grocery store, but for a sushi restaurant. This location is great, not my favorite compared to the many I've been to since this one opened. They have an awesome liquor store attached that has one of the greatest beer selections I've ever seen. They have an expanded organic and international section that makes me happy. If only NJ would change their silly liquor laws and let there be serving counters at this location, then I would come sit down and have a beer or wine and eat there all the time. Lot's of people love Wegman's because it's a type of specialty grocery store. I think it's a cool concept and they are really good at providing specialty foods for pretty much all cultures. This Wegman's however is LOADED with seniors. I'm not saying I hate seniors, I just don't like shopping around them because they are SLOW. Picture the volume of people normally found in Costco, multiply that by geriatric, and up the prices. Tadah!!! You have this Wegman's! The Wegman's liquor store attached to the grocery section is pretty large and has a good selection of beer. (including Stone beer from back in SD) The thing that sucks is that you can't pay for groceries in the liquor section and you can't pay for liquor in the grocery section, might as well not even allow you to walk between the two. They also make your whole party show ID's when buying alcohol... maybe it's a law, but that's super pathetic. What if I didn't drive and didn't bring ID... This is a great Wegmans. My first point that I'll make about this location is they have a very extensive liquor store attached to it. I have found a lot of local NJ beers here before other places so they really keep up with what is in the area. This Wegmans has a great selection of different types of food to get for lunch and dinner at the buffets. The last time I was there they had a whole two sections for vegetarian alone. I usually get some kind of sushi which is decent considering it's from a food store. The sushi also has the calories of each item printed on the packaging even though it's made in the store which I really like. They also have Indian, Chinese and American style cuisine at the buffets. The pizza here is also not bad as well as some pretty good salads that you can have them create. If you are not interested in waiting in the lines for the food they also have some other pre-made stuff like the sushi such as sandwiches and whole entrees that can be heated up. All of the food too is not bad and they advertise it as made only from products that are wegmans branded and sold in the store. I will add something that is not Wegmans fault as they can't monitor it at all times. When you sit down to eat you go upstairs and can get seats that look out over the place. You will see people stick their hands in the buffet trays and sample the food. I've even seen someone take a whole salmon filet and walk away eating it. I'd say hey whatever it doesn't bother me but now I see myself getting sushi which is packaged every time I go now and my wife always has something made fresh not from the buffet. Again not Wegman's fault more the people who go there so not going to knock them points. The food selection here is great for the food that my wife and I eat at home. They have a good produce section that we've not had problems with getting fresh fruits and veggies like some of the other local stores. They are always adding stuff too like the fresh pre-cut fruit section that's there now and on weekends they always have some really great samples of things to try. The store is always clean and organized so no complaints there either. My final thing about this store that is a little bit of a negative and not a knock on Wegmans again is that it is almost always packed. You can have off during the week in the morning and run into lines on the checkout. People flock to this place. Keep that in mind if you are looking to just get something real quick. Looking for a way to contact the manager and there's no email posted for them, and each time I call I get passed around. This Wegmans REALLY NEEDS TO MONITOR THEIR FRUIT / PRODUCE AREA. It is absolutely disgusting how much of the produce is rotting, covered in fruit flies, hiding pockets of mold... I can't believe it happens time and time again. I keep thinking 'Oh maybe on the weekend it'll be better' or 'maybe I just keep getting here right before they get new shipments?'. But nope, regardless of the day of the week, there are several bins of produce that I pass by because they are absolutely putrid. Without fail, the bins with tropical fruit are covered in fruit flies. Almost every time I go, we have to pick through the berries to find containers without mold. Also, they are rarely price tagged so we're constantly wondering if we should bother putting them in our cart, or choose conventional vs. organic. This last week was the last straw... I'm looking at a container of kumquats (little orange fruits). The container I was holding had a few that weren't quite ripe, so I reach into the bin to grab another container and POOF... the container I touched had a powdery green mold in it that spewed everywhere! It was like a poof of green flour, exploding and spreading all over the rest of the fruits and into the bins nearby. There's no excuse for any of this... Any employee or manager walking through this area and taking a look at each bin would notice the fruit flies, the lack of price tags, and the rotting containers. GET IT TOGETHER! Great sushi department, great soup station, great fresh baked bread, great meat and fish departments (especially the Angus Beef), great prices on general groceries and great service. I do however have a problem with their Old Fashioned Sub Shop, an old fashioned sub shop would slice the cold cuts in front of you, at Wegmans they are dried out old and pre-cut. I hate their bottled dressing, whatever happened to FRESH Oil, Vinegar, Oregano, Salt and Pepper. Great place! It's huge and has everything you probably could ever need. I've done some comparing prices around the area (shoprite, acme, stop & shop, etc.) and Wegmans is by far the cheapest. The staff is very helpful which is always good. My only complaint is that the prices are rising and they are getting rid of more brands and keeping the wegmans brand which has been going to about 3 other grocery stores to find what I do need. I hope wegmans doesn't make too many more chances. It's good the way it is now or was a few months ago. read more

