Dr. Jay's Ladies surpassed my expectations…read more I know, I know. You're probably asking, "Who still rocks urban clothes in the new millennium?" I personally stopped wearing BABY PHAT, PHAT FARM, FUBU, ECKO RED, PEPE and all that crap when I was like in middle school. These brands did not survive long because the concept of style and fashion has changed dramatically since the 90s- and thankfully so! Dr. Jays is aware of this change and has adjusted its inventory over the years. KUDOS! I wonder if Jimmy Jazz has switched it up too? Anyway, I came in here just for the hell of it a couple of weeks ago and I was pleasantly surprised. I don't shop for brand name clothing, I buy what flatters and compliments my body, is well designed and executed, stylish and within my budget. I wasn't looking for anything in particular but I was excited to see jeans in so many different colors- right on trend! They also have some cute tops too but they are poorly made. I wouldn't waste my money on them. They'd be rags after 3 wash cycles. I purchased a pair of dark washed denim/leggings. Super cute and fit perfectly. I also purchased three pairs of leggings @ $15 a piece - the same skinny leggings sold at American Apparel @ lie $40 a piece. I bought black, navy blue, and bright royal blue. I will definitely be back for more colors and they work in any season! I don't shop there for anything else except for jeans and leggings. For well made tops I go to Uniqlo, Zara, H&M or Gap.

Please do not go shopping in downtown BK and expect bubbly or even helpful customer service at the…read moreregister. CONS: Chick at the register, no matter who the chick is, ALWAYS has an attitude. I say this because I've been in this store dozens of times and its never the same girl, but the attitude is always the same. Never have the shoe I want in the size that I want. You better have like two or three different back up choices. You really have to dig in the clothing section to find good items, which I hate doing. PROS: They do have some hot shoes when you can find what you want. The guy workers are always helpful, however I am cute and I have a big booty, so I don't know how that will work out for you.

My son is large for his age and I was not sure if I should get the 6 month size or the 9 month (mind you he is only 3 months old), and I also was torn between raw silk and polished silk. They overnighted samples of Piccolo Bacio's outfits in both 6 and 9 month sizes for my son to try, and swatches of both silk types. The customer service was fantastic with any questions I had, and the final product came with a garment bag, packaged BEAUTIFULLY, and they threw in a bib with his name and cross for the occassion. Fantastic business.

Reminds me of what store owners used to be like back in the day, friendly, helpful and always around, not hiding in the back somewhere. Heres my gift tip for just about every holiday or birthday, a wine related gift from thriftway, card, bag and tissue paper and a nice wine glass or wine bottle holder and then walk next store to the wine store and buy the wine! Everyone loves it every time. Hope this place not only stays around but expands if a store next to it closes down.

Current fashion trends, lots of variety from casual to dressy, and a variety of sizes. They lose stars for the hapzard way they operate the register as you have no idea who is open and where the line ends. With that being said I was almost JUMPED by a woman who was in line and accidently went ahead of her. She created a full blown out screaming session despite my apologies and the staff did NOTHING to intervene. Not the best customer service but I still walked away unscathed with several new outfits and money in my pocket.

However, I was recently in South Amboy for the Christmas holiday and had to make a stop at the bank. I decided to check out the local shops while downtown and came across New Life Books and Bibles. I'm so happy I stopped in to check this little gem. They have a beautiful selection of both religious and secular items. The shop is quite charming and the clerk was so sweet and friendly. I'm sorry I did not get her name but we had a lovely chat and her welcoming nature made my visit all that more special. I love to support local businesses at every chance I get, and I am so glad I stumbled into the shop. I already gave out some of my purchases as Christmas gifts so I did not get to take pictures of some of the beautiful items I got, but I shared what I have not gifted yet. Whether you are a practicing Christian, or you are just looking for a beautiful gift, you should check out New Life Bibles and books and support your local small town businesses.
