Wegmans. What's not to love? Walked in before 7am and this place was already COOKIN. Bakery? On point. Local stuff? Plenty. Staff? Friendly, awake, and somehow happier than I was. They're out here rolling sushi, frying chicken, and making sandwiches like it's midday... meanwhile I'm still negotiating with my coffee. This is a great store with fantastic deals, however, I am only giving this review three stars because I had a bad experience with the reverse vending machines. I went there a few days ago to do a bottle redemption; I had a bag full of 7 bottles, but only one bottle was accepted. The rest were rejected. And all the bottles I tried putting in the machines were brands carried by Wegmans (Brisk, Vitamin Water, Snapple, etc), plus they had 5¢ deposits marked on them. I tried feeding them into the machines, but I kept repeatedly getting error messages from the machines. Customer service did squat for me except give me 5¢ for the one bottle that was accepted. Come here for groceries, but go elsewhere for bottle redemption. read more

Coming to Wegmans has been a huge part of my upstate New York visits! Hornell's gem is definitely having a Wegmans. The west coast doesn't have any and it should stay that way! If I ever move in a small town like Hornell, I would hope that there will be a Wegmans. Huge supermarket with absolutely almost everything! From slices of meat, cheeses, organic anything, and hot food-- it is amazing here! It is very organized and clean. I am absolutely in love with the Wegmans foaming hand soaps brand and the store's chocolate cream pie. Yummy! Amazing WiFi connection as well. I love the warm subs here! There is a table area great for hanging out and studying. I like getting coffee here too. My favorite grocery story EVER and I live in the West coast. Probably the greatest thing to happen to Hornell (OK, North Hornell) since the Erie Railroad. Come to small-town Hornell, and you just don't expect this amazing grocery store. Aisle after aisle of everything you could possibly want or need from your run-of-the-mill American groceries to gourmet imports from far-and-wide. European cheeses and goods, a great bakery, a great prepared foods section, even a walk-in cooler that sold an impressive variety of domestic and imported beers (even the coveted Carlsberg Elephant beer from Denmark that I can't even find in New York City without looking pretty hard), and the list goes on and on including an amazing organic/natural foods section. I really loved having the chance to shop at this gourmet palace when I lived in the area during college - Weekends meant going to Wegman's to find something new and exciting every time to spice up our otherwise vanilla existences (well, they sell Madagascar Vanilla if you want that too). The employees here were already really lovely people (I guess it helps that I knew a handful of them) and I just keep wishing I could go back and make that my regular grocery store again - It was always a wonderful, stress-free experience and it comes highly recommended! read more

I had the best checkout experience today I've ever had in the 50 + years I've shopped there. Lila was a very happy pleasant cashier. She is also the ONLY cashier that has ever asked me to check the weight of a bag to be sure it was not packed too heavy for me to manage! read more

I like the fact that this store is clean and well stocked. However on a few recent visits we've noticed two instances of cross contamination that keep being repeated. They use only one spatula for the pizzas which means if you're allergic to one they all could potentially be contaminated. We also witnessed a worker checking meat temperatures by stabbing different packages of meat and not wiping the probe off. This of course also leaves the packages open to sit and pathogens. And once again this would be a hazard to anyone allergic to different types of meat. I would recommend a servsafe course for the workers. read more

This once excellent grocery has been slowly but steadily declining for several years, a trend that seems to have accelerated recently. Some problems my wife and I have noted: 1. careless, foolish management of the produce section, with bags placed far from where one would use them, produce often ill-cared for (drying out, frozen in the back of area, etc.), and the formerly excellent selection of mushrooms now reduced to far fewer choices; 2. constant relocation of items, leading to slower, sometimes aggravating, shopping; 3. more intrusive muzak; 4. steadily decreasing selection of some items; 5. much more often items out of stock--this preceded COVID, which of course has made it worse; 6. at least one of the checkout people seems clueless (stacking things on produce, failing to ask if one has found everything, not asking how one would like things packed, loading up some bags with much heavy stuff, making them hard to lift, etc.), this has happened on both our last two visits; 7. Breyer's ice cream all but hidden in an unlighted freezer; 8. failure to enforce (or even encourage) masking. There are, of course, many good sides to this grocery, just fewer than there used to be. read more

I love this grocery store. It has everything that I need and want. The customer service is great. The associates are friendly and helpful. The store is always clean. They have a wonderful little cafe. A great deli including hot foods and a nice sub shop. The quality of their meat department is superior to any other supermarket I have been to. read more

Pharmacy at Wegmans is great. I enjoy the polite and caring service. The staff is very considerate of the trips taken to pick-up meds. I even got a free coupons for a free drink because one Rx wasn't quite ready! read more
