I had this company service my yard for several years. Initially, they seemed great--technicians would come, treat the yard, and it started looking better than before. During those early years, I would have given them 4 or 5 stars. However, over time, it became clear that they didn't care much about their customers or the results. I called about bare spots in my yard, and they kept recommending one service after another, but my yard only got worse. Last summer, after expressing my frustration, they offered a free aeration followed by overseeding. Unfortunately, they scheduled it during the hottest week of the year, after weeks of no rain, which resulted in the ground being rock hard. I noticed on my cameras that they spent only about 15 minutes on my large property. When I got home, I saw barely any plugs from the aeration--just grass seed lying on top of the hard ground.To make matters worse, a month later, I discovered they had charged me for the "free" aeration. It took nearly a month of calls to get that charge reversed. I was given excuses like, "The owner is away, so I can't process payments or credits." Finally, two months later, they issued the credit. I was not pleased with the product or the service. I spent 1000's with them. In the early years, I thought they did a great job, but after a while, the only thing they cared about was upselling additional services. After giving them several chances to do a good job, I'm giving up. I hired Weedman in the late spring/early summer to help with my lawn and weeds. We have almost 2 acres of lawn so the services were not cheap. The first time they showed up, the tried to sell my wife aeration and over seeding to the tune of $2k. "You're going to have bare spots all over your lawn once we kill the weeds". We declined. They did two treatments within two months and the only real difference was that parts of the lawn I had sodded the previous fall were dead! The weeds everywhere else were living their best life. I sent an email saying I had spent over $800 and was not happy and wanted to cancel my service. Didn't hear anything back. I posted a negative review but to the wrong Weedman - the one in Winchester since that's who had billed me. The manager there called me to tell me we were serviced by the Annapolis branch. He also said they were going to do whatever was needed to fix my lawn and earn my business back. Which he said would be aerating and overseeing any and all spots that needed it in my entire lawn free of charge. They came out and did about 600 sf of my lawn out of the entire 2 acres. I called him after they left and he said he'd get in touch with the manager in Annapolis and get it taken care of. Two weeks later, still haven't heard back. So this morning I called just to get an update and was told a manager would call me back. Shocker - nobody called me back. At this point, they can't even provide a FREE service that meets expectations. Stay clear of them, I wish I did! I'm out $800 and my lawn looks worse than it did before they did read more

I tried Weedman for 3 years. I have 2 acres. At the start I was suspicious of the completion of work. I gave it some time but a year and a half later there was little change. Observing a visit by the 'technician' revealed that the application I paid for wasn't done. Many phone calls and missed appointments by them to meet at my property spiked my frustration. The 'technicians' do not fully understand what or where to apply the lawn applications. The management doesn't care to fully address concerns. This is a franchise that looks to expand business with little concern for quality or service or results. Money down the drain. read more

So when I get a regular $90 treatment, that turns into a $115 treatment without any notification, I call. Response" oh we told you about this treatment in January......." ITS JULY!!!! I had Weedman in Winchester, VA and they did a wonderful job. Unfortunately, they are unreliable here in Severna Park, MD. They never show up when they schedule an appointment. I spent $500 this year and my yard is still covered in crab grass. They killed 5 rose bushes they claimed they'd replace, but after months, they've never even showed up to look at them. At first they tried to say it was a disease until I brought out a horticulturist and he said only weed spray would kill half of every rose bush overnight. They called asking why I didn't reup service for next year and I told them why. They claimed the owner would get in touch with me a month ago about my issues... not holding my breath. Vonne in the office and the technicians are all very nice, but stay away as they are unreliable and don't do a good job killing weeds. read more

Review not premised on work quality. New to yard care being a consideration, lived in a townhome or APT with pre-established and built in yard care prior. Asked for a quote from this organization + many others to care for the yard in my new home. One day my husband informed me some people were working in our yard, to which I explained must be one of the companies. We did not however receive a bill but this was not a surprise, different organizations have different billing implementations. Just received a collector noticed for the amount owed, $174.00. Shocked, because I haven't even received a bill- how could this have made it to a debt collector if they never requested payment? Called the organization this morning and no wonder! They had the wrong email address on file. Curious, why not just call the person and ensure that your communication is being received. Their response, they only call those whose credit cards set up for auto-pay fail after a billing cycle. Then the manager mentions, well we email and text. I have never received a text message either! So I ask, what number do you have on file for me? Shocker- also not my number! Well, can you tell me how this happened? Ohhhh, in 2020 (prior to my family owning the house) there was a request for a quote and that request had that number. In 2021 (may, when I did own the house) my request was submitted, though the number associated with the address was NOT updated. So both forms of contact were wrong, sound business practice here! Again, though. Why not after a certain threshold of missed payments not call (they'd of realized they had the wrong number). Answer: that would take too long. Ok, maybe send a physically letter- which I image would actually take less time than submitting whichever documents are needed to begin the collection process ‍. This slight shift would leverage all communication paths and if there was some information within the clearly mismanaged database then your customer would have all opportunities to submit payment. I would not recommend using this company if you're looking for an organization that has professionalized their business practices and meet your yard needs. read more