As far as groceries stores go, my wife and I love Wegman's. They have everything we need, and the folks at the meat and fish counters are knowledgable and attentive. I've ordered Legs of lambs, with special instructions on stringing up the meat, and how much fat I wanted left on. They always come through. However, on Christmas eve, my wife and I attempted to stop in at 5:51PM, and since the store closed at 6PM, they stopped permitting people into the store. Although not a big deal for us, a elderly lady that also arrived at the same time, mentioned that she needed a chicken for dinner. We just felt so sorry for her. This is by far the best grocery store I have ever been to. The quality of the produce makes me wonder how they do it. The fruits & veggies last days longer than that of other stores. The ambiance is second to none. There is a massive section of prepared foods that is very appealing. There is a great olive bar and a spectacular cheese section. I love this place so much, I only wish it was closer! I don't know if it's the vibrancy of the store, the hustle and bustle of customers and workers, or the smells or sights of food, but I know if I was left in here long enough, I would have a huge credit card bill. Haven't had a bad experience here yet! It's definitely a place to get groceries, but it's designed for you to come in and eat, linger and relax. A spacious seating area upstairs, with a drinks dispenser, and a clean bathroom. I know that whenever I came, my family and I never bought any actual groceries, other than some muffins to take home. Mostly, we got their hot food and chowed down. So my review is mostly on the atmosphere and food, rather than what groceries/produce they offer (sorry in advance). Muffins -- yeah, muffins was a huge selling point for me and my dad. We would come here just to get the double chocolate ones. For some reason, it was better than anywhere else we had tasted. Then they stopped making them, or they didn't have them a few times consecutively and we decided not to come back. Pizza- pies were big and hearty. Very affordable for a whole pie and individual slices were big. Definitely satisfying if you just had one. The veggie pizza was good, It actually HAD veggies in every bite. You don't know how annoying it is to get Domino's or Papa John's, and your veggie pizza has one alive, one shriveled up tomato slice, and a thumbnail of a green pepper. Sufficient sauce and cheese, not overbearing. Mmm....craving a slice now! There was always so much more I wanted to try, because they have a lot of self-serve buffet style hot foods and you can weigh your container. But that might add up fast. Also lots of hearty proteins (chicken), with side dishes like potato salad - -you need to order from people behind glass, deli style. There is Asian style food too. There is definitely something for everyone here. My favorite part is the bakery: There are a ton of packaged cake options, donuts, pastries. Looks delicious. I want to try/buy it all. Wegmans is a great store! Love this location and love their variety of food and great prices. The store is always cleaned. Now to explain my 3 stars. They recently got rid of curb side pick up which was a great service, especially when trying to save time. Yes, the service was expensive but I thought worth it. Wegmans replaced this service with an outsourced shopping company called Instacart. I used them three times and they fail each time to bring me the right items. First time the shopper didn't read my instructions on the app and my stuff was wrong. He also got lost and couldn't find my house and was almost an hour late, I live 20 minutes from this store. The second time, they brought me the wrong items again. The third and final time, the shopper brought me ONE banana and an already opened/ half eaten container of walnuts. Like how did you not notice this??? Every-time I called to complain I was told they could refund me for the items, which is great- but they have nothing to do with Wegmans. So any issue you have t call Instacart customer service which had long wait times. Wegmans please get a better delivery company! read more

I really like Wegmans in comparison to the other supermarket chains, but I avoid this location whenever possible. The produce department is never stocked, making it impossible to get all the items you anticipate getting, and feels dirty and overcrowded. The prepared foods section of this particular store is also smaller than other Wegmans stores in the area. They have very few vegetarian/vegan items in the prepared foods area, and during busy times they have trouble keeping the trays full. Besides the above comments, this location is loaded with stuck up customers on their cell phones, dressed like they are on their way to a club. The customers here have no respect for anyone else, and with the narrow aisles are always in my way. The parking lot is even worse, I feel like I am constantly fearing for my life, trying not to get run over by a housewife in a Range Rover. Overall this store is very disappointing, and needs some better management to bring it to the Wegmans standard. read more

I love Wegmans. I'd try to live there if I could. You know, I probably could... I could set up camp somewhere upstairs. They have microwaves and toaster ovens and sinks and bathrooms...I'd just need a tent. Anyway... The Wegmans I usually go to is in Marlton - and it's definitely the cleanest most orderly one I've been to, it's what made me fall in love with Wegmans in the first place. This Wegmans is nice too, not as neat and clean as the other, but I suspect it might get a bit more traffic. Still great selections though. You can find unusual things the local Acme or ShopRite doesn't have (like matcha powder, bacon chocolate bars and LeCruset cookware) and they carry the staples - cheap! Their store brand is a good quality and cheap cheap cheap. Cream cheese for 88 cents! c'mon! I really don't know why you'd shop anywhere else if there's a Wegmans nearby. Wegmans is now my favorite place to order catering. I've ordered from them for two different parties in my house. Once I went in person and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The second time I ordered online and picked up the food as scheduled. No surprises. Let's just say, the food was amazing and everyone in the party was pleased. The portions are huge and very well presented. Everything comes in separate containers, they don't forget the dressings and sauces. Just perfect! I will never cook again for a large party, it was definitely well worth it. I spent about $500 for a party of about 50 ppl. We had too much food and some of my guests brought food home. If I had to buy all of the ingredients I would've spent just about that much. I'm truly in love with their catering department. Treats employees like dirt. Extends the "sell by" dates out on perishable food to make more money. Do not abide by or care about Wegmans values. All about the money; do not value employees like other Wegmans do. The only reason I gave this 2 stars is that I do appreciate Wegmans as a whole, but the management at this store is horrific. read more