Be warned, this company will lure you into prepaying for a year of service with a discounted rate and then in the middle of the season try to upsell you a bunch of extra services. When you decline, they will kick you to the curb so you'll have to repeatedly bug them to try to get your next, already-paid-for-service scheduled. Then the end of the season will arrive and you'll have 2 weed control services remaining that haven't been completed. So you'll ask for a refund for those and they'll say don't worry that they are right on time (even though you were previously assured the second to last service would be completed in Oct and it's Nov). So you're like fine, whatever...let's see how this goes. They schedule both of your services for the same visit (seriously...?) and then they say they came out and did those services when they actually didn't. Come on... everyone has cameras these days. Liars and ballsy ones. Hope this review helps at least one person avoid this nightmare of a company. read more

This company is definitely good when it comes to keeping my lawn green and lush. I have used at least three other lawn care companies in the past and they are either way too expensive or, in one case, almost destroyed my lawn. These folks took the time to listen to my concerns came out to look at the lawn and set about taking care of it. I get the same guy every treatment so if I have any concerns I can let him know. Of course, anything else I can call the office and they'll take care of it. The only downside is that they do upsell every now and then with stuff but it's a soft touch and I don't mind. They also have a great discount for paying in advance vs per treatment which I appreciate as well. All in all, a good lawn care company. read more

Started out well, but results deteriorated. Used this service for almost two years. It started out well, there seemed to be an attention to detail. However, this year the lawn has deteriorated - weeds through out the lawn. The young man servicing the lawn acknowledged the issue but no improvement. Called customer service, they wanted pictures, like the problem can be solved by looking at pictures. Requested a supervisor come out and look at the lawn, well that would need to be "scheduled." I demanded that the supervisor come out "today." He did so and proceeded to tell me that they could retreat for crabgrass but the wild grass in the lawn was not part of my program - that would be extra - and the wild violets were tough to resolve. Apparently I didn't sign up for the weed free lawn. I signed up for the you'll have weeds program - but I didn't know that. It's way too much money to spend for a you'll have weeds lawn. read more

I was cautious at first, seeing as I've had two other companies for the same thing. After making the initial investment of de-thatching my yard, I was worried. This was August of last year. A door to door salesman for Weedman came to our door one day and my wife gave out contact information so we could find out more. When Weed Man called, my wife asked if they did general lawn care. They did not, so she told them she wouldn't be needing their services. Weeks later we get a notice on our door for fertilizing our yard for $41. We did not give consent for them to come to our yard or coordinate a time. They downright trespassed, came in early before we were awake, and are now attempting to extort money from us. In addition, we had already fertilized our yard at the right time to not affect our dog or baby. After their misguided service, our dog reeked of their cheap fertilizer and we couldn't have our child out there for a week. We spoke with them by phone in hopes they would clear this up. They had not called back for quite some time and we have a new notice with "interest payments". Here's to hoping they won't continue on with shady business practices and will clear this up promptly. For now, I don't recommend any services from Weed Man of Annapolis. read more

I was using Trugreen prior to Weed Man. Trugreen destroyed my yard. I was upset and disappointed because my yard was young and needed nurturing. I started using Weed Man a couple of years ago and now my lawn looks fab! Two years ago a random teenager knocked on my front door trying to set up "free appointments" for a lawn consult for this company I'd never heard of.... he was so earnest and polite that I set up this "free appointment" with NO intention of actually using this unheard of "Weed Man" group.... let me say that I am so happy that I made that appointment! The same two guys always come out to do the treatments and always explain exactly what they are doing and why. They are super professional and answer all questions and make reasonable recommendations. Weed Man lets you pay per service so you aren't locked into any long-term contracts which is another plus! Great experience for my first time using Weed Man. My neighbor used them last year & this year and their yard has improved greatly. My lawn was getting overcome with a wide variety of weeds but they are gone! They also aerated & seeded my front & back yards and I can't believe how much better they look! The weedman service started in May 2019, never really could see evidence of any application other than the bill. A was told that i need to arerate and seed my lawn I was quoted 278.00 I agreed. The aeration was completed on my lawn in 15 minutes, the aeration holes were spaced between 12" to 18" apart. No one would consider that an adequate job.I called and complained to no response. I cancelled their service on October 27th , sent in my final payment with a note in the return receipt to cancel . The check was not deposited until December 11th. In April of 2020 I received a state from The Weedman showing that their were 8 application to my lawn on December 11th 2019, the same day they deposited my final payment. Their treatments were less effctive than Home Depot products , The technicians never spent more than 5 minutes applying , many times they would skip the back yard. I had used this company one summer before and was satisfied so decided to use them again. This time I only had limited services done since I had put in a new patio recently and had new grass coming in. I was scheduled for a fertilizer and weed control. The services were scheduled on the same day. After they performed the services, I noticed that the weeds on my lawn actually increased and my new grass was now dead. I called the company and was told that the increase in weeds was normal and that it couldn't be their treatment that killed my new grass because the tech had written on the service order that he didn't spray it. Their services were the ONLY new elements that had been introduced to my yard since the new grass had been put down and it had been growing well. I was then told someone would come back out and do a new weed treatment when I had my reseeding done. I later had my reseeding canceled because my uncle did it and when I canceled that, they didn't send anyone out to do the new weed treatment either! When they called me to inquire about my non-payment, I explained what had happened and that I had no resolution of the issue and ended up pulling the weeds myself. I was told by this service rep that he would look into it and see about resolving the situation. I have heard nothing back since then except for a demand for payment. Two years ago I agreed to a free estimate from a guy walking though my neighborhood (only time I've done that) because my lawn was such a mess. I received a prompt and reasonable estimate and have used them since. They are honest and reliable, and the results have been excellent. My lawn has been transformed from mostly weeds, clover and bare spots to a golf course-like turf. I am a satisfied customer and have just prepaid for my third season without hesitation. read more

I have been using Weed Man in Annapolis for the past few years because they do not lock me into a contract and the lawn looks good. This Spring when the technician came to kill the weeds, he accidentally killed some of my strawberry plants. The Manager, Lane Shepherd came to the rescue. I was pleased that he came to assess the situation promptly and politely. He searched for some good replacement plants and delivered them to my doorstep. Afterwards, he sent a technician to give me a free fertilizer treatment. Weedman does a great job. I rarely write five-star reviews. They pay close attention to what's going on with our lawn. For example, in the Spring they noticed we have put down some grass seed and delayed preemergent herbicide to make sure it germinated. They are also very accessible to answer questions on the phone, and technicians are consistently thorough and polite. I have used Weed Man of Annapolis for the past 6 or 7 years and they have always taken outstanding care of my lawn until the summer of 2015, when I got the worst crabgrass problem ever! I was at the point where I was looking for another company. Then I ended up speaking to the owner of the company and let me tell you what happened after that was nothing short of amazing! The owner personally came to my house and looked at the problems and said he would take care of them. He had them retreat for the weeds and had his men perform core aeration and seeding not once BUT twice until he was satisfied with the lawn's reaction. My grass now looks better than it has ever looked. Did I mention that he would not take a dime for it! He stood behind his product and made me a customer for life! We needed a replacement lawn service as our lawn guy retired. We signed up for an estimate and cautiously went with it. The service has been awesome. The employees are polite and helpful. This year there were lots of weeds so we called in March and they came out immediately. Most of the lawn responded well but some areas needed more work. No problem for them. After a phone conversation (they called us) with a sales rep (in January). I asked to be sent information about the company. In March I come home to see my yard had been treated and a bill attached to my door. I contacted the company to say I didn't agree to any service agreement. Now in May, I received a late payment bill and was told " In January we said we'd send you information and we'll treat your yard in March" I agreed to receiving the information, not treating my yard. I asked why didn't I receive a follow-up call you confirm I wanted the service. I was told they don't have time to do a follow-up. I am I really suppose to pay for a service I didn't agree to? We're constantly outside during the summer season using our yard and love having a lawn service we can count on. The guys are courteous and always address my questions when I have them. Contacted the company a number of times to resolve the issue but unfortunately no response at all. Finally the company sending a letter that matter being sent to collections for payment.
